AKA Anna Christine Nalick
Born: March 30, 1984
Location: Glendora, California, United States
Genre(s) Pop
Occupation(s) Singer-songwriter
Anna Christine Nalick (born March 30, 1984, in Glendora, California), is an American singer-songwriter. Her debut album, Wreck of the Day, featuring her first radio hit, "Breathe (2 AM)," was released on April 19, 2005. Nalick's second album has been recorded, but no release date has been set as of February 17, 2009.
Early years
She says in her Columbia Records biography that ever since she was a little girl she wanted to be a performer and that she actually began to write songs in fifth grade. Reportedly, while showing off her talents to her third grade teacher, her teacher told her that she'd end up "one day on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno." Leno recounted that story when Nalick actually did perform on his show earlier in 2006, quipping "which shows you how long I've been running this show".
Anna Nalick grew up in Glendora, California, east of Pasadena. As a teenager, she says she grew up in a household where her parents listened to a variety of music. Her mother exposed her to bands such as The Rolling Stones, Cream and Led Zeppelin, while her father introduced her to Elvis Presley and The Everly Brothers. She officially cites her influences as Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Blind Melon, John Mayer, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, among others. She says of Vaughan that he is "the guy that I'm going to marry when I get to heaven." In high school, in addition to writing her own songs, she performed with a Rush cover band called Brisket.
Nalick initially decided to go to college before pursuing her dream of music, but she met a photographer who convinced her to move forward more quickly. Nalick agreed to pass along a six song demo tape, and soon enough, was introduced to Christopher Thorn and Brad Smith, the founding members of Blind Melon now turned production team, as well as Eric Rosse, best known for his production work for Tori Amos. Putting her college plans on hold, in October, 2003 she signed on with Columbia Records. Nalick went into the studio with Thorn, Smith and Rosse as producers, together with mix-engineer Mark Endert (Fiona Apple, Maroon 5, and Gavin DeGraw). She recorded with a group of musicians that included Smith on bass, Thorn on guitar, Rosse and Zak Rae on keyboards, Lyle Workman and Stuart Mathis on guitar, Joey Waronker and Matt Chamberlain on drums. The result was her album Wreck of the Day, released two years later.
2004–2006: Wreck of the Day
Nalick's first single from her Wreck of the Day album was "Breathe (2 A.M.)", which peaked at #45 U.S. and went 3x Platinum on the Billboard Hot 100, and went huge on Adult Contemporary and Adult Top 40, both at #6. It was heavily played on AAA and Hot AC stations across the U.S., along with light airplay on Pop stations, and Nalick became one of 2005's biggest newcomers. Her video for the track got very heavy airplay on VH1 and some MTV airplay as well.
In the fall of 2005, Nalick released "In The Rough". The single was moderately successful, charting on the Billboard Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks at #15. Her album sales only slightly increased after the release of "In The Rough"; most say it was because the previous single was almost a full year before and most had forgotten Nalick. However, Wreck of the Day, up to the time of this writing, has sold over 615,000 copies with a gold certification from the RIAA, and a #20 peak on the Billboard 200. In New Zealand, Wreck of The Day reached the Top 15 albums on the Top 40 Albums Chart.
Her first single from Wreck of the Day, "Breathe (2AM)", experienced a resurgence on worldwide charts following a highly prominent appearance in a Grey's Anatomy episode (As We Know It), aired February 16, 2006. Other episodes of the show have featured the acoustic songs 'Catalyst' and 'Wreck of the Day' from the same album. The title track has also been featured on the show One Tree Hill.
In 2006, the album was re-released with three new songs and re-recording of the title track that was released as the album's third and final single. With little promotion and no video, the song only managed to chart on the Adult Top 40 spending two weeks at number 39 and one week at number 40 before falling off the chart.
In a September 2006 Q magazine interview, Britney Spears said she wished she had written Nalick's "Breathe (2AM)". Two months later, Nalick took honors as "AC Female Artist of the Year" at the New Music Awards, beating out Sheryl Crow. According to her official website, Nalick was so convinced that Crow would win the award that she kicked back and relaxed, removing her shoes. When her name was called, she ran to the stage shoeless to make sure that she was able to have enough time for her acceptance speech.
A clip from the single, "Satellite" from "Wreck of the Day" is often played on the Satellite Sisters radio show. Wreck of the Day also gets some playtime on Season 2, Episode 20 of Joan of Arcadia, even includes a 5 second promo at the end, "Tonights episode featured music by Anna Nalick," with the cd case against the Joan of Arcadia background.
2007-present: Broken Doll
On May 11, 2007, the first indication of Nalick writing her second album appeared on her website. Few updates were given after that. On January 28, 2008 Anna Nalick put up her first single, "Shine", on AOL music's page. The EP "Shine" was released April 1, 2008. Anna is currently promoting the single on a small radio tour. During her recent concert in Buffalo, NY for the event "Starry Night in the Garden", it was said that her album would be out in September. A few song titles have been revealed, including "Walk Away", "California Song", "All On My Own", "Someday Soon", "Home" and possible title track "Broken Doll". Anna recently did a promotional photo shoot for the record. In her official diary, she describes the theme as a mix between The Great Gatsby (her favorite novel) and Alice In Wonderland.
On July 12, 2008, the title Broken Doll was decided for the sophomore effort. No official announcement has been made on when the album will be released.

Born: 30-Mar-1979
Birthplace: New York City
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: Multiracial
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Singer
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Come Away With Me
Father: Ravi Shankar (musician)
Mother: Sue Jones (promoter, former dancer)
Sister: Anoushka Shankar (musician, half-sister)
Boyfriend: Lee Alexander (bassist)
Norah Jones is an American singer-songwriter, pianist, keyboardist, guitarist, and occasional actress of Anglo-American and Indian-Bengali descent. She is the daughter of sitarist Ravi Shankar and the half-sister of Anoushka Shankar.
Jones' career was launched with her 2002 debut album Come Away with Me. It is an adult contemporary pop/vocal jazz album with a sensual, plaintive soul/folk/country tinge, that sold 25 million copies worldwide and received five Grammy Awards, with Jones winning "Best New Artist". Her second album, Feels like Home, was released in 2004. In 2007, she released her third album, Not Too Late.
Jones' sold 16 million albums in the US and 36 million records worldwide.
Early life
Born Geethali Norah Jones Shankar in Brooklyn, New York, she officially changed her name to Norah Jones at the age of sixteen with the blessings of her parents.
Jones is the daughter of the sitar maestro Ravi Shankar and Sue Jones. Jones spent her childhood with her mother, who moved to the Fort Worth suburb of Grapevine, Texas, when Jones was four. She attended Colleyville Middle School, followed by a short period at Grapevine High School before transferring to Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas. Her only formal vocal training was her stint in the choir at Colleyville and Booker T. Washington. While at Colleyville, she also participated in band and played the alto saxophone.
Jones always had an affinity for the music of Bill Evans and Billie Holiday, among other 'oldies.' She once said, "My mom had this eight-album Billie Holiday set, I picked out one disc that I liked and played that over and over again." She considers Willie Nelson her mentor.
Jones began singing in church choirs and took piano lessons as a child. She attended Interlochen Arts Camp during the summers. While at high school, she won the DownBeat Student Music Awards for Best Jazz Vocalist (twice, in 1996 and 1997) and Best Original Composition (1996).
Jones went to the University of North Texas at Denton, where she majored in jazz piano. It was during this time she had a chance meeting with future collaborator (and her own catapult to fame) Jesse Harris. She was picking up a band that was playing at the university that also happened to be friends of Harris' who was making a stop on a cross-country road-trip with friend Richard Julian to see the band play. After having met Harris was sending her lead sheets of his songs. In 1999, after two years of struggling in the program at the university, Jones left for New York City. Less than a year later she started a band with Harris.
Musical career
Early days
Jones was a lounge singer before becoming a recording artist. She played with artists and bands including Wax Poetic and the Peter Malick Group. She performed frequently with guitarist Charlie Hunter in 2001.
Debut album: Come Away with Me
Main article: Come Away with Me
Her debut album, Come Away with Me, debuted in February 2002 and was instantly celebrated for its blending of mellow, acoustic pop with soul and jazz. It hit number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, with the single "Don't Know Why" hitting number one on the Top 40 Adult Recurrents in 2003 and #30 in the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. It won Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards. She made a cameo appearance in the 2002 movie Two Weeks Notice playing the piano and singing "The Nearness of You" at the fundraiser.
Second album: Feels like Home
Main article: Feels like Home
Her second album, Feels like Home, was released on February 9, 2004. Rather than repeat the softer, jazz mood of Come Away with Me, her second album was influenced by Country music. Within a week of its release, Feels like Home had sold over a million copies, making it the highest-selling album in the history of Blue Note Records. Jones toured globally again, to promote the album with the Handsome Band, and the addition of backing singer Daru Oda. Time magazine included Jones on the Time 100, a list of the most influential people of 2004. "Feels Like Home" debuted at number-one in most countries around the world and has sold 13 million copies.
Third album: Not Too Late
Main article: Not Too Late
Her third album, Not Too Late, was released by Blue Note Records on January 30, 2007. The album is Jones's first for which she wrote or co-wrote every song, and according to her, some of them are much darker than those on her previous albums. Not Too Late was mostly recorded at Jones's home studio and is the first album Jones recorded without producer Arif Mardin, who died in the summer of 2006. Jones described the sessions as "fun, relaxed and easy" and without a deadline; executives at Blue Note Records reportedly did not know they were recording an album. The song "My Dear Country" is a political satire; she wrote it before the United States Presidential election day in 2004.
Not Too Late reached the #1 position in twenty countries. It is the third best first week album sales of 2007 after Avril Lavigne's third album The Best Damn Thing and Linkin Park's third album Minutes to Midnight. The album became the 800th album to reach the top spot on the UK chart. It also reached #1 in the U.S. with 405,000 copies sold. According to a press release from EMI, Not Too Late is certified gold or platinum in twenty-one countries as of February 2007. The album has sold 5 million copies worldwide.
Another song of hers,"Turn Me On", featured in the British comedy 'Love Actually' Soundtrack in 2003.
Additional Projects
Jones appeared in the comedy track Dreamgirl in the debut album from The Lonely Island, Incredibad (featuring SNL performer Andy Samberg). The first half of the song pays hommage to a cerain fictional female, but the second half goes on tangent, paying yet another hommage to Chex Mix.
The Hank Williams project
Jones is one of the participants in the so-called Hank Williams Project being overseen by Bob Dylan, and reportedly including contributions from Willie Nelson, Jack White, Lucinda Williams, Javier Turienzo Alvarez, and Alan Jackson. On March 31 2008, Jones commemorated the 10th anniversary of The Living Room with a midnight performance at the intimate Manhattan music venue where the singer got her start. She played a new song, titled "How Many Times Have You Broken My Heart" and explained that it originated from newly-found Hank Williams lyrics that she was asked to put music to. Jones also performed the song in late 2008 on Elvis Costello's talk/music television series, Spectacle: Elvis Costello With...
Tours
Throughout 2002 and 2003 Jones appeared on stages, globally, for her first tour with the Handsome Band, travelling throughout Asia, America, Europe and Oceania. The tour was received with numerous sell-out concerts and positive critical acclaim.
Jones began a United States concert tour to promote her third album, Not Too Late, on April 13, 2007, and ending with a free concert in New York City on July 6, 2007. Pre-sales of tickets to the shows were available to her fan club members, and many sold out well before the performance date. She began her European tour on July 9, 2007 in Paris, and finished with a concert in London on August 27, 2007, in Sopot on August 31 and in Reykjavík, Iceland on September 2, 2007.
While playing with the Handsome Band, Jones & co. are known to play several known hits from her albums, modified for stage performance with guitar solos and additional percussion. Additionally, shows may also feature several covers of country, jazz, blues, or folk songs, ranging from the ubiquitous to the obscure. Artists covered have included, among others, Willie Nelson, Gram Parsons, John Prine, Randy Newman, Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley, and Tom Waits.
Jones is working with Reverb, a non-profit environmental organization, for her 2007 summer tour. She also performed at Bryant Park on July 6 as part of Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series.
On screen
Norah Jones's cameo in the 2002 movie Two Weeks Notice came just as her career was beginning to expand. The film shows her briefly at the piano, singing for a charity benefit.
In the latter part of 2003, rumors emerged that veteran Indian filmmaker Dev Anand was planning to make the film Song of Life, inspired by Jones's troubled relationship with her father, Ravi Shankar. Both Jones and Shankar were enraged by the rumors. Jones commented, "[Anand] has no idea of our story, and he's not going to represent it in a truthful way, I'm sure. It's sad because it's personal stuff and nobody's business but ours."
Jones appeared in the 2004 special Sesame Street Presents: The Street We Live On. Jones changed the lyrics to her famous song "Don't Know Why" to read "Don't know why Y didn't come," thereby introducing the letter Y to the young audience.
In February 2006, Screen International reported that Jones would make her acting debut as the protagonist of a film directed by Wong Kar-wai. The film, My Blueberry Nights, was the opening film for the 2007 Cannes Film Festival as one of the 22 films in competition. Jones wrote a song for the movie.
In January 2007, Jones recorded a live session at Abbey Road Studios for Live from Abbey Road. The episode, on which John Mayer and Richard Ashcroft also appeared, was aired in the United Kingdom on Channel 4 in March 2007 and in the USA on the Sundance Channel in June 2007.
She appeared twice on the PBS series Austin City Limits, on November 2, 2002 and October 6, 2007. The latter appearance was the season opener.

AKA Lucille Frances Ryan
Born: 29-Mar-1968
Birthplace: Mount Albert, Auckland, New Zealand
Gender: Female
Religion: Roman Catholic
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Actor
Party Affiliation: Democratic
Nationality: New Zealand
Executive summary: Xena, Warrior Princess
Father: Frank Ryan (Auckland city finance officer, b. 1932)
Mother: Julie Ryan (housewife, b. 1937)
Husband: Garth Lawless (skydiver, m. 1988, div. 1995, one daughter)
Daughter: Daisy Lawless (b. Jul-1988, with Garth Lawless)
Husband: Robert G. Tapert (producer, b. 1955, m. 28-Mar-1998, two sons)
Son: Julius Robert Bay Tapert (b. 16-Oct-1999, with Tapert)
Son: Judah Miro Tapert (b. 7-May-2002, with Tapert)
As a girl, Lucy Lawless appeared in several musicals staged by her high school, and studied opera at Auckland University, but dropped out. She worked as a gold miner, truck driver, and cartographer, and was already married and a mother before show biz beckoned -- when she won the Mrs. New Zealand beauty pageant in 1989.
The marriage did not last, but wearing that crown she made a few TV commercials, and when her reign was finished she joined Funny Business, a comedy troupe with a weekly sketch TV show. She subsequently hosted a travel show and co-starred in the down-under sitcom For the Love of Mike. Her first prominent film role was 1992's Rainbow Warrior, the tale of the sinking of the Greenpeace ship, alongside Jon Voight and Sam Neill.
Her big break came in 1994, with a smallish role as Lysia in the pilot for Kevin Sorbo's semi-silly TV series, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. Dyeing her hair a darker color, she later played Xena on Hercules, and the viewer response convinced the studio that Xena should have her own show. Hercules ran four years with middling ratings, while Xena wore the breastplate of righteousness for six seasons, and spent much of that time as the most popular syndicated show in America. Midway through Xena's run, she married the show's executive producer, Rob Tapert.
ucy Lawless is a New Zealand actress and singer best known for playing the title character of the television series Xena: Warrior Princess and for her role as Number Three on the series Battlestar Galactica.
Early life
Lawless, the fifth of seven children (five brothers and one sister), was born in Mount Albert, New Zealand. She is the daughter of Julie and Frank Ryan, who was formerly a banker and Mount Albert mayor. Lawless began acting in secondary school, attending Marist College, Mount Albert. She studied foreign languages at Auckland University for a year before dropping out and leaving for Europe with her boyfriend, Garth Lawless, to travel to Germany and Switzerland. The couple then moved to Australia, where she worked briefly as a gold miner.
Personal life
At 19, Lawless became pregnant with Garth's child. In 1988, they married in Kalgoorlie, Australia. They returned to New Zealand and had a daughter, Daisy Lawless (born 15 July 1988), who also attended Marist College. The couple divorced in 1995. Lawless married Xena executive producer Robert Tapert on 28 March 1998. Lawless and Tapert have two sons: Julius Robert Bay Tapert (born 16 October 1999) and Judah Miro Tapert (born 7 May 2002), both born in Auckland, New Zealand.
Acting career
In 1994, Lawless appeared in "Hercules and the Amazon Women," the television pilot for Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. In that episode, she played a man-hating Amazon named Lysia. She went on to play another character, Lyla, in the first season episode "As Darkness Falls," but her key role was given to her when she was asked to play a villainous warrior woman named Xena in the episode "The Warrior Princess" – aired in March 1995. Vanessa Angel had originally been cast in the role, but fell ill and was unable to travel to New Zealand for shooting. To differentiate between Xena and the similar Lysia, Lawless' hair, naturally ash blond, was dyed black. Xena subsequently returned in two more episodes of the first season of Hercules.
The character was popular enough that a spin-off series was created for her. Xena: Warrior Princess debuted on 4 September, 1995 (although Lawless appeared as Lyla once again, in the second season Hercules episode "Outcast" – aired in October 1995). Xena: Warrior Princess, like its parent program, was a hit, lasting six seasons, and Lawless became an international celebrity.
While taping an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in October 1996, Lawless suffered a fractured pelvis when the horse she was riding lost its footing in the studio parking lot. She made a complete recovery, and her absence from the Xena set ultimately had minimal impact on the show.
In 1997, Lawless was named one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" by People magazine. Days earlier on 6 May 1997, Lawless inadvertently exposed a breast as she concluded a performance of the US national anthem at an NHL hockey game in Anaheim, California between the Mighty Ducks and Detroit Red Wings. Lawless was quoted in Newsweek as saying, "Obviously, I was mortified....It was quite a bit more exposure than I want".
Lawless first appeared on Broadway in September 1997 in the Grease play remake, as the "bad girl" Rizzo character. She had wanted to play the lead role of Sandy, and later stated her belief that the producers had typecast her to play "bad girls" following her success as Xena. She said the Sandy character was very similar to her sheltered childhood, growing up in New Zealand with many protective older brothers.
Lawless has since appeared onstage in the Vagina Monologues and as a television guest star in episodes of The Simpsons, The X-Files, Just Shoot Me!, Veronica Mars, Burn Notice, Less Than Perfect, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. She was also featured in the short-lived television series Tarzan. Lawless has made cameo appearances in the movies EuroTrip, Spider-Man and Boogeyman (2005). She returned to television in the TV movie Locusts! and its sequel Vampire Bats.
Lawless became a member of the New Zealand Order Of Merit in the 2004 Queen's Birthday Honours List, and therefore is entitled to use the postnominal letters, MNZM.
From 2005 to 2009, Lawless has had a recurring role in the television series Battlestar Galactica. She portrays D'Anna Biers, a reporter with the Fleet News Service who works on a critical documentary about the crew of the Galactica and is later revealed to be a Cylon (Number Three).
Lawless appeared in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, in season 6 as herself. She goes on a date with Larry David, only to finally walk away after Larry makes an inappropriate suggestion about his underwear and the potential for sex between them.
Lawless competed as one of the celebrity singers on the reality TV show Celebrity Duets in 2006, finishing as the runner-up to winner Alfonso Ribeiro. She has also performed as a voice actor in several animated features.
Lawless has a cult following in the lesbian community, largely because of Xena's ambiguous relationship with traveling companion Gabrielle. Although Lawless is heterosexual, she has appeared at gay pride events such as the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. In a 2003 interview with Lesbian News magazine, she said that she had come to see Xena and Gabrielle's relationship as gay after viewing the series finale, though she has also stated on several occasions that she was undecided on the nature of the relationship while playing the role.
Lawless returned to television on Nov. 10, 2008 in a guest-starring role on the hit CBS television series, CSI: Miami playing a madame with connections to a murder. She is also set to guest star in the show, The L Word, and also had a role in the Adam Sandler movie, Bedtime Stories, released Christmas 2008. Also in 2008, Lucy stars with her former Xena stuntwoman Zoe Bell in Sony (Crackle)'s new web series Angel of Death written by Ed Brubaker set to debut online in early 2009.
Charity
Lawless is a member of the board of trustees of the StarShip Foundation, the charity arm of the Starship Children's Health (hospital) which is part of the Auckland District Health Board. It is set up to provide additional equipment, support and help to staff, patients and families. She devotes much time and energy to fundraising for the organization. She recently sat for the New Zealand television series The Sitting , an arts series where celebrity portraits are produced during an interview session with the portraits later auctioned for charity (episode link). Lucy attended the auction where her portrait fetched the top price, with the whole event raising $39,000 for Starship.
Singing career
During a break in 1997 between filming seasons on Xena, Lawless made her onstage debut singing songs on Broadway as Rizzo in the remake of the musical play Grease.
Since her role as Xena, Lawless has pursued a new career in singing after being a contestant on Celebrity Duets. She sang at the Roxy in Hollywood in 2007, and has since performed regularly in concerts and released several CDs.

Personal life
Turner was born in Hendon, NW London in 1988, to parents Bev and Les. She was raised as a Catholic with her two younger sisters Daisy, 18 (born June 1990) and Lily, 7 (born November 2001) in Hertfordshire, near to the BBC television studios in Elstree. She has commented, "From my bedroom window you could see part of the Square, and you could hear them all filming at night. I used to say to my mum: 'I wanna be on that!" It was whilst living there that Turner decided to become an actress. At the age of 10, she schooled at the Sylvia Young Theatre School to achieve her ambition, but left after a year stating that it "wasn't my cup of tea". She has since revealed that she was bullied while at stage school, by children who teased her for being "geeky". Instead, she attended a local girls private school (Peterborough And Saint Margarets School) and went to dance, singing and acting classes outside school.
In 2005, Turner dated Jake Gotlieb, during which time a tabloid newspaper printed CCTV pictures of them together "in a steamy clinch", in the corridor of the Carlton Tower Hotel in London's Knightsbridge. After splitting with Gotlieb, Turner began dating barber Matt Kaye; however, she split from Kaye in March 2007.
As of 2007, Lacey moved out of her parents house and she resides in Radlett, Hertfordshire. In January 2009, whilst celebrating a friends birthday, Turner was involded in a fight at trendy club, 24, in West London. It was rumoured that whilst with friends they approached a group of girls, throwing swear threats and then Turner and her friends were thrown out of the club, Turner denied all claims in an interview with OK! magazine.
Lacey's second cousin is Philip Dowling, who played Leo Taylor in Eastenders. Lacey is friends with Lily Allen.
Career
Turner's earliest work included appearances on stage and in advertisements (notably a Haribo advert). In 2004, Turner auditioned for the role of Demi Miller in BBC's EastEnders. Though she failed to get that part, she was instead given the role of Stacey, a new addition to the popular Slater family. She started in the soap the day after leaving school, and made her first appearance on-screen in November 2004. Commenting on the role, Turner said, "I always dreamt of being on the show and so I can't believe that I've fulfilled my greatest ambition!" In 2005, Turner appeared alongside Catherine Tate's character Lauren in a special sketch for the BBC's annual Children in Need telethon. In January 2009, Turner appeared as a guest on The Sunday Night Project.
In 2006, Lacey became the youngest ever recipient to have won the Best Actress award at both British Soap and Inside Soap Awards. Also, in 2007 she became the youngest actress to have won the National Television Award for Most Popular Actress. She also holds the record for winning all Best Actress categories in a single year, in all soap ceremonies. She has overall won 3 British Soap Awards,1 TV Quick and Choice Award, 1 TRIC Award,1 TV Now Award,1 National Television Award,3 All About Soap Bubble Award and 7 Inside Soap Awards.

Julia O'Hara Stiles is an American stage and film actress.
After beginning her career in small parts in a New York City theatre troupe, she has moved on to leading roles in plays by writers as diverse as William Shakespeare and David Mamet. Her film career has included both commercial and critical successes, ranging from teen romantic comedies such as 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) to dark art house pictures such as The Business of Strangers (2001). She is also well known as playing the supporting character, Nicky Parsons, in the Bourne film series.
Early life
Stiles was born in New York City, the daughter of Judith Stiles, a potter, and John O'Hara, a businessman. Her father is of Irish descent and her mother is of half Italian and half English ancestry. She started acting at age eleven, performing with New York's La MaMa Theatre Company.
Career
Film career
Stiles' first film was a non-speaking part in I Love You, I Love You Not (1996), with Claire Danes and Jude Law. She also had small roles as Harrison Ford's daughter in Alan J. Pakula's The Devil's Own (1997) and in M. Night Shyamalan's Wide Awake (1998). Her first lead was in Wicked (1998), playing a teenage girl who might have murdered her mother so she could have her father all to herself. Critic Joe Balthai wrote she was "the darling of the 1998 Sundance Film Festival" and Internet movie writer Harry Knowles said she was the "discovery of the fest", but the film was not commercially released in the U.S. and went direct-to-video in 2001, after Stiles had become better known.
The role that gained Stiles renown was Kat Stratford, opposite Heath Ledger, in Gil Junger's 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), an adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew set in a high school in Tacoma, Washington. She won an MTV Movie Award for "Breakthrough Female Performance" for the role, and the Chicago Film Critics voted her the most promising new actress of the year. Foreign critics applauded her work as well, including Adina Hoffman, who praised her as "a young, serious looking Diane Lane" and Martin Hoyle, who commented that Stiles played Kat "with bloody-minded independent charm from the beginning with hints of wistfulness beneath the determination."
Her next starring role was in Down to You (2000), which was heavily panned by critics, but earned Stiles and her co-star Freddie Prinze, Jr. a Teen Choice Award nomination for their on-screen chemistry. She subsequently appeared in two more Shakespearean adaptations. The first was as the Ophelia in Michael Almerayda's Hamlet (2000), with Ethan Hawke in the lead. The second was in the Desdemona role, opposite Mekhi Phifer in Tim Blake Nelson's O (2001), a version of Othello set in a private boarding school. Neither film was a great success; O had been subjected to many delays and a change of distributors and Hamlet was an art house film shot on a minimal budget.
Stiles' next commercial success was in Save the Last Dance (2001), as an aspiring ballerina forced to leave her small town in downstate Illinois to live with her struggling musician father in Chicago after her mother is killed. At her new, nearly all-black school, she falls in love with the character played by Sean Patrick Thomas, who teaches her hip-hop dance steps that get her into The Juilliard School. The role won her two more MTV awards for "Best Kiss" and "Best Female Performance", and a Teen Choice Award for best fight scene for her battle with Bianca Lawson. Rolling Stone pronounced her "the coolest co-ed," putting her on the cover of its April 12, 2001 issue. She told Rolling Stone that she performed all her own dancing in the film, though the way the film was shot and edited might have made it appear otherwise.
In David Mamet's State and Main (2000), about a film shooting on location in a small town in Vermont, she played a teenage girl who seduces a film actor (Alec Baldwin) with a weakness for young girls. Stiles also played opposite Stockard Channing in the dark art house film The Business of Strangers (2001) as a conniving, amoral secretary who exacts revenge on her cold boss. Channing was impressed by her co-star: "In addition to her talent, she has a quality that is almost feral, something that can make people uneasy. She has an effect on people." Stiles also had a small but crucial role as Treadstone operative Nicolette "Nicky" Parsons in The Bourne Identity (2002), a role that was enlarged in The Bourne Supremacy (2004), then greatly expanded in The Bourne Ultimatum (2007).
Between the Bourne films, she appeared in Mona Lisa Smile (2003) as Joan, a student at Wellesley College in 1953, whose art professor (Julia Roberts) encourages her to pursue a career in law rather than becoming a wife and mother. Critic Stephen Holden referred to her as one of cinema's "brightest young stars, but the film met with generally unfavorable reviews.
Stiles played a Wisconsin college student who is swept off her feet by a Danish prince in The Prince and Me (2004), directed by Martha Coolidge. Stiles told an interviewer that she was very similar to the character, Paige Morgan. But critic Scott Foundas said while she was, as always, "irrepressibly engaging," the film was a "strange career choice for Stiles." This echoed criticism in reviews of A Guy Thing (2003), a romantic comedy with Jason Lee and Selma Blair. Critic Dennis Harvey wrote that Stiles was "wasted," and Stephen Holden called her "a serious actress from whom comedy does not seem to flow naturally".
In 2005, Stiles was cast opposite her Hamlet co-star Liev Schreiber in The Omen, a remake of the 1976 horror film. The film was released on June 6, 2006.
She returned to the Bourne series with a much larger role in The Bourne Ultimatum in 2007. Producer Lynda Obst was quoted as saying that Stiles was "turning into the next Meryl Streep." She will next work on a film adaptation of The Bell Jar, which coincidentally was a book her character was seen reading in her breakthrough film 10 Things I Hate About You. Stiles also appears in the forthcoming film Gospel Hill. She will act in the role of a woman who falls in love with her stalker in the upcoming thriller Cry of the Owl.
Stage career
Stiles' first theatrical roles were in works by author/composer John Moran with the group Ridge Theater, in Manhattan's Lower East Side from 1993-1998. She later performed on stage in Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, in the summer of 2002 and appeared as Viola, the lead role in Shakespeare in the Park's production of Twelfth Night with Jimmy Smits. Reviewing the production, Ben Brantley of The New York Times saluted Stiles as "the thinking teenager's movie goddess" who put him in mind of a "young Jane Fonda."
In the spring of 2004, she made her London stage debut opposite Aaron Eckhart in a revival of David Mamet's play Oleanna at the Garrick Theatre.
Other work
On March 17, 2001, Stiles hosted Saturday Night Live and, eight days later, she was a presenter at the 73rd Academy Awards. She returned to Saturday Night Live on May 5 in a cameo as President George W. Bush's daughter Jenna Bush in a skit that poked fun at the two first daughters being arrested for underage drinking. MTV profiled her in its Diary series in 2003, and she was Punk'd by Ashton Kutcher at a Washington DC museum in the spring of 2004.
Stiles made her writing and directorial debut with Elle magazine's short Raving starring Zooey Deschanel. It premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.
She is the only actress to star in the most modern adaptations of Shakespeare's plays (3): she appeared in 10 Things I Hate About You (based on The Taming of the Shrew), Hamlet (based on Hamlet), and O (based on Othello).
Personal life
Stiles graduated from Columbia University in 2005, with a degree in English literature.
Stiles has also worked for Habitat for Humanity, building housing in Costa Rica, and has worked with Amnesty International to try to raise awareness of the harsh conditions of immigration detention of unaccompanied juveniles; Marie Claire magazine, in January 2004, featured Stiles' trip to see conditions at the Berks County Youth Center in Leesport, Pennsylvania. Additionally, Stiles serves on the Board of Directors of Amend.org, a New York-based nonprofit that implements childhood injury prevention programs in Africa.
Also an ex-vegan, now occasionally eating red meat, she says she gave up veganism after she developed anemia and found it difficult to get proper nutrition while traveling. Stiles has described herself as a feminist and wrote on the subject in The Guardian.
An avid baseball fan, she supports the New York Mets. She threw the ceremonial first pitch before their May 29, 2006 game.
In music, Stiles is a fan of the British rock band The Smiths and their lead singer Morrissey.

Born March 27, 1986
Location Beverly Hills, California
Height 5 ft 7 in (1.70 m)[1]
Weight 105 lb (48 kg; 7.5 st)
Valerie Elizabeth Wyndham is an American professional wrestling valet, better known by her ring name, SoCal Val. She is currently working for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
Career
Independent circuit
Valerie Wyndham was approached by a promoter at a wrestling show and offered the possibility of being a manager. She debuted in March 2002 for the Golden State Championship Wrestling independent promotion in Anaheim, California. She acted as the manager of Pinoy Boy. She promptly betrayed him by berating him after he was defeated by Scott Lost and then leaving with Lost. From the age of fifteen, she acted as a manager, ring girl, and timekeeper. She appeared for several other promotions in Southern California before her family moved across the country to Orlando, Florida when she was sixteen. Wyndham developed the character of SoCal Val, a wealthy, petulant, ruthless villain, who was based on Stephanie McMahon of World Wrestling Entertainment, whom Wyndham admired.
In addition to working for multiple independent promotions, Wyndham appeared with World Wrestling Entertainment in early 2005 on SmackDown! as part of a vignette featuring Luther Reigns. She regularly appears with the Orlando based promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, working variously as a ring girl and merchandise model beginning in June 2005. She appeared at TNA's No Surrender pay-per-view on July 17, 2005 alongside ring announcer Jeremy Borash and used to be an interviewer on the now defunct TNA Global Impact!.
As a part of Women's Extreme Wrestling (WEW), Wyndham started out as an "executive" under Francine Fournier. Wyndham later wrestled Francine in a Kiss My Foot match, which Wyndham lost. She later became the General Manager of WEW. In 2005, Wyndham debuted with women's wrestling company RingDivas where she wrestled against fellow TNA Knockout Tracy Brooks in one of the biggest main events in the company's history. In 2007 she starred in RingDivas second feature film, Girls of War.
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling
In August 2006, SoCal Val officially signed with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). On August 18, SoCal Val got kicked out by the Women's Extreme Wrestling promotion at their PPV taping event Twisted Steel and Sex Appeal. On the December 14, 2006 episode of Impact!, Kurt Angle dragged her in the ring and threatened to break her ankle until Jim Cornette talked him into letting her go. On the March 8, 2007 episode of Impact!, SoCal Val got injured after receiving the Black Hole Slam from Abyss.
In 2008, Val entered into an on-screen relationship with Jay Lethal with signs of Sonjay Dutt also showing affection for Val. Lethal lost his X Division championship to Petey Williams after a Canadian Destroyer on the April 17 episode of Impact!. As part of the storyline, at Slammiversary, Val was scheduled to marry Lethal, but their wedding was ruined when Sonjay Dutt claimed he should marry Val and attacked Lethal. At No Surrender, she became a heel by giving Lethal a low blow, allowing Dutt to get the victory. In the following weeks, Val's actions were explained by transitioning her character into a gold digger, claiming that Dutt's father was the richest man in India. In 2009, Dutt was released.
Other media
In July 2006, Valerie was contacted by Playboy about doing a spread for the magazine. She commented about it on her MySpace blog, saying: "It's a very serious thing to consider and the jury is still out on how I am going to handle this one. I've spoken to the people in my life whose opinions I value most, and each has been very supportive. For that I am grateful....but this is one I'm going to have to decide all on my own." She ended up declining the offer. She has also been in advertisements for Morphoplex. In 2009, Valerie appeared in a video promo for the F.E.A.R. 2 game, dressed as an Armacham FEAR AWAY nurse.

AKA Stacy Ann Ferguson
Born: 27-Mar-1975
Birthplace: Hacienda Heights, CA
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Singer
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Black Eyed Peas
Father: Pat Ferguson
Mother: Terri Gore
Sister: Dana Ferguson (b. 1978)
Boyfriend: Josh Duhamel (actor, supposedly engaged to be married)
Fergie is an American pop, hip hop, and R&B singer, songwriter, and actress. She is a former member of the kids' television series Kids Incorporated, and the girl group Wild Orchid. Ferguson was also a co-host of the television show Great Pretenders. She is currently a vocalist for the hip hop/pop group the Black Eyed Peas, of which she is the sole female member, as well as a solo artist, releasing her debut album, The Dutchess, in 2006. The album has so far spawned three U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number one singles and five Top 10 hits, making The Dutchess only the seventh album from a female artist to spawn five Top 5 hits.
Early life
Ferguson was born in Hacienda Heights, California to Terri Gore and Patrick Ferguson. She has one sister, Dana, who is an actress. Her parents were Catholics of Irish and Scottish descent and worked as schoolteachers. Ferguson had a strict Catholic upbringing. During her youth, she was "involved" with members of the Mexican gangs in Hacienda Heights, California. Ferguson attended Glen A. Wilson High School. She was also a Girl Scout.
Acting career
As a child actress, Ferguson appeared on the television program Kids Incorporated for several years with Renee Sandstrom, who became a fellow member of Wild Orchid. Ferguson's well-scrubbed image on that show presents quite a contrast with the "ghetto-funk" image she has more recently begun to cultivate. Ferguson was the voice of Sally Brown in two Charlie Brown specials: It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown (1984), and Snoopy's Getting Married, Charlie Brown (1985). She also voiced Sally in the 1985 version of The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show.
In July 2005, Ferguson had a guest role on the Rocket Power special, Reggie's Big Beach Break, on Nickelodeon; she voiced a fictitious pop music star named Shaffika. Ferguson returned to acting in 2006, appearing in a minor role in the film Poseidon. She later appeared in 2007's Grindhouse.
Personal life
Since September 2004, Ferguson has been dating actor Josh Duhamel, who stars in the television show Las Vegas. She appeared in the series, along with the Black Eyed Peas, in an episode titled "Montecito Lancers", which originally aired on November 1, 2004. She and Duhamel have recently purchased a house together.
In April 2007, she gave an interview in which she admitted that she went on a sex and drugs spree when she turned 18, saying: "I have had lesbian experiences in the past. I won't say how many men I've had sex with—but I am a very sexual person."
Ferguson was featured on Maxim's Hot 100 Women of 2006, and voted in at position #36. In 2007, she was voted in at #10.
Recently, Ferguson has been alleged to have had plastic surgery. She denied the allegations and has said that they drove her to seek therapy. Along with other celebrities, she is now assailing the credibility of US Weekly Magazine.
Music career
Ferguson was a member of the female trio Wild Orchid, which she fronted with Stefanie Ridel and fellow Kids Incorporated star Renee Sandstrom. Wild Orchid released two albums, but after completing a third album, their record label declined to release it, and she left the group shortly thereafter. Her disappointment with Wild Orchid led to an addiction to crystal methamphetamine. In September 2006, Ferguson talked with Time about quitting her crystal meth addiction. "It was the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with," she says. "It's the drug that's addicting. But it's why you start doing it in the first place that's interesting. A lot of it was being a child actor; I learned to suppress feelings."
In 2003, Ferguson took over the lead female vocal duties for the Black Eyed Peas, replacing background singer Kim Hill, who had left the group in 2000. Ferguson recorded five songs with the group before she was invited to join them permanently. Ferguson's addition to the band, which had enjoyed underground success until then, helped them quickly grow into mainstream popularity.
In 2005, Ferguson inadvertently urinated on stage during a performance at San Diego's Street Scene festival. Ferguson later commented on the incident: "I had a few drinks before the show, but I didn't think to go to the bathroom before we went onstage. We were jumping around...and my bladder just started."
On November 18, 2007, Ferguson won the Pop or Rock "Favorite Female Artist" at the American Music Awards.
Solo career
The Dutchess
Main article: The Dutchess
After two successful Black Eyed Peas albums, Ferguson began pursuing a solo career. Her first album, released on September 19, 2006, was entitled The Dutchess. The album's name is a misspelled variant of the former title of Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, with whom Ferguson shares a surname and popular nickname. The solo deal does not mean the demise of the Black Eyed Peas, as Ferguson intends to remain with the group, alternating between the two duties. The Dutchess is similar in style to that of the Black Eyed Peas, as fellow Peas member will.i.am is the album's executive producer. Ferguson has had five hit songs from The Dutchess, with "London Bridge", "Glamorous", and "Big Girls Don't Cry" becoming number one singles. Her second single, "Fergalicious", peaked at #2. "London Bridge" reached #2 on the United World Chart, while "Fergalicious" and "Glamorous" both made it to #4. "Big Girls Don't Cry" became Ferguson's first worldwide #1 single, and is her most successful single to date. "Clumsy" has been announced as the fifth single from The Dutchess due to the major success of "Big Girls Don't Cry", and has been set to be released on September 25 in the US. Ferguson has received her fifth Top 10 solo track from The Dutchess after "Clumsy" earned at #5 position on the Billboard Hot 100, on 22 December 2007.
Other
"I started doing ecstasy. Then I got addicted to crystal methamphetamine. My weight dropped to 90 pounds. I lied to my friends and said I was bulimic. Finally I started going crazy. In that moment I talked to God and He said: 'I've given you all these gifts, so what are you doing?' I decided to get clean. I told everybody what was wrong."
In August 2005, while performing at the Street Scene festival in San Diego, a mysterious damp stain appeared on the crotch of her pants. The band had arrived 45 minutes late to their set, rather intoxicated. Fergie insisted that the stain was not urine, but sweat, and one is inclined to believe her, given she was forthcoming about a similar incident at an Australia show the previous December:
"I had a few drinks before the show, but I didn't think to go to the restroom before we went onstage. We were jumping around -- it was all very rock-n-roll -- and my bladder just started... you know. Somebody brought out these champagne bottles because it was the New Year, and I basically opened one up and squirted it all over myself, so nobody would notice. It was a very memorable Pea experience."

In fact, it was en route to soccer training that a scout spotted the 15-year-old teenager and suggested that she consider a career in modeling. Though Winberg always harbored dreams of becoming a professional soccer player, the exotic and exciting world of modeling proved to be an irresistible force.
During high school years at Rudbecks Gymnasium Winberg became best friend and classmate with Charlotte Lindström also a later model, Lindström was sentenced to prison in Australia for the 2007 hitman case. With Caroline commenting "She was blinded by love". The two models kept in contact after graduation.
Career
Winberg began her modeling modeling career at age sixteen. At seventeen she gained sudden fame, not for appearing in a well-known campaign or fashion show, but for a scandal involving herself and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.[citation needed] She claimed that the singer, who was 59 at the time, had been harassing her with phone calls after seeing her on the runway. Her parents, Thomas and Camila, even asked Jagger to leave their daughter in peace. The singer denied any such phone calls.
A year later, Winberg was booking local gigs and appearing in promotional spots for regional companies. AKA Keira Christina Knightley
Born: 26-Mar-1985
Birthplace: London, England
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Actor
Nationality: England
Executive summary: Bend It Like Beckham
Father: William Knightley (British actor, b. 23-Apr-1946)
Mother: Sharman MacDonald (playwright, b. 1951)
Brother: Caleb (b. 1979)
Boyfriend: Jamie Dornan (Irish model, ex)
Boyfriend: Del Synnott (actor, ex)
Boyfriend: Rupert Friend (actor, cohabiting 2006 onward)
Keira Christina Knightley is a Golden Globe-, BAFTA-, and Academy Award-nominated English film and television actress. She began her career as a child and came to international prominence in 2003 after co-starring in the films Bend It Like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy.
Knightley has appeared in several Hollywood films and earned an Academy Award nomination for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in Joe Wright's 2005 adaptation of Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice. She received critical praise for her newest role as Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, in The Duchess.
As of 2008, Forbes claims Knightley to be the second highest paid actress in Hollywood (behind Cameron Diaz), having reportedly earned $32 million in 2007, making her the only non-American person on the list of highest paid actors or actresses. Knightley, however has denied such a figure.
Early life
Knightley was born in Teddington, Greater London, England, the daughter of Sharman Macdonald, an award-winning playwright, and Will Knightley, a theatre and television actor. Her father is English and her mother is Scottish and of half Welsh ancestry. She has an elder brother, Caleb, who was born in 1979. Knightley lived most of her life in Richmond, attending Teddington School and Esher College. Knightley has dyslexia, but nevertheless was successful in school and was thus permitted to acquire a talent agent and pursue an acting career. She requested an agent as early as the age of three but got one when she turned six, from her mother as a reward for studying hard. Knightley has noted that she was "single-minded about acting" during her childhood. She performed in a number of local amateur productions including After Juliet (written by her mother) and United States (written by her then drama teacher, Ian McShane, no relation to the Deadwood actor).
Career
Knightley appeared in several television movies in the mid to late 1990s—as well as ITV1's The Bill—before being cast as Sabé, Padmé Amidala's decoy, in the 1999 science fiction blockbuster Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Knightley was cast in the role due to her close resemblance to Natalie Portman, who played Padmé; the two actresses' mothers had difficulty telling their daughters apart when the girls were in full makeup. Knightley's first starring role followed in 2001, when she played the daughter of Robin Hood in the made-for-television Walt Disney Productions feature, Princess of Thieves. During this time, Knightley also appeared in The Hole, a thriller that received a direct-to-video release in the United States. She appeared in a miniseries adaptation of Doctor Zhivago that first aired in 2002 to mixed reviews but high ratings.
Knightley's breakthrough role was in the football-themed film, Bend It Like Beckham, which was a success in its August 2002 UK release, grossing $18 million, and in its March 2003 U.S. release, grossing $32 million. After Bend It Like Beckham's UK release raised her profile, she was cast in the big budget action film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (along with Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp) which was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and opened in July 2003 to positive reviews and high box office grosses, becoming one of the biggest hits of summer 2003 and cementing Knightley as the new "It" girl.
Knightley had a role in the British romantic comedy Love Actually, which opened in November 2003. Though charismatic, her performance was overlooked in the crowded A-List cast. Her next film, King Arthur, opened in July 2004 to negative reviews. In the same month, Knightley was voted by readers of Hello! magazine as the film industry's most promising teen star. Additionally, Time magazine noted in a 2004 feature that Knightley seemed dedicated to developing herself as a serious actress rather than a film star.
2005 saw the release of 3 films, the first of which was The Jacket. The complex thriller starring Adrien Brody was derided by critics as unoriginal, silly and messy. Knightley was taken to task for her American accent but was otherwise dismissed by critics. Next came Tony Scott's Domino, an action film based on the life of bounty hunter Domino Harvey. The film has been Knightley's greatest critical flop to date. Knightley's critics often suggested she was nothing more than a pretty face, which led the young starlet to comment to Elle magazine, "I always feel like I’m the one with everything to prove." Pride and Prejudice rounded out 2005. For her portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet, Knightley received the greatest reviews of her career thus far. Variety wrote: "Looking every bit a star, Knightley, who's shown more spirit than acting smarts so far in her career, really steps up to the plate here, holding her own against the more classically trained Matthew Macfadyen, as well as vets like Brenda Blethyn, Donald Sutherland, Penelope Wilton, and Judi Dench with a luminous strength that recalls a young Audrey Hepburn. More than the older Jennifer Ehle in the TV series, she catches Elizabeth's essential skittishness and youthful braggadocio, making her final conversion all the more moving." The film grossed more than $100 million worldwide and Knightley earned a Golden Globe nomination and an Oscar nomination (the Oscar ultimately went to Reese Witherspoon). The Academy Award nomination made her the third-youngest performer ever nominated. BAFTA's decision not to nominate her drew criticism from Pride and Prejudice producer Tim Bevan.
In 2006, Knightley was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Her biggest financial hit thus far, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, was released in July 2006.
2007 saw the release of several films starring Knightley: Silk, an adaptation of the novel by Alessandro Baricco, Atonement, a feature film adaptation of Ian McEwan's novel of the same name (co-starring James McAvoy, Vanessa Redgrave, and Brenda Blethyn), and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, which was released in May 2007. Knightley's performance in Atonement began to generate buzz before the film was released; she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the Best Dramatic Actress category for the role, as well as a BAFTA Award. Critic Richard Roeper was puzzled by both Knightley's and McAvoy's Academy Award snubs stating "I thought McAvoy and Knightly were superb."
In the late spring of 2007, Knightley shot The Edge of Love with Cillian Murphy as her husband, Matthew Rhys as her childhood sweetheart, Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, and Sienna Miller as Thomas' wife Caitlin MacNamara. She received, for the most part, very positive reviews for her role. The 2008 release was penned by her mother, Sharman Macdonald, and directed by John Maybury. She then filmed The Duchess, based on the best-selling biography, Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire by Amanda Foreman in which she played Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire; the film was released in cinemas on 5 September 2008 in the U.K. Knightley was praised for her portrayal of Cavendish. Critic and Co-Chair of the Toronto International Film Festival, Cameron Bailey, stated that "The Duchess Of Devonshire... is a beautiful film and she gives a really mature performance. You're seeing her really turn into something beyond the kind of pretty face that we've seen her do already so well. But she's actually a very serious actress and she's turning into a great, great performer." Critic Edward Douglas wrote "we were blown away by Keira Knightley's performance in the costume drama The Duchess...Knightley is even better in it than Atonement and Pride & Prejudice."
Knightley appeared in the present-day drama Last Night, in which she co-starred with Eva Mendes, Sam Worthington and Guillaume Canet. It was directed by Massy Tadjedin
Upcoming films for 2009 include the scifi drama Never Let Me Go by Alex Garland and London Boulevard, with Colin Farrell, the script of which is written by William Monahan, who will also make his directing debut.
Knightley successfully auditioned for the role of Eliza Doolittle, in the Columbia Pictures planned remake of the stage musical My Fair Lady to be produced by Cameron Mackintosh although no release date has yet been scheduled. She will also appear in The Beautiful and the Damned, a biopic about the life and relationship of American novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald and his novelist wife Zelda Sayre.
In 2008 she was attached to play Cordelia in a big screen adaptation of King Lear which was subsequently abandoned. Knightley has confirmed that she will not be starring in the fourth installment of Pirates of the Caribbean.
Media attention
As a result of her rapid rise to fame, Knightley has been the focus of significant media attention. She has been described by press reports as "famously open with media," although Knightley herself has stated "I don't talk about my private life."
Knightley was ranked #79 by FHM in the magazine's UK Edition 2004 100 Sexiest Women in the World list, #18 in 2005, and was named "the sexiest woman in the world in 2006". The U.S. Edition ranked her #54 in 2004, #11 in 2005, and #5 in 2006. Knightley appeared nude along with Scarlett Johansson, on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine's March 2006 'Hollywood' issue. In May 2006, Knightley was #9 on Maxim's 2006 Hot 100. She was also named 'the number one beauty icon of 2007' by a poll of 2,500 people conducted by UK high street chain Superdrug.
Knightley was the celebrity face for the luxury goods brand Asprey, as well as Lux haircare products in Japanese television commercials. In April 2006, she was confirmed as the new celebrity face of Chanel's perfume Coco Mademoiselle, though the first photo from the campaign was not released until May 2007.
Knightley's Valentino gown at the 2006 Golden Globe Awards won her much acclaim and even landed her the top spot on Steven Cojocaru's "Best Dressed List" on Entertainment Tonight, while the dress she wore to the 2006 Academy Awards was donated to the charity Oxfam, where it raised £4,300.
Knightley has warned children who dream of the celebrity life that it's not all what it seems to be. "It frightens me when kids go, 'I want to be famous.'" In a recent interview with the BBC Knightley said that she feels "de-humanised." She also said that when a person becomes a celebrity, the public doesn't care that the person's life is constantly watched.
While she has no current plans to leave the world of film, Knightley has said that she could not imagine subjecting a child to the media. She is quoted as saying; "I'm not planning to have children at the moment... everyone changes, and I'm sure there will be a time I will want to do something different. I could completely see myself moving away [from acting]."
Charity work
Knightley is the face of an Amnesty International campaign to support human rights, marking the 60th anniversary of the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights. As part of the campaign, the star also made a short film. Knightley stated she wanted help raise awareness of the UDHR and human rights abuses. She said "The Udhr is something that everyone should be aware of and be proud of as a statement of our common humanity."
Knightley contributed her voice to a 2007 Robbie the Reindeer animation, all profits of which will be donated to Comic Relief. In 2004, she travelled to Ethopia with a group that included Richard Curtis, who had directed her in Love, Actually, on behalf of that charity.
Personal life
Knightley, who lives in London, is involved with her Pride and Prejudice co-star Rupert Friend. Knightley has stated she has no plans to be married in the near future. She previously dated Northern Irish fashion model Jamie Dornan, as well as actor Del Synnott, who, according to some reports, attempted suicide after their relationship ended, although Synnott and Knightley deny these claims.
Knightley has denied rumors she is anorexic (she also claimed recently in Vanity Fair magazine her slim physique was due to the Rhubarb diet), although she did say—after her appearance at the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest premiere led to media speculation that her extremely slender figure was due to an eating disorder—that her family has a history of anorexia. Keira sued the Daily Mail after they claimed she lied about having anorexia; the article said that a teenage girl died from anorexia, indicating that Knightley's physical appearance may have influenced her in some way. She was awarded a settlement for it. In July 2006, Knightley said she has become a workaholic, detailing that "the last five years have blended into one. I can't tell you what was last year and what was the year before" and specifying that she was "working too much"[56] and was "quite frightened that if I continue at this rate I will start to hate what I love," even suggesting that she would take a one-year break from acting to travel and focus on her personal life.
Knightley is a lifelong supporter of football team West Ham United F.C. and watches games in her local pub whenever possible. She has said that her favourite book is War and Peace and her favourite film is All About Eve. She is a fan of the English soap opera Emmerdale. Both Damien Rice and Jeff Buckley are among Knightley's favourite musicians, with the latter's album Grace being one of her all-time favourites.

Marcia Anne Cross (born March 25, 1962) is an Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated American actress, currently starring as Bree Hodge on the hit TV show Desperate Housewives. She is also well-known for her role as Dr. Kimberly Shaw on the prime-time soap opera Melrose Place.
Biography
Career
Cross graduated from the Juilliard School in New York, and earned a master's degree in psychology at Antioch University Los Angeles. She began her television career in 1984 on the soap opera The Edge of Night. She then moved from New York to Los Angeles, and soon landed roles in television movies such as The Last Days of Frank and Jessie James, co-starring with Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. In 1986 she joined the cast of the ABC daytime drama One Life to Live, where she played Kate Sanders, until 1987.
In 1991, Cross guest-starred on the 13th season of Knots Landing as the wife of Pierce Lawton (Bruce Greenwood). She spent a lot of her screen-time on the show confronting Paige Matheson, played by her future Desperate Housewives co-star Nicollette Sheridan.
In 1992, Cross was cast as Dr. Kimberly Shaw on the FOX drama series Melrose Place. Initially cast for one season, she so impressed the producers that they kept bringing her back for more episodes, although she curiously didn't become a full-fledged cast member in the opening credits until the fourth season. Cross' character started off as a love interest for the character of Dr. Michael Mancini, but gradually became more and more mentally unbalanced, providing some of the show's most memorable moments, which included blowing up the apartment building, trying to kill Michael, and stealing her neighbor Jo's baby. Her character's increasingly outrageous and disturbing behavior made her a firm fan favorite and one Melrose Place website listed her as the most popular character on the show. She left the show in 1997, after five seasons.
After leaving Melrose Place, Cross guest-starred on series such as Seinfeld, where she played Jerry's dermatologist girlfriend Dr. Sitarides (whom he mocked as "Pimple Popper M.D."), and Cheers, where she portrayed Susan Howe, the younger sister to Kirstie Alley's character, Rebecca Howe. She also appeared on the comedies Boy Meets World, Ally McBeal, Spin City, It's Garry Shandling's Show and King of Queens. Her dramatic roles include appearances on CSI, Profiler, Everwood and Touched by an Angel.
In 2003, prior to her role on Desperate Housewives, Cross spent a season starring as Linda Abbott on WB's critically-acclaimed series, Everwood.
In 2004, Cross landed the role of Bree Van de Kamp on the ABC dramedy series Desperate Housewives.
On stage, Cross has performed in La Ronde at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, in Twelfth Night, or What You Will at the Hartford Stage Company, and in The Two Gentlemen of Verona at the Old Globe in San Diego. Her film credits include Living in Fear, Always Say Good-bye, Dancing in September, Bad Influence, and Female Perversions.
In November 2005, Cross appeared on the cover of the newly launched Psychologies magazine in the United Kingdom where she discussed her passion for psychology and therapy.
Personal life
Cross was born in Marlborough, Massachusetts, the daughter of Janet, a teacher, and Mark Cross, a personnel manager. She is of English descent and was the long time companion of Richard Jordan. Jordan died from a brain tumor on August 30, 1993.
In early 2005, the Internet and tabloids swirled with rumors that Cross was gay and in a long-term relationship with another woman, and planning to come out of the closet. Cross actually appeared on the television show The View to deny the reports, but stated that she was very supportive of the gay community.
In August 2005, Cross' publicist also told the American celebrity newsmagazine Us Weekly that Cross had accepted the proposal of Tom Mahoney (b. 1958), a stock broker whom she had been dating for six months, and that the couple were engaged to be married. The couple got married on June 24, 2006, in front of 200 guests at the Church of Our Savior Episcopal Parish in San Gabriel, California. "It was a beautiful ceremony," a representative for Cross told People. "They're very happy."
On September 6, 2006, she announced that she was pregnant and due in April 2007 and on September 20 she revealed that she was expecting twins. On January 11, 2007, Cross was placed on precautionary bedrest until their delivery, requiring her to suspend her Desperate Housewives acting duties. However, Cross did not want to give up working, even bringing the entire cast and crew to her home to shoot some scenes in her very own bedroom. Cross's bedroom was painted to look like Bree's.
On February 20, 2007, Cross gave birth to fraternal twin daughters, Eden and Savannah at a Los Angeles hospital, shortly before Cross' 45th birthday. In an exclusive People interview, she revealed that she underwent in vitro fertilization soon after her wedding. Both children were baptized at the Trinity Episcopal Church. Cross's sister is singer songwriter, Ellen Cross.
In September 2008, Cross stated in an interview that she was "in heaven right now" looking after her newborn twins, but also stated that she has a desire to adopt a child in the near future.
In December 2008, it was announced that Cross will become the face of Mott's apple sauce.

Anastasia Griffith is a British actress best known for her role as Katie Connor on the FX legal drama Damages.
Career
Griffith's on-screen acting debut was in a minor role in the 2004 made-for-television movie She's Gone. Also in 2004, she appeared in more prominent roles in the television movie Dirty Filthy Love, the comedy film Alfie and the short film Turn, as well as featuring in The Headsman and guest-starring on the British comedy The Worst Week of My Life in 2005.
Griffith won her role as Katie Connor on the 2007 television series Damages after taking a last-minute audition a month after she moved to New York City. The role saw her with an imitated American accent; she says "[the producers] were a little concerned at first about a Brit playing an American, especially because they already had an Australian (Rose Byrne) playing an American," and so she addressed them in an American accent from beginning to end of the audition. The series has been booked for a second and third season and Todd A. Kessler, one of the show's creators/executive producers, has confirmed that Griffith will be returning in the role of Katie for the show's second season.
More recently, she has guest-starred in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and guest-starred in the television series New Amsterdam's second episode, "Golden Boy". She also plans to re-enter theatre as she says she has been "traditionally trained" at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
She also plays Liz on the BBC's online videogame/drama, CDX (http://cdx-thegame.com/).
Personal life
Born in Paris to a Northern Irish mother and American father, Griffith was raised in West London with six older brothers, one of whom is actor Jamie Bamber. She said that, growing up, although he had many opportunities, acting grabbed his attention, as it did hers, but it was her father who thought it as more fitting for a daughter to pursue an acting career than a son and did not trust the world of acting.
She completed a degree in the History of Art at the University of Bristol, but later trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art before moving into acting.

AKA Katherine Anne Stuart
Katie Anne Stuart was born on 22nd March 1985 in Vancouver in Canada.
Her career started when she started attending a Vancouver Youth theatre for fun. She got landed with an agent and then began training at Tarlington Training also in Vancouver. As she was training there, she started to get work and continued training at the same time. It then became obvious that the training was no longer necessary, and she went into full time work.
Her first professional role was in a promotion video for 'Orca Bay Sports'. Her first real TV appearance was in the TV series 'Poltergeist: The Legacy'. She also got a role in the film 'Color Me Perfect', and 'Masterminds'. She rounded of 1996 with a strongly emotional role in the TV miniseries 'Intensity'.
Her career really took off in 1997, where she starred in 'The Sentinel', 'Survival on the Mountain', and had a major role in 'Summer of the Monkeys'. She then got a role, with the potential for a more regular appearance in the popular science fiction series Stargate SG1 as the only surviving member of her race. Her appearance in the series one episode 'Singularity' of Stargate SG1 was memorable for the extremely gentle treatment she received from the cast:
"Everyone was very kind and made me feel very special, particularly Richard Dean Anderson. He kept trying to make me laugh - and usually did. He's such a great guy. Amanda and Teryl were very sweet, they really did make me feel like part of their family and, professionally, watching them work, I learned so much from them."
She also grew particularly attached to one of the extra cast members:
"The dog O'Neill gives my character at the end of the show was really, really cute. I did not want to give him back."
Katie then got a fixed role in 'The Crow: Stairway to Heaven'. She loved this series, right from when it started. She also made the following comment with regards to the similarities of her character (Sarah Mohr), and herself:
"I think I have the same kind of spunk. I'm very self-reliant, very independent and one of those kids who says I don't need anybody, but I really do."
She also starred in the BBC miniseries television adaptation of 'The Magician's House' and more recently starred in 'Too Young To Be A Dad', a huge miniseries for Miramax for ABC called 'A Wrinkle in Time', the sequel to the X-Men film 'X2' and had guest roles in 'Mysterious Ways' and the 2nd season of the series 'Dead Like Me'.
In the summer of 2005 she worked briefly on a movie called "She's the Man" with a crazy all-star cast including Vinnie Jones, David Corss, Amanda Bynes and many more. It was directed by Andy Fickman who also directed the remake of "Reefer Madness" (the musical).
In the winter of 2005, just before Christmas, she took a role on 'Augusta Gone' which is a true story about a young girl who finds herself in a lot of trouble at an early age.
"I play Bridget, Augusta's best friend at the reform camp she gets sent to. It was a heavy and intense movie...but the atmosphere on set was brilliant and incredibly comfortable. It was a real privilege to work with the director, Tim Matheson. He really knows how to get what he wants from his actors and from his crew."
While not working she enjoys hanging around and training. Last Fall she bought her first motorcycle.
"It's pretty sweet...I love it."
She hasn't been rock climbing much, but she's hoping to get back into that soon.

Genre(s) Pop, electronic
Occupation(s) Singer-songwriter, musician, DJ
Instrument(s) Vocals, piano, synthesizer,
Voice type(s) Mezzo-soprano
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta best known by her stage name Lady Gaga, is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She was born in Yonkers, New York and grew up in Manhattan, where she attended private school at Convent of the Sacred Heart and later studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. At age 20, she began working for Interscope Records as a songwriter, penning songs for pop acts such as the Pussycat Dolls. She has been influenced by glam rockers such as David Bowie and Queen as well as '80s pop singers such as Madonna and Michael Jackson..
After singer-songwriter and record producer Akon recognised that Gaga also had vocal talent, he signed her to a joint deal with his own label, Kon Live Distribution, and then started to work on her own new material for her debut album. In 2008, Gaga released The Fame, which she explained was "about how anyone can feel famous". To date, the album spawned the hit singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face", the former of which was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 51st Grammy Awards.
Early life
Gaga was born in Yonkers, New York to a internet entrepreneur father and a business partner mother, both are Italians. As a child, she attended the private Catholic school Convent of the Sacred Heart. Having learned piano by ear at the age of four, Gaga went on to write her first piano ballad at 13 and began performing at open mic nights by the age of 14 At the age of seventeen, Gaga was one of twenty people in the world to have gained early admission to the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied music. She honed her writing skills by composing essays and analytical papers focusing on topics such as art, religion and socio-policital order.
After she moved out of her parent's house, Gaga started hanging out downtown, performing in the Lower East Side club scene with bands Mackin Pulsifer and SGBand. Finding herself surrounded by singers who all wrote the same style of music, she decided to do something fresh and provocative in the rock 'n roll underground: pop music. Her entrepreneur father was shocked when she ran off to the Lower East Side to dabble in drugs and appear in burlesque shows at dive bars with drag queens and go-go dancers. "He couldn't look at me for a few months," she admits of her early experimentation. "I was in leather thongs, so it was hard for him — he just didn't understand."
Gaga got her stage name when the music producer Rob Fusari compared her vocal style to that of Freddie Mercury and took the name 'Gaga' from the Queen song, "Radio Ga-Ga". It was Fusari that helped her to write some of her early hits, including "Disco Heaven", "Dirty Ice Cream" and "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich".

In July 2002, she was cast as the lead in a feature film for Wicked called Heat, where she did her first boy-girl scene, and in September of the same year she signed an exclusive contract with Wicked. In 2004, she won the coveted Best New Starlet Award from Adult Video News, which came as a complete surprise to Daniels as she was so sure Jesse Jane would win she made a $500 bet with another porn starlet. From 2004 to 2006 she went on to direct for Wicked while continuing as a leading performer.
She has appeared in several popular men's magazines including Playboy, Hustler, Penthouse, High Society, GQ, and FHM. She has also written for FHM.

She married fellow porn actor Pat Myne in 2003, but they divorced in 2005.

AKA Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof
Born: 16 March 1989
Location: London, England
Residence Williamsburg, New York, United States
Occupation Television presenter
Years active 2005–present
Height 5 feet 4 inches
Known for Socialite
Spouse(s) Max Drummey (2008–present) (filed for divorce)
Parents Bob Geldof (father)
Paula Yates (mother)
Relatives Pixie Geldof (sister)
Hughie Green (grandfather
Peaches Honeyblossom Michelle Charlotte Angel Vanessa Geldof (previously Drummey) is a British socialite and occasional broadcaster.
Background
Geldof was born in London in 1989, the second daughter of Bob Geldof and Paula Yates. She is the granddaughter of Hughie Green. Her sisters are Fifi Trixibelle Geldof (born 1983) and Pixie Geldof (born 1990), and she also has a younger half-sister, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily Hutchence (born 1996).
She grew up in Chelsea, and sat AS-level exams in 2006 in History Of Art, Classical Civilisation, Politics, and English at Queen's College, London. She currently lives in Williamsburg, New York and attends New York University.
Life in the spotlight
Geldof wrote and presented her own reality TV programme, Peaches Geldof: Teenage Mind in 2005, which was followed up with Peaches Geldof: Teen America, which aired on Sky One in the UK on 1 March 2006. She has recently worked as a guest reporter for Tonight with Trevor McDonald for the ITV network and presented The beginner's guide to Islam and T4's coverage of the NME Awards 2007 for Channel 4. She has also penned a number of columns and articles for The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and Elle Girl magazine. In 2006, Geldof was placed at number seven in the Tatler's list of Top Ten Fashion Icons for the year, the youngest person on the list. In 2007, readers of FHM voted her the 53rd sexiest woman in the world. In November 2007 it was reported that Geldof was lined up to present a new version of The Tube, a TV music magazine show which made the former presenter, her mother Paula Yates, a star in the 1980s.
Geldof has received criticism for her party lifestyle, sometimes perceived as wild and self-destructive, with critics noting her lack of years, access to wealth and hunger for fame as potential problems. Pete Doherty blamed his poor performance at 2005's Live 8 concert on Peaches making a "suggestive" comment to him shortly before he went onstage, which the teenager denied. However, opinion remains divided both among the press and those purportedly close to her, with many sources describing her as balanced and down to earth whereas in her 2005 TV show Teenage Mind she doesn't appear down to earth at all, actually rather condescending. She famously branded fashion gurus Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine "upper-class bitches with no fashion sense."
In September 2007 Geldof made her catwalk debut modelling for PPQ at London Fashion Week. She was also announced as the face of the Australian fashion line Dotti. Together with friend Fifi Brown, she also performs in a DJ-ing duo known as Trash Pussies.
In September 2007 Geldof was featured in the British Hello! magazine wearing three dresses, which were claimed to have been Marilyn Monroe's movie costumes. The magazine paid £7,000 for a cover shoot to dress Peaches Geldof in the gowns, which were claimed to have been created by Oscar-winning costume designer William Travilla. An exhibition connected to the Peaches Geldof photo shoot, in October 2007, was named the 'Lost Collection' of William Travilla. The Hilton Hotel chain offered to host the exhibition. A second exhibition stop, scheduled for Bath, was cancelled before its opening and shortly after the authenticity of the Peaches Geldof worn dresses was questioned by the media.
Premiering on 19 October 2008 was Peaches: Disappear Here, a MTV One reality show in which Peaches founds a new youth-orientated magazine. Initial audiences were small and critical response has been largely negative.
Personal life
Tabloid coverage of her lifestyle has centred mainly on her many celebrity boyfriends, including Donny Tourette, Frederick Blood-Royale, and Joe Van Moyland, although this rumour was vehemently denied by Peaches herself. She most recently dated Faris Badwan of the band The Horrors.
On 5 August 2008, Geldof married Max Drummey, an American musician from the band Chester French, at A Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. In a statement on 12 August 2008, the couple said they were "delighted to announce their very happy marriage." They also have each other's names tattooed on their hands. The couple announced on February 7, 2009 that their marriage had amicably ended. According to a report in the Sun newspaper, Peaches had throughout the marriage "shown herself to be an uncaring, spoilt, rude and completely selfish person who lives in her own little bubble."

Sasha Grey is the stage name of an award winning American porn star. She is also active outside of pornography through modelling, acting and music.
Biography
Early life
Grey attended Highlands High in North Highlands, California where she held a 3.8 grade average, after which she was home schooled. Her restless upbringing drew her to adopt an interest in the arts ranging from books, music, acting, writing and experimental performance art, primarily theater, in which she first started at the age of 12 in 2000. While making her rounds in the world of experimental film she bussed tables and attended college, all while researching the adult industry.
Adult career
In May 2006 Grey moved to Los Angeles and started her career in adult films just after turning 18. Originally she toyed with the name Anna Karina (the name of Jean-Luc Godard's ex-wife) before deciding on her present name. She has stated the name "Sasha" was taken from Sascha Konietzko of the band KMFDM, and "Grey" represents Oscar Wilde’s novel The Picture of Dorian Gray and the Kinsey scale of sexuality. Her first scene was an orgy with Rocco Siffredi for The Fashionistas 2 by John Stagliano. It has been reported she "shocked" her fellow performer by requesting to be punched in the stomach during fellatio. Though Grey does not deny saying this, she emphasizes the request was "an exercise in improvisational fantasy." This resonates to what Grey once wrote in regards to herself as a person and as an artist: "I wanted to express my sexuality as a strong woman, to push my own boundaries and see which part of my psyche would take me to my next euphoric sexual experience." Nearly six months after entering the adult industry Grey was featured in the November 2006 edition of Los Angeles where she was flagged as a potential major star, perhaps the next Jenna Jameson.
Less than a year after entering the industry (January 2007) Grey was the recipient of awards for Best Three Way Sex Scene and Best Group Scene at the prestigious AVN adult movie awards. The following May she was also presented with the Best New Starlet award by the X Rated Critics Organization. Grey was named Pet of The Month for July 2007 (the spread is considered to be a radical change for the magazine as it was photographed by fashion photographer Terry Richardson) In October 2007 she starred in (and suggested the title for) the movie Broken, directed by Dave Navarro. In 2008 she became the youngest person to win the AVN Female Performer of the Year award.
Media attention
In December 2006 Grey was interviewed on the syndicated entertainment industry news show The Insider. In February 2007, she appeared on The Tyra Banks Show to participate in the topic of teenagers in the sex industry. She later claimed through her own blog and YouTube that the televised interview represented her poorly and the show's staff changed her clothing and hairstyle to make her appear younger, which became the target of criticism by Tyra Banks for Grey's choice to go into adult film. On the show, Banks expressed her theory that there had to be a "reason" related to abuse that caused Grey to make the choice of pornography despite Grey's insistence that entering the adult industry was a calculated career choice. Banks described Grey's disposition as "...cold, distant and hard," although she thanked Grey for attending the show. In an interview Grey stated: "Despite the controversy that surrounds this industry, I felt I could ultimately bring an enigmatic quality to it. I decided that if my instinct continued to push me toward the reality of this, and the dissatisfaction with my education continued, I would seize the opportunity on my own."
Grey was profiled in the Rolling Stone "Hot Issue" for the December 2008 edition.
Activity outside of pornography
Modelling
Grey was featured in the art work for The Smashing Pumpkins 2007 album Zeitgeist, and appears in their 2008 music video "Superchrist". Grey was also featured in the music video for the song "Birthday Girl", by the Roots.
She has modeled for American Apparel and Richard Kern for Vice Anti-fashion spread and appeared in a three part VBS program, "Shot by Kern". She also appeared in Taschen’s 25th anniversary re-print of Terry Richardson’s: Terryworld. Among other collaborations with Richardson she was also appeared in Wives, Wheels, Weapons (a companion book to James Frey's Bright Shiny Morning). Her appeal has reached many spectrums including the fine art world, as she has also modeled for artists James Jean and David Choe, while also inspiring French artist Frédéric Poincelet for countless sketches in his ongoing work with Frederic Magazine, in addition to a two page spread with the renowned Liberation magazine in France.
Acting
She appeared in the television series PG Porn by James Gunn, as well as a cameo role in Dick Rude's independent film Quit which demonstrates Grey's work outside of pornography, and stars in the upcoming Canadian low-budget black comedy/horror film Smash Cut from the Ottawa based Odessa/Zed Filmworks, where she plays a TV news personality who goes undercover as an actress in a horror film only to discover the killer of her older sister. In October 2008, it was reported that Steven Soderbergh has cast her as the lead actress for his upcoming film The Girlfriend Experience.
Music
In 2008, Grey began a music project, ATelecine, with Pablo St. Francis. ATelecine practices a style indebted to industrial music founders such as Throbbing Gristle, Boyd Rice, and Coil. Their first (7 inch vinyl only) EP, AVigillant Carpark, was released by New York label Pendu Sound in December. She also contributed vocals to Lee "Scratch" Perry's 2008 album Repentance, on the track "Pum Pum".
Personal life
Grey represents herself in the adult industry through her own agency L.A. Factory Girls, while The Spread Group manages her mainstream affairs. Since 2006 she has been developing a documentary that illustrates her experience from the age of 18 to 21. She is engaged to her photographer Ian Cinnamon, which Fleshbot announced in January 2009.
Grey has expressed a strong interest in existentialism while posing the question "how many 18 year-old porn stars are existentialist?" She cites either Jean-Luc Godard or David Bowie as the biggest influences on her life and career.

AKA Lisa Anne Loeb
Born: 11-Mar-1968
Birthplace: Bethesda, MD
Gender: Female
Religion: Jewish
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Singer/Songwriter
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Stay (I Missed You)
Brother: Ben (conductor)
Boyfriend: David Duchovny (dated briefly in 1990s)
Boyfriend: Dweezil Zappa (ex-, dated until 2004)
Husband: Roey Hershkovitz (January 31, 2009-)
Lisa Anne Loeb is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She launched her career in 1994 with the Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling No. 1 hit song, "Stay (I Missed You)". To this day, she is still the only artist to have a number one single while not signed to a recording contract. Loeb carried the momentum of her early success into a multi-dimensional career encompassing music, film, television, voice-over work and children’s recordings. Her five acclaimed studio CDs include her major label debut, the gold-selling Tails and its follow-up, the Grammy-nominated, gold-selling Firecracker. She tours worldwide and in recent years has captivated a younger audience as she released award-winning Catch the Moon in 2007, followed by Camp Lisa in 2008. In conjunction with Camp Lisa, she launched her own non-profit, The Camp Lisa Foundation, designed to help underprivileged kids attend summer camp through its partnership with Summer Camp Opportunities Provide an Edge, Inc. (S.C.O.P.E.). Loeb has starred in two television series, “Dweezil and Lisa,” a weekly culinary adventure for the Food Network and No. 1 Single, a dating show on the E! Network in 2006.
Early years
Loeb was born in Bethesda, Maryland, and raised in Dallas, Texas where she attended The Hockaday School, an all-girls private school. Her parents still live in Dallas, where her mother is a homemaker and her father, Peter Loeb, is a gastroenterologist. She has three siblings all of whom are musically talented: conductor Benjamin Loeb, musician Debbie, and mixing-engineer Philip Loeb. After graduating from high school in 1986, she went to Brown University, where she graduated in 1990 with a degree in comparative literature. At Brown, she and Elizabeth Mitchell formed a band named Liz and Lisa, including future singer/songwriter and Brown classmate Duncan Sheik as a guitarist. The duo released the albums Liz and Lisa (1989) and Liz and Lisa: Days Were Different (1990) independently. After college, the influential jazz/rock bassist Rick Lassiter as well as TV and film composer/drummer, Chad Fisher joined the band.
After developing a following together, Loeb and Mitchell parted ways a few years after college. Mitchell continued playing with the modern rock band Ida, while Loeb began her solo career. Around that time Loeb began working with Juan Patiño to make the Purple Tape, the aptly titled, violet-hued cassette that Loeb used as a sonic calling card to industry gatekeepers and that fans could buy at her gigs. Produced by Patiño and recorded at his apartment on 52nd Street in 1992, the cassette includes the earliest recordings of several Loeb favorites including “Do You Sleep,” “Snow Day,” “Train Songs,” and “It’s Over.” Loeb also took this time to record her band playing some other songs, one of which was "Stay (I Missed You)." During the same time, she was recording a band demo with Kevin Salem for a record company demo deal.
Loeb had also developed a following from her solo acoustic performances on the New York City coffeehouse circuit and the rock club circuit. She toured some, traveling to cities such as Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Dallas, but focusing mainly on New York City. She played acoustically and with her band in clubs that ran the gamut from folk to rock, including The Bitter End, CBGB’s, CB's Gallery, The Wetlands, Lonestar Roadhouse and more. Loeb also performed in several music festivals, such as New Music Seminar and South by Southwest.
Loeb's big break came when she was discovered by actor and friend Ethan Hawke, who lived in an apartment across the street from her in New York City. They met through mutual friends in the NYC theater community. Loeb gave Hawke the tape of Juan Patiño’s version of "Stay (I Missed You)" to director Ben Stiller during the making of the 1994 film Reality Bites. Stiller subsequently decided to use the song in the film’s ending credits, and Ron Fair decided to put it on the soundtrack on RCA records. "Stay" ultimately went on to become a number one hit on the American charts. When her song hit number one, Loeb earned the distinction of being the only artist to top the Hot 100 before being signed to any record label. Hawke also directed a rare one-take video of “Stay” with no edits.
Recording career
In September 1995, Loeb's debut album, Tails, was released. The album was co-produced by Juan Patiño, her then longtime boyfriend. Although none of the singles from Tails matched the breakthrough appeal of "Stay" (which was also included on this album), Loeb still managed a top 20 hit with "Do You Sleep?" and two moderately successful radio hits with "Taffy" and "Waiting for Wednesday". Tails went on to achieve Gold status.
In 1997 Loeb released a second major-label album, Firecracker, and began experimenting even more with orchestrations done with Dan Coleman. At this point, Loeb started going under her own name for the albums instead of using the band name, Nine Stories (named after the J. D. Salinger collection), although she still continued to tour world-wide with the band and acoustically as she had done from the start. Critically praised, Firecracker included hit singles such as "I Do," which received radio success, peeking at #17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and music television. In 2000, Loeb participated in the Ozzy Osbourne tribute album Bat Head Soup performing Goodbye to Romance with Dweezil Zappa on guitar. She also contributed to An All Star Tribute To Cher with “Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves,” and to An All Star Tribute To Shania Twain with “Don’t Be Stupid,” both of which were released in 2005.
Her greatest hits compilation, The Very Best of Lisa Loeb, was released through Universal in January 2006 as well as a Japanese version of the album. Other international work includes Loeb’s guest performance on the song “Anti-Hero” for an all-female Japanese musical group Rin's album Inland Sea. In 2006, Loeb contributed to the album “A World of Happiness,” designed to disseminate messages of kindness, compassion, tolerance, and self-reliance to children of all ages, performing as Lady Leonali the Ladybug singing “In the Details.” Loeb contributed vocals to New Found Glory's cover of "Stay," from on their 2007 LP From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II, as well as performing the song live with the band. Though Reality Bites was the first, Loeb’s music has been featured in additional soundtracks. The popular single "How" was included on the soundtracks for films Twister and Jack Frost, and was heard in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Homecoming." “We Could Still Belong Together” earned a spot on the Legally Blonde soundtrack (2001), while “I Wish” can be heard on the soundtrack for Anywhere But Here (1999).
Cake and Pie, Loeb’s third album and debut for A&M/Interscope, was released in 2002. She co-produced the album and collaborated with an impressive cast, which included Glen Ballard, then boyfriend Dweezil Zappa, Randy Scruggs (Vince Gill, Sawyer Brown, Waylon Jennings), and Peter Collins (Bon Jovi, the Indigo Girls). In mid-2002, Loeb inked a deal with Artemis, a new boutique label run by record company veteran-experts Danny Goldberg and Daniel Glass, after Interscope allowed her to buy the rights to her masters. Artemis had come to Loeb and Ron Stone, offering to re-release the record with more promotion. With new artwork, some songs added and some removed, Cake and Pie was re-launched as Hello Lisa, a play on Sanrio’s signature "Hello Kitty," who appears on the album cover wearing Lisa Loeb's trademark glasses. Lisa released an EP with just the new songs on it, as well as an alternate version of the song "Underdog" for fans who'd already purchased the Cake and Pie CD. Lisa made a video for "Underdog" co-starring Hello Kitty playing guitar directed by Lisa and Dweezil. Loeb toured the world again, making special stops in Sanrio stores for in-store autographs while appearing with Hello Kitty at the Japanese MTV Music Awards. The Sanrio/Loeb combination proved a success, as the look complimented her eccentric style, boosting her popularity in Hollywood.
In 2003 Loeb reunited with her college music partner, Elizabeth Mitchell on children’s CD and companion book Catch the Moon through Aretmis Records. Videos from this album as well as the single “Jenny Jenkins” have been featured on the Noggin TV network for children, alongside those of Laurie Berkner and Dan Zanes, rockers who have also crossed over into the children's music field.
In 2004, Loeb signed to the more experienced and established independent label Zoe/Rounder Records, home of Grammy Award winners Robert Plant and Allison Krauss. The Way It Really Is was released August 2004 as Loeb's fifth studio-recorded album.
The year 2008 proved a productive year for Loeb, as she released the long-awaited Purple Tape album remixed and remastered on a double CD, with an in-depth interview by Andy Denemark, highlighting the creative process for each song to accompany extensive liner notes and photos documenting Lisa’s early history in NYC through Lisa’s own Furious Rose Productions, sixteen years after her self-release of the cassette version in 1994.
Her most recent release was Camp Lisa, also released by Loeb’s own Furious Rose Productions with distribution through Redeye, and produced by Loeb with Michelle Lewis and Dan Petty. The disc includes a mix of 21 original and classic camp songs and some very special guest performers including Kay Hanley, Dave Gibbs, Nina Gordon, Jill Sobule, Lee Sklar, Maia Sharp and funnyman /banjo player Steve Martin. As Loeb spent many summers of her childhood at summer camp, Camp Lisa is largely inspired by her own cherished camp memories as well as 70s-style rock and pop. Camp Lisa has garnered a great deal of award recognition including NAPPA Honors, 2008 Parents' Choice and NPR's year-end Top 10 list of the best kids music for 2008. In conjunction with the release of Camp Lisa, Loeb launched her own non-profit organization, The Camp Lisa Foundation, which helps raise funds to send underprivileged kids to camp through its partnership with Summer Camp Opportunities Provide an Edge, Inc. (S.C.O.P.E.), a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide children in need the edge to succeed in life through the summer camp experience. In 2009 The Camp Lisa Foundation will provide funding for several "camperships," enabling economically disadvantaged children to attend ACA accredited camps.
Loeb tours with and without her band, recently touring with Daru Oda and Adam Levy. Other band members include: Mark Spencer, Matt Beck, Ronny Crawford, Joe Quigley, Joe Travers, Mark Meadows, Michael Eisenstein, Dave Gibbs, and Leland Sklar, who plays on a number of albums.
Acting & Television Appearances
On January 16, 2004, Loeb's reality show Dweezil & Lisa first aired on Food Network, in which she shared title billing with then-boyfriend, Dweezil Zappa. The series showed the two musicians touring the country together and sampling unique and diverse dishes. In the opening for each episode Loeb announced she was a vegetarian who enjoyed eating an occasional piece of bacon. In the fall and winter of 2005, Loeb taped a reality show, #1 Single, premiering in January 2006 on the E! Channel in New York City. The show focused on her quest for love, success, career and family.
Loeb has made several guest appearances on television shows such as The Nanny in 1997, and Cupid, the following year. In 2008, she made a guest appearance on Gossip Girl, followed by a cameo on a recent episode of The Sarah Silverman Program --where the cast formed a mock band called the “Loeb Trotters.”.
In addition to television shows, Loeb has also appeared in the horror films House on Haunted Hill (1999) and Serial Killing 101 (2004). She has done voice work including the voice of Mary Jane Watson for the animated show Spider-Man: The New Animated Series, broadcast on MTV. Loeb also voiced the character of Lutina in the video game Grandia Xtreme and characters for The Rugrats Movie and Shorty McShorts' Shorts.
Style
In 2008, Loeb was one of the contributors to Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna's book Cherry Bomb along with Dita Von Teese, Jessicka, Tori Amos, Cherie Currie of the Runaways, Terri Nunn, Kat Von D, Katy Perry, Samantha Maloney, Betsey Johnson, Anna Sui, and Louise Post. She gave advice on how to be the perfect hostess.
Loeb also endorsed Mark Bittman’s cookbook “How to Cook Everything,” a source of Loeb’s culinary inspiration, in 2008.
As she continues to set trends in and out of the recording studio, Loeb will be releasing her own line of eyewear in Fall 2009.

Thora Birch (born March 11, 1982) is an American actress. She was a leading child actor in the 1990s, starring in movies such as Hocus Pocus (1993), Now and Then (1995), and Alaska (1996). Since the 1990s she has moved on to more mature roles, in films such as American Beauty (1999) and Ghost World (2001).
Biography
Early life and career
Birch was born in Los Angeles, California, the eldest child of Jack Birch and Carol Connors. Both parents (her business managers from the start) are former adult film actors. Carol Connors and Jack Birch both appeared in the pornographic film Deep Throat.
Her family comes from German-Jewish ancestry. She has a younger brother by the name of Bolt Birch. Her name Thora is derived from the name of the Norse God of thunder and lightning, Thor. She is a vegetarian and is trained in karate with a blue belt in particular.
From an early age, Birch's parents encouraged her to audition for commercials. She landed several parts, including advertisements for Quaker Oats and Vlasic Pickles. Her first acting job followed. In 1988, she landed the role of Molly in the short-lived television series Day By Day. She was billed simply as "Thora." That same year she won a part in the movie Purple People Eater opposite Ned Beatty and Neil Patrick Harris. Her performance won her a Youth In Film Award.
Paradise
Birch's breakthrough role came in 1991 when she was cast as 'tomboy' Billie Pike in the movie Paradise which also starred Don Johnson, Melanie Griffith, and Elijah Wood. To obtain the role, she had to compete with more than 4,000 other young hopefuls who auditioned for it. Birch received critical praise for her performance.
1991-1995
Birch's ability to portray herself as a young tomboy landed her several parts during the period of 1991-1995, including the role of Dani in Hocus Pocus (1993). She won leading roles in such films as All I Want for Christmas (1991) and Monkey Trouble (1994). She appeared in two Harrison Ford films, Patriot Games (1992) and its sequel, Clear and Present Danger (1994).
Now & Then
Birch's performance in the 1995 film Now and Then teamed her with Gaby Hoffmann, Christina Ricci, Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, and Melanie Griffith. Directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, the film is about four friends who have been so preoccupied with their own lives that they have not seen one another for some time until the impending birth of one of their babies reunites them. Upon reuniting, they reminisce about events during the summer of 1970, when they were 12, which were ultimately influential in shaping their lives. It was during that summer, a mixture of both happy and sad events, that they realized that adulthood was fast approaching, that they began to work out what life was about and what they wished to do with their own lives. They also promised to be there for another, hence the reason why they were reuniting for the birth of the baby. The film was a female take on the film Stand by Me.
Alaska
In 1996, she landed a leading role in the adventure film, Alaska (1996). She played the role of Jessie Barnes, who has moved to Alaska with her father (played by Dirk Benedict) and brother after the death of her mother. Her father is a former airline pilot and upon moving to Alaska, he starts earning a living by delivering supplies to small towns in the Alaskan wilderness in his light aircraft. While making a delivery, his plane crashes into a mountainside. Concluding that not enough was being done to locate him, Jessie and her brother set out on a successful attempt to find him with the help of a baby polar bear.
1996-1999: break from acting
After guest-starring appearances in the The Outer Limits, Promised Land, and Touched by an Angel, Birch took a break from acting. In 1999, she returned in the made-for-TV movie Night Ride Home and also took a small uncredited role in the Natalie Portman film Anywhere but Here. She was initially cast in the role of Tammy Metzler in the dark-comedy Election, but ended up leaving after only the third day of filming due to disagreements with director/writer Alexander Payne. Jessica Campbell was then given the role of Metzler.
American Beauty
Later in 1999, Birch won enormous critical praise playing the role of Jane Burnham in American Beauty and was nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts award. The movie itself went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. As Birch was barely 17 at the time she made the film, and thus classified as a minor in the United States, her parents had to approve her brief topless scene in the movie and they and child labor representatives were on the set for the shooting of it.
Ghost World
After leading roles in The Smokers (2000), Dungeons & Dragons (2000), and The Hole (2001), Birch landed the leading role in Ghost World, alongside Scarlett Johansson, Steve Buscemi, and Brad Renfro. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance.
2001 to 2008
Birch's most notable roles since 2001 have been that of Liz Murray in Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story (2003) and April in Slingshot (2005). Recent films include Dark Corners (in which she appeared in the lead role as a woman who wakes up one day as a different person and ends up being stalked by gruesome creatures), Tainted Love, and Winter of Frozen Dreams.
An incident during the filming of the last of these has proven controversial. The crew of The Winter of Frozen Dreams were quoted as being disturbed when the 25-year-old American Beauty star's father and manager insisted on watching her graphic scenes with 44-year-old Dean Winters. Sources told the New York Post newspaper: "It was so wrong. The director is saying, 'Harder! Faster!' and the father is giving Winters the thumbs up," and "it was the most bizarre, perverse scene. One girl on the crew broke down crying."
Birch stars in the film Train alongside her brother, Bolt Birch. The movie entails a trip to Europe for a group of American college athletes who unknowingly board a train that is occupied by a brutal killer. Birch has also been negotiating to have a part in the 2009 film Frail.
Future ambition
Birch has indicated that she aspires to become a director and has recently begun directing short video sketches for a sketch comedy troupe called The Doomed Planet. The sketches can be seen on her official website.

AKA Katharine Isabelle Murray
Born: 10-Mar-1982
Birthplace: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Occupation: Actor
Nationality: Canada
Executive summary: Ginger Snaps
Father: Graeme Murray (actor)
Mother: Gail
Brother: Joshua Murray (magazine editor, b. 1978)
Katharine has appeared in many, mostly Canadian, and American movies, and TV series episodes; her career began in 1988, in the movie Cousins (1989), starring Ted Danson and Isabella Rossellini. She co-starred with Emily Perkins in Ginger Snaps (2000).
Katharine's tour de force to date, (and the work she is most proud of) was in the 2001 indie movie Turning Paige, alongside Nicholas Campbell. The film, despite critical acclaim, went without commercial release.
2002 included supporting roles in the remake of Carrie (TVM) as Tina Blake, and a minor role in Insomnia. In 2003, further supporting roles in the minor indy On The Corner (no commercial release), and in the form of Gibb in the dire Freddy vs. Jason, which Katharine hated with a passion, making her disappointment with the movie known before its release. At the end of the year there was a major role in Falling Angels (no commercial release). 2004 brought the supporting role of Amber in the earnest The Life (TVM), followed by a lead role in The Last Casino (TVM), and in the (limited release) indy thriller Show Me. Making a belated addition to the original in 2004 were the Ginger Snaps sequels: Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (in which Katharine took a minor role), and Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning, made back-to-back on a sorely limited budget. Katharine had to be cajoled into participating in them. Her reticence would prove well founded as GS2 bombed at the box office, and GS Back went straight to video.
Unfortunately her reticence didn't extend to refusing Al Pacino's (Insomnia) advice regarding stage work. Katharine would make her theatre debut in Toronto in September 2004 with Marcello Cabezas and Jason Lewis in a critically poorly received adaptation of Kenneth Lonergan's This Is Our Youth, a minor work of very little moment.
2006 included Eight Days To Live (TVM) and Engaged To Kill (TVM), relatively minor works, neither of which would be well received by critics.
Katharine and Emily Perkins (Ginger Snaps) were born in the same hospital, went to the same pre-school, elementary and private schools, and are at the same agency.

Born: 9-Mar-1964
Birthplace: Paris, France
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Actor, Model
Nationality: France
Executive summary: Chocolat and The English Patient
Father: Jean-Marie Binoche
Mother: Monique Stalens
Sister: Marion Stalens (actress and photographer)
Boyfriend: Andre Halle (scuba diver, ex-, one son)
Son: Raphaël (b. Sep-1993)
Boyfriend: Oliver Martinez (ex-, together 1994-97)
Boyfriend: Benoît Magimel (actor, together 1999-2003, one daughter)
Daughter: Hannah (b. 2000)
Binoche was born in Paris to Jean-Marie Binoche, a director, actor, and sculptor, and Monique Stalens, a teacher, director, and actress. Binoche's mother is Polish, and her maternal grandparents were imprisoned at Auschwitz because they were intellectuals. Binoche also has French, Flemish, Brazilian and Moroccan ancestry. Her parents divorced when she was four and Binoche, with her sister Marion, was sent to a boarding school.
Binoche began acting in amateur stage productions, and at 17 she directed and starred in a student production of the Eugène Ionesco play, Exit the King. The next year, she studied acting at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts of Paris (CNSAD). She found an agent through a friend and joined a theatre troupe in which she toured France, Belgium and Switzerland under the pseudonym of "Juliette Adrienne."
After quiting the CNSAD, she began acting lessons with famed coach Vera Gregh. Following in her mother's footsteps, she became a stage actress, occasionally taking small parts in French feature films. Her first screen role was a small part in the 1983 television film Dorothée, danseuse de corde by Jacques Fensten, which was followed by a similarly small role in the provincial television film Fort bloque by Pierrick Guinnard. When Binoche secured her first big screen appearance with a small supporting role in Pascal Kané's Algeria-themed Liberty Belle, she decided to pursue a career in cinema.
1984 to 1991
Binoche's early films saw her firmly established as a French star of some renown. The recurring themes of these films were of contemporary young women exploring their lives and their sexuality. Small roles in Les Nanas (1984) and Adieu blaireau (1985) led to more significant exposure in Jean-Luc Godard's Je Vous Salue, Marie and Jacques Doillon's La Vie de Famille which cast her as the teenage step-daughter of Sami Frey's character. This film was to set the theme and tone of the early career.
In 1985 Juliette Binoche secured the lead role in André Téchiné's Rendez-vous. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival that year, winning Best Director. In 1986, Binoche was nominated for her first César Award for Best Actress for the film. Binoche's next film was a role in Mon beau-frère a tué ma sœur by Jacques Rouffio, which was a critical and commercial failure. Later that year, she starred opposite Michel Piccoli in Léos Carax's Mauvais Sang. This film, however, was a critical and commercial success, leading to Binoche's second César Award nomination.
In August 1986 she portrayed Tereza in Philip Kaufman's The Unbearable Lightness of Being based on the Milan Kundera novel. This was Binoche's first English language role and was a worldwide success with critics and audiences alike. After this success, Binoche decided to return to France rather than pursue an international career.
In 1988 she filmed the lead in Pierre Pradinas's Un tour de manège, a little-seen French film. Later that year she began work on Léos Carax's Les Amants du Pont-Neuf. The film was beset by problems and took three years to complete. When it was released in 1991, The Lovers on the Bridge was a critical success. Binoche won a European Film Award for best actress as well as her third César Award nomination.
1992 to 2000
Following the long shoot of Les Amants du Pont-Neuf, Binoche relocated to London for the 1992 productions of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and Damage, both of which considerably developed her international reputation. For Damage Binoche received her fourth César Award nomination. In 1993 she appeared in Krzysztof Kieslowski's Three Colors: Blue to much critical acclaim. The film premiered at the 1993 Venice Film Festival. The film also landed Binoche a César Award for Best Actress as well as a Golden Globe nomination. Following this success, she took a short sabbatical during which she became mother of a son, Raphael.
In 1995 Binoche appeared in a big-budget adaptation of Jean Giono's The Horseman on the Roof directed by Jean-Paul Rappeneau. The film was a box-office success around the world and Binoche was again nominated for a César Award for Best Actress. This role as a romantic heroine was to color the direction of many of her roles in the late 1990s.
In 1996, Binoche appeared in A Couch in New York by Chantal Akerman. The film was a flop, but another 1996 film, The English Patient, based on the acclaimed novel and directed by Anthony Minghella, was a worldwide hit. It garnered nine Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actress for Binoche.
After this international hit, Binoche returned to France and began work on Claude Berri's Lucie Aubrac opposite Daniel Auteuil, which was based on a true story. Binoche was released from the movie six weeks into the shoot, however, over differences with Berri regarding the authenticity of his script. Next she worked again with André Téchiné for Alice et Martin (1998) followed in 1999 by Children of the Century in which Binoche played the role of 19th-century French writer George Sand.
2000 saw Binoche appear in four successful, but different, roles. Firstly was La Veuve de Saint-Pierre by Patrice Leconte which saw Binoche nominated for a César Award for best actress. Next she appeared in Michael Haneke's Code Unknown, a film which was made following Binoche's approach to the Austrian director. Binoche made her Broadway debut in Harold Pinter's Betrayal for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Back on screen, Binoche was the heroine of the Lasse Hallstrom film Chocolat for which she won a European Film Award for Best Actress and was nominated for an Academy Award and a BAFTA.
Between 1995 and 2000, Binoche was the advertising face of the Lancôme scent Pôeme, her image adorning print campaigns and a TV advertising campaign. There were three commercials featuring Binoche for the perfume, including an advert directed by Anthony Minghella and scored by Gabriel Yared.
2001 to 2006
Following the success of Chocolat, Juliette Binoche returned to France for an unlikely role. Jet Lag (2002) opposite Jean Reno saw Binoche play a ditzy beautician. The film was a box-office hit in France and saw Binoche once again nominated for a César Award for best actress. In 2003, Binoche featured in an Italian TV commercial for the chocolates Ferrero Rocher. This ad played upon her Chocolat persona and featured Binoche handing Rochers to people on the streets of Paris. Next Binoche went to South Africa to film John Boorman's In My Country (2004) opposite Samuel L. Jackson.
Binoche then teamed up with Michael Haneke again for Caché in 2005. The film was an immediate success, winning best director at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. Binoche was nominated for a European Film Award for Best Actress for her role. Binoche's next film was Bee Season with Richard Gere. Mary (2005) saw Binoche collaborate with Abel Ferrara for an investigation of modern faith and Mary Magdalene's position in the Catholic Church. The film was an immediate success, winning the Grand Prix at the 2005 Venice Film Festival.
2006 saw Binoche take part in the portmanteau work Paris, je t'aime appearing in a section directed by Nobuhiro Suwa. Binoche appeared at the 2006 Venice Film Festival to launch A Few Days in September, by Santiago Amigorena. Later in the month she traveled to the Toronto Film Festival for the premiere of Breaking and Entering, her second film with Anthony Minghella in the director's chair.
2007 onwards
2007 marks one of Juliette Binoche's busiest years. The Cannes Film Festival saw the premiere of Le Voyage du Ballon Rouge by the Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-Hsien. The film was well received by international critics and will debut around the world throughout 2007. Currently awaiting release are Dan in Real Life with Steve Carell, Paris by Cédric Klapisch and Désengagement by Amos Gitai. As of July 2007 Binoche is busy at work on L'Heure D'été by Olivier Assayas. Following that Binoche will star in Certified Copy for Abbas Kiarostami and The Other Man for Richard Eyre opposite Liam Neeson. In the July 2007 issue of Cahiers du Cinema Binoche mentioned that she would be auditioning for the Rob Marshall musical Nine, currently in pre-production.
Personal life
Binoche has two children: Raphaël (born on September 2, 1993), whose father is Andre Halle, a professional scuba diver, and Hana (December 16, 1999), whose father is French actor Benoît Magimel, with whom Binoche starred in the 1999 film Children of the Century. Binoche is currently romantically involved with Argentine writer/director Santiago Amigorena.
Painting
In the 1991 film Les Amants du Pont-Neuf, in which Binoche portrays an artist, the paintings used in the film were Binoche's own work. She also designed the poster for the film.

AKA Regina Marie Fischer
Born: 7-Mar-1974
Birthplace: Fort Wayne, IN
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Actor
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Pam Beesly on The Office
Father: Jim Fischer
Mother: Anne Fischer (schoolteacher)
Sister: Emily Fischer
Husband: James Gunn (film industry, m. 7-Oct-2000, sep. 4-Sep-2007)
Fischer’s television series credits prior to joining the cast of The Office include guest-starring roles on Six Feet Under as Sharon Kinney, That '70s Show, Cold Case, Miss Match, Strong Medicine, What I Like About You, Off Centre, Undeclared and Spin City. She also appeared on Bravo's Celebrity Poker Showdown, during the series shot in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Her feature-film credits include Employee of the Month, Slither, Lucky 13, The Specials and The Brothers Solomon. She co-starred as Katie in Blades of Glory. She starred in a music video for Willie Wisely's single, "Through Any Window", directed by long-time friend John Cabrera of Gilmore Girls. Fischer also had a starring role in a 2003 Instant Films short subject called The Girl's Guide to Summer, directed by Instant Film's cofounder (and Hollywood camera operator) Charles Papert.
Fischer talked about her career aspirations in an interview with the student newspaper, The Index, at Truman State University, her alma mater:
“ Honestly it would be great to get to play Pam for a long, long time ... ," she said. "I don't have real big aspirations to be a movie star. I would love to be on a long-running hit TV show. You end up playing a defining role.”
LolliLove
Fischer wrote, directed, and starred in the mockumentary LolliLove, co-starring her husband James Gunn, Linda Cardellini, Judy Greer, Lloyd Kaufman, and Jason Segel. For her role in the film, Fischer was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Emerging Actor Award. Her experience on the low-budget film (principal photography cost $1500, mostly for food) discouraged her from any future directorial aspirations, as she told a St. Louis arts and entertainment magazine:
The directing was exhausting and the writing was painful. It was very difficult to direct and star in a movie. We also had a very small crew so I did a lot of things a normal director doesn’t have to do, like make the props and serve lunch. I was simultaneously getting into character, going over my lines, set dressing the next shot, coaching an actor, and brainstorming with my D.P. I’m good at multitasking, but that was too much for me. I couldn’t enjoy any one part the way I would have liked. I think I’ll stick to acting.
LolliLove was a Troma Entertainment release.
Personal life
Fischer was born Regina Marie Fischer in Fort Wayne, Indiana[6], but was raised in St. Louis, Missouri, attending Nerinx Hall High School in suburban Webster Groves. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Truman State University.
Fischer married Hollywood filmmaker James Gunn in October 2000, the brother of Fischer's lifelong friend Sean Gunn.
In May 2007, while attending the NBC upfronts for her role in The Office, Fischer fell down a flight of stairs in a Manhattan bar and fractured her back in four places. She took twelve weeks to recover from the injury and was back on set as Pam, her role on The Office by the start of filming for the 2007 season.
Shortly thereafter, on September 5, 2007, Fischer and Gunn announced they were separating after nearly seven years of marriage.

AKA Stacie Joy Orrico
Born: March 3, 1986
Location: Seattle, Washington, United States
Genre(s) Pop, CCM, R&B
Occupation(s) Singer, songwriter, actress
Instrument(s) vocals, piano/keyboards
Stacie Joy Orrico is a Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning pop singer-lyricist and occasional actress.
Biography
Early life
Stacie Orrico was born in Seattle, Washington to Italian-American parents. But the family later moved to Denver, Colorado. Orrico is the middle child of five children: her siblings are Jesse, Rachel, Alicia and Joshua.
Music career
Orrico got her start in 1998 at the age of 12 by attending a Christian music festival Praise in the Rockies, held in her then-home state of Colorado. Orrico inadvertently entered a high-stakes talent competition, and won. A ForeFront Records executive was on hand and approached her for a record deal (she eventually did sign with them). In 2001, she toured with Destiny's Child.
Since then, she has released two albums. The first was Genuine (see 2000 in music), created at the young age of fourteen. It sold over 13,000 copies in the first week, the highest debut week sales ever for a female Christian artist. The album produced the hit single "Don't Look At Me" which topped Christian charts for ten consecutive weeks. The album had two #1 hits, as well as three more Top Ten singles. Genuine eventually sold 500,000 copies, giving the album Gold certification on word-of-mouth alone.
Her next effort, the more mainstream and titled Stacie Orrico, was released in 2003 and charted in the U.S. Billboard Top 200 (debuting at #67), Australian ARIAnet and the United Kingdom albums charts. The first maintream single from this album was "Stuck", which became a worldwide hit making it into the Top 5 of Top 10 of the majority of the world's charts. This was followed by the single "(There's Gotta Be) More To Life", which also charted and went top 20 in Australia and the UK (#12). "(There's Gotta Be) More To Life" failed to do as well as "Stuck" but still became a hit in many countries, especially in the US where it was a bigger hit than "Stuck". This was then followed by "I Promise" (top 30 in the UK), and the final mainstream single "I Could Be The One" (top 40 in the UK on June 2004). Both singles were given limited releases and limited promotion, and predictably they did not fare as well as the first two singles. The last three singles were only released to Christian radio in addition to "Strong Enough", which reached #1 as the CD's very first single. Stacie Orrico sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S., also good for Gold certification. The album also sold 600,000 in Japan and an estimated 3.4 million copies worldwide.
In 2004, Stacie's songs (There's Gotta be) More to Life and Stuck appeared on the Barbie Hit Mix.
Her new album Beautiful Awakening was set to be released worldwide on August 29, 2006, but for some reason the release of the album has been postponed in America. Though pretty much all of the songs from the new album leaked onto the internet, Beautiful Awakening was still released in Japan, the UK, and other countries. The album features production from Dallas Austin, Dwayne Bastiany, KayGee, and The Underdogs, and writing duties are performed by notable songwriters like She'kspere, Track & Field, Anthony Dent, Nate Butler and newcomer Novel and Orrico herself. The album sold 100,000 copies in Japan
The first single "I'm Not Missing You" went for radio adds on June 20, 2006, but due to little promotion was re-released in October. The song peaked at #19 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. The second single from the album, "So Simple," was released in Asia in October 2006 and was released in Europe on January 27, 2007.
Her music is looked at as an influential part of the now highly profitable Contemporary Christian Music industry, along with bands such as P.O.D.
At the beginning of 2007, American and Canadian fans eagerly anticipated the belated release of Orrico's third studio album "Beautiful Awakening", which was then later postponed again with a problem at Virgin Records. In March 2007, Orrico announced to fans that Virgin Records was merging with Capitol Records and she had left them and would not be releasing the album with that label.
After a long break from the public eye, Stacie Orrico headlined the 'QB Goes Live' concert on March 15 2008 in Cambodia, performing to an audience of over 50,000 at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium. Orrico is currently a free agent artist, and is not yet signed to a major label to release her upcoming R&B influenced album, expected to be released in 2009.
In June 2008, a new Stacie song called "Knock 'Em Out" was leaked on the Internet. It is believed to be a demo from her upcoming album. Moreover, the song "Do For You" by Jarvis Church also features Stacie Orrico on supporting vocals, released through EMI Canada.
Orrico also appeared at Singfest Festival in Singapore. Stacie also held a short Japan tour in July 2008 in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka.
As of 2009, it is believed that Stacie Orrico is taking a hiatus, and is also looking for a new record label to distribute a new album, expected to be released in late 2009/early 2010. It has been rumoured that Orrico will work with Toby Gad and Onree Gill on songs for her upcoming album.
Influences
When asked about her influences, she responded: "All of my influences are very soulful musicians - my favorite artist is Lauryn Hill, and I've always loved Whitney Houston and Ella Fitzgerald - and I wanted to explore that direction more."
Personal life
After the release of Stacie Orrico and the singles from that album, Orrico decided she did not want to pursue her career in music any further. Throughout her break, however, Orrico continued writing music which then, eventually, led her back to her career. She started recording again and developed a new album Beautiful Awakening.
In February 2007, Orrico left Virgin Records due to its merging with Capitol Records. Stacie Orrico then traveled to South Africa, as a volunteer with Cross-Cultural Solutions, to help children with AIDS. She has since returned from South Africa and currently resides in the United States.

When she was 16 she became a salsa dancer which helped her get the money to finish education. Also "The Miss Latin America competition" earned for her a much-needed $1,000 and the next thing she took a year off and went to Brazil. The things Kelley saw there prompted her to shun show business and come home to launch herself into a social science degree.
She studied Politics and International Relations at the University of New South Wales, and also worked as a volunteer with indigenous Australian youth in the inner-city suburb of Redfern before moving to Los Angeles and becoming an actress.
Career
Kelley began her acting career with the lead part in a WB pilot Mermaid, a spin-off of the hit television series Charmed starring Alyssa Milano, Rose McGowan and Holly Marie Combs. In 2006, she appeared in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift alongside Lucas Black and Bow Wow. She has also appeared in several commercials such as the one for "Schick Quattro". In 2007, she appeared in Loaded alongside Jesse Metcalfe.

Megan Leigh was an American exotic dancer and pornographic video star.
Leigh was born in Oakland, California, USA. She ran away from home for the first time at age 14 and by 16 was working at a Guam massage parlor. At 18, she began dancing nude at the Mitchell Brothers O'Farrell Theatre in San Francisco. Although the O'Farrell's management considered her little more than a passably pretty bleach blonde with little dancing talent, she became popular as stripper "Eve" and made a few thousand dollars per month in tips (which she reportedly spent mainly on drugs). In late 1986 she quit working at the O'Farrell Theatre and underwent a "makeover" (i.e. detoxification and cosmetic surgery), reemerging as Megan Leigh. In the summer of 1987, she starred in Secrets Behind the Green Door (see Behind the Green Door with Marilyn Chambers). She became known for her ability to deep throat her partners, getting a starring role in 1989's Deep Throat III.
Her body was discovered on June 16, 1990 at her home in Solano, California. She had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. According to former porn performer and message board contributor Brandy Alexandre, an autopsy discovered a lethal dose of Valium in Leigh's system. Porn historians, including Luke Ford, have said that Leigh had recently entered a lesbian relationship and had moved in with her girlfriend, when her family reportedly denounced her for her decision to enter into a same-sex relationship. Reports claim that she had become despondent by her family's rejection, and had been abusing drugs before her suicide. She left behind a note mentioning unresolvable personal problems, a body of work numbering 133 titles, and a $500,000 (USD) house that Leigh had purchased for her mother just one month before her suicide.

Biography
Early life
Conceived in Dallas, Texas – the source of her middle name – Howard was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Cheryl (née Alley), a writer, and Hollywood actor-director Ron Howard. Her paternal grandparents were actors Jean Speegle Howard and Rance Howard and her uncle is actor Clint Howard; her godfather is actor Henry Winkler, who co-starred on Happy Days (1974) with her father.
Howard and her younger sisters, twins Jocelyn and Paige, and their younger brother, Reed, were raised away from the world of showbusiness. Their parents didn't allow them access to television and instead encouraged reading, outside play, and hobbies. Nevertheless, all four Howard children can be seen as extras in some of their father's films, such as in 1999's EDtv.
She was reared in Greenwich, Connecticut, where she graduated from Greenwich Country Day School in 1996. When she was in ninth grade at Greenwich Country Day School, she performed as Miss Adelaide in the musical Guys and Dolls, and in a variety show with her own unique version of Leiber and Stoller's "I Am A Woman." She later attended Byram Hills High School in Armonk, New York, where she performed in a number of shows on their stage, and graduated in 1999. Howard also attended Stagedoor Manor, a performing arts camp in upstate New York, with one of her good friends, actress Natalie Portman. After graduating from high school, Howard studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for three years, during which time she also attended the Stella Adler Conservatory, The Experimental Wing, and International Theatre Wing in Amsterdam. During her schooling, Bryce took part in the concept recording of the Broadway-bound musical, A Tale of Two Cities. She graduated with her BFA in Drama in 2003. Howard is also an alumna of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's prestigious School at Steppenwolf in Chicago, and of The Actors Center in New York City.
Career
She appeared in several of her father's (Ron Howard) films as an extra before her feature film début came in director Alan Brown's 2004 drama, Book of Love. She also appeared in numerous productions on the New York stage, but her breakthrough role came in M. Night Shyamalan's The Village, which she was cast in without having to audition after Shyamalan saw her in a Broadway show. Following that, Howard was cast by Lars Von Trier to replace Nicole Kidman as Grace in Manderlay (2005). She collaborated again with Shyamalan in the 2006 release Lady in the Water, in which she plays Story, a type of water nymph called a "narf".
In 2006, she starred as Rosalind in Kenneth Branagh's film version of Shakespeare's As You Like It, opposite David Oyelowo as Orlando. The film played theatres in Europe, but went directly to cable in the United States. Ms. Howard was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance.
In May 2007, she appeared as Peter Parker's new love interest Gwen Stacy in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. She dyed her naturally red hair blonde for the role (while the naturally blonde Dunst's hair is dyed red for the role of Mary Jane Watson). Howard beat out Elisha Cuthbert and Sienna Miller for the part.
She will play the lead role in her upcoming film, The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, co-starring Chris Evans, Ellen Burstyn and David Strathairn. She landed the role after Lindsay Lohan dropped out.
She also plays the role of Kate Connor in the 2009 movie Terminator Salvation.
She wrote and directed a short film, Orchids, starring Alfred Molina (who incidentally, portrayed Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2), as part of Glamour magazine's "Reel Moments" series funded by Cartier and FilmAid International.
Personal life
On June 17, 2006, Howard married Seth Gabel, whom she had met at New York University and dated for five years. They currently live in Hollywood, California. Howard and Gabel welcomed their first child, a son named Theodore Norman Howard Gabel, nicknamed Theo, on February 16, 2007.
Until recently, she had been a devoted vegan since Joaquin Phoenix, her The Village co-star, showed her a documentary on animal cruelty called Earthlings, for which he had provided the narration at the request of Nation Earth. However, in August 2006, Howard announced that she had switched her diet from vegan to vegetarian in order to help her boost her amino acid levels in preparation for pregnancy.
She is close friends with Kirsten Dunst (her co-star in Spider-Man 3), Natalie Portman, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
