AKA Ashley Youmans
Born: April 30, 1985
Location: Beachwood, New Jersey, U.S.
Height 5 ft 6
Weight 118 lb
Ashley Rae Maika DiPietro better known by the stage name Ashley Alexandra Dupré, or as Kristen, the name she used as a call girl, is best known as the woman at the center of the Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal.
Early life and background
Dupré spent her early childhood in Beachwood, New Jersey, a borough near the Jersey Shore. Her father, William Youmans, owned a landscaping business and also worked as a salesman of surfing accessories. When her parents divorced, Dupré moved to Wall, New Jersey with her mother, Carolyn Capalbo, and her mother's new husband, Mike DiPietro, an oral surgeon. There she attended Old Mill (elementary) School and Wall High School until her sophomore year, when she moved to Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, to live with her father.
On her MySpace page, Dupré described leaving home at age 17 to escape a broken family and abuse, but her aunt, Barbara Youmans of Seaside Heights, denied that Dupré had a difficult childhood. "She never had a bad life when she was growing up. She had the best of everything: bicycles, clothing, O'Neill surf boards. ... She was always dressed to kill and got everything she wanted."
In 2004, at the age of 19, Dupré moved to New York City in pursuit of a music career, and worked as a waitress at a dance club called Viscaya in the Chelsea district of Manhattan. She also worked at the clubs Pink Elephant and Retox. Jason Itzler, who ran a New York escort service called NY Confidential from 2003 to 2005, met Dupré while she was working as a cocktail waitress at the Hotel Gansevoort in 2004. Dupré began working for him on the side, using the alias Victoria. NY Confidential was shut down and Itzler sent to prison by Spitzer's New York State Attorney General's office in 2005. Dupré subsequently worked for NY Confidential's former CFO, who had opened Velvet Traces in Brooklyn.
Acquaintances stated that Dupre had expensive tastes, including Cartier and Louis Vuitton consumer goods and trips to Saint-Tropez, France. The sources also stated that several of her tattoos, in Latin and Arabic, were mantras to help keep her clean—including "What does not destroy me makes me stronger," "Protect your own," and "Never give up." None admitted suspecting that she was a sex worker, believing her statements that the cash for her lifestyle came from her wealthy parents.
In 2006, Dupré changed her legal name from Youmans to her stepfather's name of DiPietro, stating that she regarded him as "the only father I have known." In the same year, she answered an ad by the escort agency Emperors Club VIP, and began working for the agency under the alias Kristen. By 2008, Dupré was living in a ninth-floor apartment in the Flatiron District of Manhattan. She maintains that she was concerned about her ability to pay her rent after the man she was living with left following her discovery that he had fathered two children.
Media attention
February 2008 assignation with Spitzer and aftermath
On February 13, 2008, Dupré travelled by Amtrak from New York's Pennsylvania Station to Washington, D.C., for an assignation at the Mayflower Hotel with New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. The arrangements had been made by phone between Spitzer and a booker at Emperors Club VIP, and were monitored by federal investigators who had initiated a wiretap after his bank had filed a suspicious activity report regarding money transfers by Spitzer to a front company operated by the escort service.
Caught on the FBI's wiretap was Dupré's response to the booker's mention of other escorts' difficulties with Spitzer. "I don't think he's difficult," said Dupré. "I mean it's just kind of like, whatever, I'm here for a purpose. I know what my purpose is. I am not a … moron, you know what I mean."
On March 6, federal authorities arrested four individuals involved with Emperors Club VIP, charging them under federal prostitution and money laundering laws. Initial news reports and court documents did not identify the agency's clients or call girls by name, referring to Spitzer as "Client 9" and to Dupré as "Kristen".
On March 10, The New York Times identified Spitzer as "Client 9." Two days later on March 12, the Times identified Dupré as "Kristen." Her mother, Carolyn Capalbo, told the newspaper that her daughter "was a young kid with typical teenage rebellion issues, but we are extremely close now.” Capalbo said she was "shell-shocked" when her daughter called to tell her she had been working as a paid companion.
Dupré's only public comment on the affair remained the brief interview with The New York Times which broke the story of "Kristen's" identity on March 12, in an article accompanied by photographs taken from Dupré's MySpace page. "I just don't want to be thought of as a monster," Dupré told the newspaper. "This has been a very difficult time. It's complicated." On the day the story broke, she posted a message to her MySpace page that said "Yeah, I did it"; it was later changed to read, "Thank you for your support, it means a lot to me." Dupré uploaded a second song to the Amie Street online music store around 2 a.m. on March 13. On March 14, New York City radio station Z100 played one Dupré song.
While Dupré remained in seclusion in the days after her role in the scandal became public, she became the subject of increasingly intense media coverage. The Village Voice called her "the most famous hooker in America", and the New York Post published an extensive photo shoot showing Dupré in provocative poses. By March 18, Dupré's profile on MySpace had received over 9 million page views. Dupré was reportedly offered US$1 million by Hustler magazine to pose nude, and received offers from Penthouse magazine and Vivid Entertainment.
It was not clear if Dupré would use her notoriety to gain modeling, interview, sit-com cameo, or reality television opportunities. According to Andy Greene, assistant editor at Rolling Stone magazine quoted in Advertising Age magazine, "If she was in the studio with a producer, her voice is not that much worse than Britney Spears'. ... It's not inconceivable that she could have a song as good as the stuff on the charts. ... It's a really tough road for her to have a music career because she's a prostitute. ... She had sex with Gov. Spitzer, and that's fascinating to a lot of people. But people ultimately want to read her book or see her interviewed by Oprah or Barbara Walters. They don't want to listen to her third or fourth song."
On March 19, the soft porn website Girls Gone Wild featured teasers of Dupré, shot in Miami Beach, Florida in 2003 before she had turned 18 Dupré presented the company the drivers license of a New Jersey woman named Amber Arpaio, claiming it was Dupré's own. Company founder Joe Francis—who served a year in jail for a conviction of child abuse and prostitution involving filming two underaged girls in Panama City, Florida, in 2003 who had represented themselves as adults—prepared to release a full DVD of Dupré footage from company archives. "All nude images of Ms. Dupre were taken in public places and contain no sexual contact," said Francis. "In Florida, where Ms. Dupre was filmed, the law allows even women under the age of 18 to be filmed nude with their consent."
Dupré's attorney, Don Buckwald, argued in an e-mail to Girls Gone Wild, "It was because she was underage that [Francis] sent her home on a Greyhound bus back to North Carolina. It would be outrageous at the very least to play the video of an underage female on the Internet."
On April 28, 2008, Dupré filed suit against Francis and two of his companies alleging their exploitation of Dupré's name and image, seeking US$10 million in punitive damages, but in July of that year she decided to drop the suit.
Legal proceedings
On March 15, Dupré was given immunity by the United States Attorney for The Southern District of New York for her role in the Spitzer scandal, in order to testify at court hearings related to the Emperors Club VIP prostitution ring.
In July 2008, a woman named Amber Arpaio filed a federal lawsuit against Dupré for defamation and invasion of privacy, claiming Dupré used her lost driver's license to appear on a "Girls Gone Wild" video. Arpaio also sued "Girls Gone Wild" founder Joseph Francis.
Music career
Dupré began singing professionally when Jerry Cooper, a musician she was living with, heard her singing the Aretha Franklin version of the song "Respect" in the shower. "She had this huge voice for such a little girl", Cooper told MTV, "and so I just kind of went in and said 'Hey, come upstairs when you're done with this, and let's work on some songs'". According to Dupré, she then toured and recorded with Cooper's band, networking with people in the music industry. In 2005, she formed a company named Pasche New York, an entertainment business intended to promote her music career.
In the summer of 2006, she made an appearance in a music video for the song "Pop Off", performed by rapper Mysterious.
Shortly after The New York Times published their profile of Dupré, her single "Move Ya Body" set a record for how fast it commanded the top price on the music-download site AmieStreet.com, reaching the site's maximum of US$0.98 per download in five hours. Another single, "What We Want", was played more than 3 million times on the Internet after the scandal erupted. While some speculated that she may have earned as much as US$300,000 - US$1.4 million from download sales of her singles on Amie Street, others estimated her earnings at as low as US$13,720. Dupré's music came to be featured in mash up YouTube videos, blending her tracks with those of established artists.
Dupré reportedly is now being represented by music manager Jerry Blair, who formerly worked for Mariah Carey, but record companies seem to be waiting to make a deal until they see if Dupré's fame will last longer than the current news cycle.

Biography
Early life
Cruz was born in San Sebastián de los Reyes, Madrid, Spain. Her parents are Eduardo Cruz, a retailer, and Encarna Sánchez, a hairdresser. As a toddler, she was already a compulsive performer, re-enacting TV commercials for her family's amusement, but she decided to focus her energies on dance. After studying classical ballet for nine years at Spain's National Conservatory, she continued her training under a series of prominent dancers. At 15, however, she followed another calling after she bested more than 300 other girls at a talent agency audition. She received three years of Spanish Ballet training with Ángela Garrido. She also had jazz dance training with Raúl Caballero and she studied at Cristina Rota (mother of Juan Diego Botto) school in Madrid. She speaks Spanish, English, French, and Italian fluently.
Career

Location: Vicksburg, Mississippi
Katherine Bailess was born and grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi and started entertaining as soon as she could step out on the stage. Like many artists, “Kat” didn’t limit her focus to one of her talents, but instead chose to cultivate many of her talents by studying and seeking a career in acting, dance and music. Kat truly epitomizes the meaning of a “triple threat.”
Kat began studying classical dance at age 4 and was dancing professionally by the time she was 11. Dance however, was not enough so Kat began voice lessons at age 14. During high school, Kat began acting as well. Naturally, Broadway beckoned, and what better place for an actor/dancer/singer? After attending many Broadway workshops in NYC and dancing with Ballet Mississippi throughout high school, Kat moved to NYC to attend Marymount Manhattan College on a Dance and Musical Theatre scholarship. While in school Kat continued to pursue her dream and went to study at the William Esper Studio for Acting. In New York, Kat danced in numerous theatrical productions, and began to act in film and television.
After graduation, Kat moved to Los Angeles and immediately began adding screen credits in both television and film to her bio such as Bring it on Again in 2002. Then, in 2002, Kat landed the role of the villainess in the 20th Century Fox Production of From Justin to Kelly, a motion picture-musical. This was the first time Kat acted, danced, and recorded a song for the soundtrack of a movie all at once. This experience made her realize she really loves to do all three, and if you don’t have to choose one, why do it? Since From Justin to Kelly, Kat had recurring roles on the popular WB series One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls. Kat also stars in the 2006 motion picture, Sea of Fear. In 2007 Kat appeared in the Fox television show The Loop, as well as a guest star in the CBS show NCIS. She got used to her dancing and acting skills again in the Caress Body Wash Webisode, which aired along side the Pussy Cat Dolls reality series on the CW. Currently Kat is on the TV screen playing Nurse Waring in the hilarious sitcom 'Sordid Lives' starring Olivia Newton John, Rue McClanahan, Leslie Jordan, Caroline Rhea and Kat's best friend Jason Dotley.
Never one to neglect her passion for music, Kat is getting back to her Mississippi roots by writing and performing original songs for her upcoming Country/Crossover CD. She has spent the last 7 months back and forth from LA to Nashville writing and recording her new songs. She credits her southern upbringing for her love of county music and counts Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Faith Hill, Randy Travis and George Straight as just a few of her inspirations. Her smoky voice is perfect for the sultry sounds of her modern country lyrics sprinkled with just a hint of nostalgia.

Biography
Early life
Kelly Brianne Clarkson was born in Fort Worth, Texas and grew up in the small town of Burleson, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth. She is the third and youngest child of Jeanne Rose, a first grade teacher, and Stephen Michael Clarkson, a former engineer. She is of part Greek ancestry. Clarkson's siblings include her brother Jason, and her sister Alyssa. When Clarkson was six years old, her parents split up after seventeen years of marriage. As a result, her brother went to live with her father, her sister went to live with an aunt, and Clarkson remained with her mother. Clarkson frequently moved around Texas while her mother managed several professions in order to support the family. The family settled in Burleson, where Clarkson's mother married her second husband, Jimmy Taylor.
Clarkson's family struggled financially, and music became her refuge after the first divorce. Clarkson attended Pauline G Hughes Middle School and Burleson High School, originally aiming to become a marine biologist. In seventh grade, a teacher (Mrs. Cynthia Glenn) overheard her singing in a hallway and asked her to audition for the school choir. Clarkson told the teacher that she had never received professional vocal training. In high school, Clarkson performed in musicals such as Annie Get Your Gun, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Brigadoon. Around this time, Clarkson decided to pursue singing. She sang at her high school talent show, after which a gentleman shared some inspiring words with her: "God has given you this gift. You've got to sing. You're destined to sing." Clarkson did continue to sing and soon started classical training, hoping that music would be her ticket to a college scholarship.
Clarkson worked numerous odd jobs during and after high school, such as mowing lawns, helping her contractor stepfather build porches, and working in a movie theater starting at age 16 and until she moved to Los Angeles. She also worked for Papa John's, Subway, Six Flags Over Texas, Starbucks, and sold vacuums door to door (her latter experience which she described with a well-intended pun: "It sucked."). She attended Crestmont Baptist Church in Burleson during her high school years.
Upon high school graduation, Clarkson was offered full scholarships to The University of Texas at Austin, University of North Texas, and Berklee, but decided against college because she had "already written so much music and wanted to try it on her own. And she figured you're never too old to go to college.
American Idol 2002
Main article: American Idol (season 1)
Clarkson won the first season of American Idol on September 4, 2002, earning 58% of the vote to 42% for Justin Guarini. Choking back tears, Clarkson performed the ballad "A Moment Like This", the song written for the winner of American Idol, which would subsequently appear on her debut album, Thankful. The song's music video was filmed at Pantages Theater in Hollywood, and incorporated short scenes of Clarkson performing on Idol. When released as a single in October 2002, it set a record on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart when it rose from number 52 to number one. This achievement was largely due to the impact from Idol as the CD single managed to sell 236,000 copies in its first week of sales in the U.S.; it spent five weeks at number one in Canada.
After Idol
Shortly following the completion of the first season of American Idol, Clarkson was accused of working with a record company. American Idol's rules stated that a contestant was not allowed to compete on the program if they had been linked to a record company. However, she was cleared of all allegations, as she had only had a contract in order to conduct demonstration work.
Soon after winning American Idol, Clarkson starred with Idol runner-up Justin Guarini in the movie From Justin to Kelly. The film was poorly received by critics and grossed only $5 million at the North American box office, less than half its reported budget. Clarkson has mentioned in interviews that she is shocked when people send her scripts after From Justin to Kelly, often citing contractual obligation as her sole reason for involvement in the film.
World Idol
In December 2003, a competition titled World Idol was held in London, UK, gathering the winners of the first seasons of Idol from across the globe. Clarkson was contractually obligated to participate, and placed second behind Norwegian Idol Kurt Nilsen. She performed Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman". Because she left immediately after the competition, she was chided by some in the media for what they saw as poor sportsmanship. Clarkson later explained to fans that she was suffering from an illness.
Post-Idol: career
2003–2004: Thankful
Following the successful release of "A Moment Like This", Clarkson's full-length debut album Thankful was released in North America by RCA Records on April 15, 2003. It debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200. Eventually, the album was certified double platinum by the RIAA for sales of two million copies on December 8, 2003 and platinum by the CRIA for sales of 100,000 copies on February 10, 2004. Reviews for the album were generally favorable. However, several critics noted that her early achievement was established due to her performances on American Idol. Allmusic critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine praised the album for its vocal ability: "throughout this record, [Clarkson] makes it seem effortless and charming. She can croon, she can belt out a song, she can be sexy and sassy while still being graceful and as wholesome as the girl next door". Rachel Kipp of JS Online criticized Clarkson for not having the same personality on Thankful that she had on American Idol, and wrote: "on American Idol, Clarkson showcased a great voice and an endearing, 'aw-shucks' personality. That personality is missing on Thankful, and there lies the album's greatest fault". Kipp blamed the producers behind the album for not allowing Clarkson to be herself.
"Miss Independent" became a success when released as the second single from Thankful. It reached the top ten of the U.S. and Canadian singles charts, and earned Clarkson a 2004 Grammy Award nomination for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance". When the single was released in the United Kingdom and Australia, it reached the top ten of the charts; however, Thankful received less attention. It peaked at number forty-one on the UK albums chart and at number 33 on the Australian albums chart. Further singles released outside North America would appear even less successful.
"Low", the third single from Thankful, reached number two in Canada, but it was unable to make the Top 40 of the U.S. chart. The final single, "The Trouble with Love Is", was not released in Canada, and it peaked at #101 on the U.S. Charts. Clarkson attributed the under performance of both releases to poor management and relieved her manager Simon Fuller, who she felt was not completely focused on her career. Clarkson also covered Danielle Brisebois' "Just Missed the Train" on the album.
As of 2009, Thankful has sold over 4 million copies worldwide.
2004–2006: Breakaway
Distancing herself from her American Idol image, Clarkson took more creative control with her second studio album Breakaway, and developed a more rock-oriented image. Breakaway was released by RCA Records on November 30, 2004. The album debuted within the U.S. top five and Canadian top ten, but sales were initially low in comparison to Thankful. However, the single releases from Breakaway proved very successful, and allowed it to become only the fourth album in history to stay in the Billboard 200 Top 20 for a consecutive year, as well as, being certified 6x platinum in the U.S. in late 2007 and 5x platinum in Canada in May, 2006. In Australia, the album reached number two and spent 52 weeks in the top 10 and was certified 6x Platinum; however, it experienced a delayed release in the UK. Clarkson co-wrote six of the songs with several songwriters, such as former Evanescence band members Ben Moody, David Hodges and producer Max Martin; the title track was co-written by punk-pop singer Avril Lavigne. Breakaway received different responses from critics; Rolling Stone commented that "on Kelly Clarkson's second album, [...] she embraces her rock side rather than the pop pageantry that put her on top of the American Idol heap". TeenInk noted the strength of her vocals on Breakaway, and praised the change from pop music to contemporary rock: "[Clarkson] retains the incredible power and beauty of her voice while switching to rock" Stylus magazine also enjoyed Clarkson's foray into rock music, however, she was called out because of her American Idol image, which reviewer Charles Merwin believed she had yet to lose. He praised the non-singles and wrote that they "maintain a quality high". Allmusic called the album "a nice, low-key relief".
Clarkson appeared on numerous television programs during the promotional tour for Breakaway, some of which included Saturday Night Live, The Oprah Winfrey Show and The View; she performed the first two singles "Breakaway" and "Since U Been Gone" on Saturday Night Live, which became her first major telecast appearance in order to support the album. "Breakaway", co-written by Avril Lavigne, served as the original song for The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004) and achieved considerable success across the world; it became Clarkson's third top-ten single in the U.S. and fourth top-ten single in Canada. It reached number ten in Australia, and number 22 in the UK. The song's contemporary pop-rock ambiance was one of the several tracks including a stronger rock-influenced sound that had not been heard on Thankful. The second single "Since U Been Gone", which was 'produced' by Max Martin, became the most successful release from the album. Its music video presented Clarkson singing to an underground audience with a full band; cut scenes of Clarkson destroying a former boyfriend's apartment were incorporated. The song's strong rock ambiance allowed it to reach number two in the U.S. and the top five across the world. It also earned Clarkson her first Grammy Award for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance"; she won a second award for "Best Pop Vocal Album".
The third and fourth single releases, "Behind These Hazel Eyes" and "Because of You", also followed with chart success. The video for "Behind These Hazel Eyes" broke the record for days at #1 for a female artist with 33 out of 50 days #1 on TRL. "Because Of You" became Clarkson's biggest worldwide hit, her first to reach the number one position on the world chart show, where it held for two consecutive weeks in 2006. The video for "Because of You" won the 2006 MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video, her second consecutive win in that category (The first being from "Since U Been Gone"). The fifth single from Breakaway, "Walk Away", was a top 15 hit in the U.S. and a top five hit in Canada. Breakaway spent 103 weeks on the Billboard 200. It fell out of the Billboard 200 in late November and was moved to Billboard's Pop Catalog. Breakaway was the tenth best selling album of 2006 in the US, adding nearly 2 million additional sales to the 2005 and 2004 sales. As a testament to Clarkson's continuing popularity, she was the most-played artist of 2006 on American radio, despite releasing only one single in the entire year, "Walk Away". On December 23, 2006, American Top 40 radio show host Ryan Seacrest announced during a countdown of 2006's most popular songs that Clarkson had had a song in the American Top 40 for 111 weeks, making her "the most successful female artist in AT40 history". She was also the most radio broadcasted artist of 2006 in Australia and "Because Of You" was the third most broadcast song of the same year, despite being released in 2005.
In the summer of 2006, Clarkson lent Ford Motor Co. a song titled "Go", written by Clarkson and Rhett Lawrence ("Miss Independent"). The song is being used in the company's new advertising campaign, "Bold Moves".
As of 2009, Breakaway has sold over 13 million copies worldwide.
2007–2008: My December
While on tour in Europe in 2006, Clarkson began writing and composing songs for her third album, My December. During the Addicted Tour, Clarkson debuted two of her songs: "Maybe" and "Yeah". Recording commenced on the album in the summer of 2006. The first single from My December was "Never Again", which made its radio debut on April 13, 2007. The song was released on iTunes on April 20, 2007, but was taken down and replaced with a notice that said that the song was not available until April 23, 2007. The single peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 at #8 and on the Pop 100 at #5. Following "Never Again", Clarkson released "Sober" as her next single from My December on June 6, 2007. The singles were promoted with appearances on Good Morning America and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Clarkson also returned to American Idol on the May 23, 2007 season 6 finale for the first time since its third season, performing "Never Again" and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry during a Beatles medley. The song "Chivas" is a hidden track which can be found after the song "Irvine." Clarkson wrote the song on bar napkins before going to a concert by Los Angeles based cover band Metal Skool where she was famously seen sharing a bottle of Chivas Regal with Ryan Key of Yellowcard in a popular YouTube video when she was brought on stage to sing with the band.
Clarkson parted with her management, The Firm, on June 11, 2007, after the controversy surrounding My December.Clarkson would then sign with Starstruck Entertainment, run by Narvel Blackstock - the husband of Reba McEntire - on July 2, 2007. On June 14, 2007, Live Nation announced that Clarkson's summer tour—her first nationwide arena tour—had been canceled due to underwhelming ticket sales, to be rescheduled after the release of the My December album at smaller, more intimate concert environments. Clarkson reinstated plans to tour the US during 2007, with a much smaller tour than the one she canceled in June. Clarkson began her My December Tour on October 10 in Verona, New York in venues significantly smaller than those previously booked.
My December was officially released in the U.S. on June 26, 2007. On the date of the album's release, Clarkson appeared on Good Morning America to promote her new album. Clarkson performed songs from this new album, including the single "Never Again". Despite the controversy surrounding My December, the album debuted at #2 in the U.S. with 291,000 albums sold. This is a slightly higher debut than Clarkson's previous album, Breakaway, which debuted at #3.
On July 7, 2007, Clarkson performed on the American leg of Live Earth. Her five-set performance list included: "Walk Away", "How I Feel", "Never Again", "Sober", and "Since U Been Gone".
Clarkson was the celebrity coach for Canadian Idol during its Top 5 week of the fifth season, aired on the CTV network on August 20, and she performed on the results show the next night. She was also awarded a Platinum Certification for shipments of more than 100,000 copies of My December in Canada. Clarkson also performed at the 2007 NFL opening kickoff where she sang the national anthem and performed songs from My December including "Never Again", "Maybe" and "Don't Waste Your Time". Clarkson also performed in the halftime show for the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets game on Thanksgiving Day.
My December was certified both gold (500,000 copies shipped) and platinum (1,000,000 copies shipped) on December 12, 2007, by the RIAA. It has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide.
On April 19, 2008, Clarkson participated in a Papal Youth Rally at the campus of St. Joseph's Seminary, Dunwoodie in Yonkers, New York performing a mini-concert for those in attendance. This was the Papal Visit of Pope Benedict XVI. She performed Schubert's "Ave Maria" for the Pope later in the day following the Pope's speech. Clarkson, raised Baptist, was said to be honored by the invitation and appreciative of the rosary given to her and her band by the Pope, who were invited over by the Pope immediately following the performance for the rosary honor.
2009–present: All I Ever Wanted

In 1995, Electra started appearing in various television programs. Then, in May of 1996 she was featured in a nude pictorial in Playboy magazine, the first of several. This exposure led to higher profile television appearances, including Baywatch (cast member from 1997-1998) and MTV's Singled Out. Carmen Electra became so popular among readers of Playboy that she was featured in the magazine three more times, with her second appearance in June 1997. Born: 19-Apr-1987
Birthplace: Nyagan, Siberia, Russia
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Tennis
Nationality: Russia
Executive summary: Winner of 3 Grand Slam titles
Father: Uri Sharapov (tennis coach)
Mother: Yelena Sharapova
Maria Sharapova is a Russian tennis player, who won the singles championship at Wimbledon in 2004, the US Open in 2006, and the Australian Open in 2008. Because she is blond and beautiful, Sharapova is often called "Anna Kournikova with a game", which is an important distinction for true tennis fans. Even before winning Wimbledon at 17, Sharapova had already won three Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and four International Tennis Federation (ITF) singles titles.
Sharapova's family lived near the oil refineries of Nyagan, but when she was two years old the family moved to Sechi, a city on the shores of the Black Sea, to escape fallout from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. At 4, the father of tennis champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov -- a beer buddy of Sharapova's father -- gave her a tennis racket, and she started bashing balls against walls. At age 6, she attended a tennis clinic in Moscow, and met and played a game with Martina Navratilova, who was impressed. Navratilova told Sharapova's father he had a prodigy on his hands, and the family began saving for a move to America.
Accompanied by her father, Sharapova moved to Florida when she was 7 (say some reports) or 9 (say others), to be coached by Nick Bollettieri, formerly coach to Andre Agassi, Monica Seles, Kournikova, and others. At the time, she spoke no English and owned only two tennis rackets. Her mother was unable to get a visa, and remained in Russia for two more years. At Bollettieri's tennis academy, Sharapova was usually pitted against older players, and shared a dormitory with older girls. She has often said she felt like an outsider, but "I learned to be a better fighter, and I never cried."
Sharapova has endorsement deals with Nike, NEC, and Prince, and has signed with IMG Models, the firm that employs Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum.

She played Beatrice Hastings - one of Andy Garcia's love interests- in the 2003 film 'Modigliani'. And starred in the film 'House of Nine' with Dennis Hopper and Kelly Brook in 2004.
In 2005, she played the lead role of Susy Henderson, in the Bill Kenwright produced play, Wait Until Dark. The character of Susy, who is blind, is commonly thought of as being the most exhausting role in theatre.
In 2006 she played John Thompson's wife Tessa in the BBC's New Street Law. And in November and December 2007 she appeared in Coronation Street, as the ex-wife of Tony Gordon (played by Gray O'Brien). Early in 2008 she parodied herself as the actress "Suzie Amy" in the TV comedy-drama Moving Wallpaper, and played Angela Cole in Wallpaper's sister show, the soap opera Echo Beach. She also was a judge with Dancing On Ice: The Live Tour at the Sheffield, Hallam FM Arena. Amy was reported in 2008 to be working in pre-production of Cowboys for Christ, Robin Hardy's reimagining of his 1973 The Wicker Man.

She fought on the February 10, 2007, Showtime EliteXC card, defeating Julie Kedzie via unanimous decision in what was called "the fight of the night".
Her scheduled bout against Jan Finney at the EliteXC/K-1 Dynamite!! USA event on June 2, 2007 was canceled due to illness. The Fight Network and other organizations reported that she was rushed to the hospital via ambulance due to dehydration while attending a World Extreme Cagefighting event as a spectator.
Carano fought on the September 15, 2007, Showtime EliteXC card, where she defeated Tonya Evinger via rear naked choke for her first career win by submission.
Carano defeated former Hook N Shoot champion Kaitlin Young on EliteXC: Primetime on May 31, 2008. A day before the fight, Carano failed to make weight for her fight (140 pounds (63.5 kg)) after weighing in at 144.5 (65.5 kg). Although most MMA organizations set weight classes at 135 (Bantamweight (MMA)) and 145 (Featherweight (MMA)) pounds (61.2 and 65.8 kg, respectively), EliteXC opted to create a women's weight class at 140 pounds. Carano agreed to forfeit 12.5% of her "show" purse to Young, and the fight remained on the card.
Carano's latest fight was against Kelly Kobold on October 4, 2008 at EliteXC: Heat at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida which was broadcast on CBS.
Leading up to her fight against Kobold, there was much controversy over whether or not Gina would make weight for this fight, having fought only once in the past year and not making weight at that time. Gina assured critics that she would be able to make weight since she had hired a nutritionist to help with her dieting. At the weigh-in for the Kobold fight on October 3, 2008, "Gina Carano weighed in at 142.75 pounds on her first attempt. After removing her sports bra, a towel-covered Carano weighed in a second time at 142.5 pounds. On her third attempt without any clothes on, Carano weighed 141 pounds., successfully making weight.
Early on, Kobold was intent on pressing Carano in the clinch, while working for the takedown throughout the fight. Kobold managed a takedown in the second round, but the round ended before she could take meaningful advantage of it. Carano worked her opportunities by hitting Kobold at every turn whenever the fighters separated, while also opening a huge gash on the inside of her opponent’s eyebrow in the first round. At the end of the third round, Carano looked to finish the fight as she unloaded a head kick that landed flush on Kobold’s chin, but Kobold was not knocked out and the bout came to a close.
Carano won by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) and remains undefeated. After she won the fight, she dedicated her fight to her grandfather.
A fight against Cristiane Santos was in the works for February 2009, although after EliteXC folded the fight become null. The possibility of the fight still happening in the future was dependent on which promotion the two women signed with next.
After Strikeforce purchased the assets of ProElite. Carano, along with other fighters within the defunct promotion, became contractually linked with Strikeforce, after many months of a stalemate regarding their free agent status.
Outside martial arts
Carano starred in the cult film Ring Girls Based on true events, Ring Girls is a fast-paced story about five American women from Las Vegas who take on the ultimate challenge of fighting the best female Muay Thai fighters in the world.

AKA Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson
Born: 15-Apr-1990
Birthplace: Paris, France
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Occupation: Actor
Nationality: England
Executive summary: Hermione in Harry Potter
Father: Chris Watson (lawyer, b. 1959)
Mother: Jacqueline Watson (lawyer, b. 1959)
Brother: Alex Watson (b. 1993)
Boyfriend: Jay Barrymore (financier, dating 2008)
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is a French-born British actress who rose to prominence playing Hermione Granger, one of three starring roles in the Harry Potter film series. Watson was cast as Hermione at the age of nine, having acted only in school plays. From 2001 to 2007, she starred in five Harry Potter film instalments alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint. She will return for the final two instalments: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, due to be released in 2009, and the two parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Watson's work in the Harry Potter series has earned her several awards and more than £10 million.
In 2007, Watson announced her involvement in two non-Harry Potter productions: the made-for-television adaptation of the novel Ballet Shoes and an animated film, The Tale of Despereaux. Ballet Shoes was broadcast on December 26, 2007 to an audience of 5.2 million and The Tale of Despereaux, based on the book by Kate DiCamillo, was released in 2008.
Early life
Emma Watson was born in Paris, France, daughter of Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, English lawyers. Watson has one French grandmother, and lived in Paris until the age of five, before she moved with her mother and younger brother, Alex, to Oxfordshire, England, following her parents' divorce.
From the age of six, Watson expressed a desire to become an actress. By 10, she had starred in school plays, including Arthur: The Young Years and The Happy Prince. She had never acted professionally before the Harry Potter series. "I had no idea of the scale of the film series", she said in a 2007 interview with Parade magazine; "if I had I would have been completely overwhelmed".
Career
Harry Potter
In 1999, casting began for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (known as Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the United States), the film adaptation of British author J. K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Of importance to the casting directors were the lead role of Harry Potter and the two supporting roles of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, Harry's two friends. Casting agents found Watson through her Oxford theatre teacher, and producers were impressed by her confidence. After eight auditions, producer David Heyman told Watson and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast, respectively, as Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Rowling supported Watson from her first screen test.
Watson's debut as Hermione came in 2001 with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The film broke records for opening-day sales and opening weekend takings and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Critics praised the performances of the three leads, often singling out Watson for particular acclaim. The Daily Telegraph called her performance "admirable", and IGN said she "stole the show". Watson was nominated for five awards for her performance in Philosopher's Stone, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress.
A year later, Watson again starred as Hermione in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second installment of the series. Though the film received mixed reviews because of its pace and direction, critics were positive about the performances. The Los Angeles Times said Watson and her peers had matured between films, while The Times criticised director Chris Columbus for "under-employing" Watson's hugely popular character. Watson received an Otto Award from the German magazine Die Welt for her performance. In 2004, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was released. Watson was appreciative of the more assertive role Hermione played, calling her character "charismatic" and "a fantastic role to play". Although critics turned away from Radcliffe's acting talent, labelling him wooden, Watson continued to be praised; The New York Times lauded her performance, saying "Luckily Mr. Radcliffe's blandness is offset by Ms. Watson's spiky impatience. Harry may show off his expanding wizardly skills ... but Hermione ... earns the loudest applause with a decidedly unmagical punch to Draco Malfoy's deserving nose". Although Prisoner of Azkaban remains the lowest-grossing Harry Potter film as of January 2008, Watson's personal performance won her two Otto Awards and the Child Performance of the Year award from Total Film.
With Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), both Watson and the Harry Potter film series reached new milestones. The film set records for a Harry Potter opening weekend, a non-May opening weekend in the US, and an opening weekend in the UK. Critics praised the increasing maturity of Watson and her teenage co-stars; the New York Times called her performance "touchingly earnest". For Watson, much of the humour of the film sprang from the tension among the three lead characters as they matured. She said, "I loved all the arguing ... I think it's much more realistic that they would argue and that there would be problems." Nominated for three awards for Goblet of Fire, Watson won a bronze Otto Award. Later that year, Watson became the youngest person to appear on the cover of Teen Vogue. 2006 found Watson playing Hermione in The Queen's Handbag, a special mini-episode of Harry Potter in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II's 80th birthday.
The fifth film in the Harry Potter franchise, 2007's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, was a financial success, setting a record worldwide, opening-weekend gross of $332.7 million. Watson won the inaugural National Movie Award for Best Female Performance. As the fame of the actress and the series continued, Watson and fellow Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint left imprints of their hands, feet, and wands in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood on 9 July 2007.
Work outside Harry Potter
Watson's first non-Harry Potter role was in the 2007 TV film Ballet Shoes, as Pauline Fossil. She said of the project, "I was all set to go back to school after finishing Harry Potter [and the Order of the Phoenix] but couldn't resist Ballet Shoes. I really loved it". A BBC adaptation of Noel Streatfeild's novel of the same name, the film stars Watson as aspiring actress Pauline Fossil, the eldest of three sisters around whom the story revolves. Director Sandra Goldbacher commented, "Emma was perfect for Pauline ... She has a piercing, delicate aura that makes you want to gaze and gaze at her". Ballet Shoes was broadcast on Boxing Day in the United Kingdom, to an estimated audience of 5.2 million (22 percent of the viewing total). The film received generally poor critical reviews, and The Times described it as "progress[ing] with little emotional investment, or magic, or dramatic momentum". However, the performances of its cast were generally praised; The Daily Telegraph wrote the film "was certainly well done, not least because it confirmed how good child actors are these days".
Watson starred in the animated film The Tale of Despereaux, released in December 2008. She voiced the character of Princess Pea in the film, a children's comedy which also starred Matthew Broderick and Tracey Ullman.
Future plans
Although Radcliffe and Grint had confirmed their commitment to acting, Watson had expressed uncertainty about her future. Speaking to Newsweek in 2006, she said, "Daniel and Rupert seem so sure ... I love to perform, but there are so many other things I love doing."
However, despite rumours that she had refused the final two Harry Potter installments, Watson signed for the sixth and seventh films in March 2007. She explained the decision was tough as filming would continue to dominate her life for three to four years, but in the end "the pluses outweighed the minuses". Filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth film, began in late 2007 and has since finished.
Personal life
Watson's extended family has grown as her divorced parents both have children by new partners. Her father has identical twin girls, Nina and Lucy, and a four-year old son, Toby. Her mother's partner has two sons (Emma's stepbrothers), who "regularly stay with her". Watson's full brother, Alexander, has appeared as an extra in two Harry Potter films, and her half-sisters were cast as the young Pauline Fossil in the BBC's Ballet Shoes adaptation.
After moving to Oxford with her mother and brother, Watson attended The Dragon School, an independent preparatory school, until June 2003 and then moved to Headington School, an independent school for girls, also in Oxford. While on film sets, Watson and her peers were tutored for up to five hours a day; despite the focus on filming she maintained high academic standards. In June 2006, Watson took GCSE examinations in 10 subjects, achieving eight A* and two A grades; she was a target of friendly ridicule on the Harry Potter set because of her straight-A exam results. She received A grades in her 2008 A level examinations in English Literature, Geography and Art, and in her 2007 AS (advanced subsidiary) level in History of Art. Watson is currently taking a gap year, with filming of the two part adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows starting in February 2009, after which she "definitely wants to go to university" to study English. Though rumoured to have secured a place to read English at Trinity College, Cambridge, she’s "still deciding whether to take up a university place at Oxbridge or an Ivy League college."
Watson's work in the Harry Potter series has brought her more than £10 million, and she has acknowledged she will never have to work for money. However, she has declined to quit school to become a full-time actress, saying "People can’t understand why I don’t want to ... but school life keeps me in touch with my friends. It keeps me in touch with reality". She has been positive about working as a child actress, saying her parents and colleagues helped make her experience happy. Watson enjoys a close friendship with her fellow Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, describing them as a "unique support system" for the stresses of film work.
Watson lists her interests as dancing, singing, field hockey, tennis, art, fly fishing, and donates to WTT (Wild Trout Trust). She describes herself as "a bit of a feminist", and admires fellow actors Johnny Depp and Julia Roberts.
As she has grown older, Watson has become something of a budding fashion devotee. She has said she sees fashion as something very similar to art, which she studied in school. In September 2008, she told a blogger, "I've been focusing on art a lot, and fashion's a great extension of that."

Other high-calibre players whom Dokiæ has defeated include Monica Seles, Justine Henin, Amélie Mauresmo, Mary Pierce, and Jennifer Capriati.
Early life
Jelena was born in Osijek, Croatia, Yugoslavia, to a Serbian family, father, Damir, and a mother, Ljiljana. She has a younger brother, Savo who is 8 years her junior. At the start of the war in Croatia in June 1991, where they lived in Osijek, her family decided to leave due to the impending war. They settled in Sombor, Serbia, and later, in 1994, emigrated to Australia. From 1994, they lived in Fairfield, a suburb of Sydney, where she attended Fairfield High School.
Tennis career
Junior career
Dokiæ was an accomplished junior player. In 1998, she won the US Open girls singles title and the French Open doubles with Kim Clijsters, ending the season ranked World No. 1 in the International Tennis Federation junior singles rankings and World No. 7 in doubles.
1999
Dokiæ started the year by teaming up with Mark Philippoussis to win the Hopman Cup title. To date, it is Australia's lone victory at the event. She then received a wildcard into the Australian Open, winning two rounds before losing 6–1, 6–2 to world No. 1 Martina Hingis. At Wimbledon, Dokiæ made her professional breakthrough. As a qualifier, she caused one of the biggest upsets in tennis history, defeating World No. 1 Hingis 6–2, 6–0, in the first round. Ranked World No. 129 at the time, she was the lowest-ranked player to have defeated the top seed in a Grand Slam tournament during the open era. She also defeated ninth-seeded Mary Pierce in straight sets before losing 6–3, 1–6, 6–3 to Alexandra Stevenson in the quarterfinals. Dokiæ also reached her first WTA doubles final with Amanda Coetzer in Tokyo. During 1999, Dokiæ jumped 298 spots, finishing the year at World No. 43.
2000
Dokiæ was defeated in the first round of the Australian Open by Rita Kuti Kis of Hungary, 6–1, 2–6, 6–3. After the match, Dokiæ said, "I lost to a player who has never been a player and, I guess, probably never will be." This assessment of her opponent resulted in many critical remarks about Dokiæ from the media and the tennis world.
During the spring clay court season, Dokiæ reached the quarterfinals of the Tier I events in Hilton Head, South Carolina and Rome (upsetting Venus Williams en route), as well as earning Fed Cup victories over Kim Clijsters, Anna Kournikova, and Sandrine Testud respectively. However, Dokiæ lost in the second round at the French Open.
Her successes at Wimbledon continued. She lost in the semifinals to Lindsay Davenport 6–4, 6–2. Jelena reached the fourth round of the US Open, where she lost to Serena Williams 7–6(7), 6–0 after holding two set points in the first set tiebreaker. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, representing Australia, she lost to Monica Seles in the bronze medal match 6–1, 6–4. In doubles, she teamed with Rennae Stubbs, but they lost in the second round. Dokiæ finished the year at World No. 26.
2001
Beginning with the Australian Open, she began playing for Yugoslavia. Her father, Damir, claimed irregularities in the draw after her first-round loss to Lindsay Davenport and he was banned from the tournament due to abusive behavior. Damir later said "I think the draw is fixed just for her" After the Australian Open, her family moved to the United States.
In May, she won her first singles title in the Rome Masters, defeating Amélie Mauresmo in the final, 7–6(3), 6–1. Later that year in doubles, she teamed with Conchita Martínez to reach the final of the French Open, where they were defeated by Virginia Ruano Pascual and Paola Suárez in straights sets.
Later in the year, she reached five finals, winning two titles, in Tokyo (defeating former World No. 1 Arantxa Sánchez Vicario), and the Kremlin Cup (defeating Elena Dementieva). She also won her second title in doubles in Linz, with Nadia Petrova. She also qualified for the WTA Tour Championships in singles, reaching the quarterfinals. She finished the year at World No. 8.
2002
Dokiæ reached the final of the Open Gaz de France, where she was forced to hand a walkover to Venus Williams, after her first victory over Monica Seles a day earlier, due to a right thigh strain suffered in her win. In April, she won her fourth singles title in Sarasota, Florida defeating Tatiana Panova 6–2, 6–2 in the final. At the Hamburg event, Dokiæ collected a 7–6(3), 7–6(3) win over Justine Henin, before having to retire in the semifinals. Dokiæ was unable to defend her Rome Masters title, losing to eleventh-seeded Anastasia Myskina in the third round. In Strasbourg, she reached her fifth final, losing to Silvia Farina Elia, 6–4, 3–6, 6–3. At the French Open, she was defeated by top-seeded Jennifer Capriati in the quarterfinals, 6–4, 4–6, 6–1. Dokiæ then won her fifth career singles title in Birmingham, defeating Myskina in the final 6–2, 6–3. She then lost in the fourth round at Wimbledon to Daniela Hantuchová 6–4, 7–5.
After Wimbledon, Dokiæ reached the final of the Acura Classic in San Diego, scoring her first win over Capriati in a three set match. In the final, however, she was defeated by Venus Williams 6-2, 6-2. She also reached the semifinals of Los Angeles, losing to Chanda Rubin, and Montreal, grasping a 6–4, 6–3 victory over Martina Hingis before retiring hurt against Capriati. Despite a 6–4, 6–2 loss to Elena Bovina in the second round of the US Open, Dokiæ reached her career-high singles ranking of World No. 4.
Dokiæ then reached the semifinals in Bahia and Tokyo. Dokiæ again qualified for the WTA Tour Championships, losing in the quarterfinals to Serena Williams 7–6(1), 6–0. She finished the year ranked World No. 9 in singles.
In doubles, Dokiæ won titles in Sarasota (with Elena Likhovtseva), Los Angeles (with Kim Clijsters), and Linz (with Nadia Petrova), as well as reaching the finals of Moscow and Zürich (both with Petrova). This success resulted in Jelena reaching her career high doubles ranking of World No. 10.
2003
In 2003, she parted ways with her coach/father and hired Borna Bikiæ from Croatia to be her trainer. Her tennis suffered and her slide down the standings began.
A string of first or second round losses commenced as she clearly suffered from a severe loss of confidence. No longer a part of her life physically, her father continued to be a presence as he publicly criticised her choices. At one stage, he termed her boyfriend Enrique Bernoldi, a former Formula One driver with whom she lived at the time, quoted: "an idiot".
She played matches at 30 events, reaching one final, one semifinal, and seven quarterfinals. At Wimbledon she narrowly lost in the third round 6-4, 6-4 to the new teenage tennis star, a 16 year old Maria Sharapova. However at Zürich, she beat the then World No. 1 player, Kim Clijsters, later to lose to Justine Henin in the final. She also reached a final in doubles, in Rome with Nadia Petrova.
2004–2005
In mid-2004, Dokiæ returned to her family in Serbia, trying to put her life back in order and regain confidence. However, the attempt was unsuccessful, and in November 2005, after a turbulent period of 4–5 months during which she canceled all her tennis commitments and not even her family knew her whereabouts, she returned to Australia proclaiming, "I want to play for Australia again."
2006
Representing Australia for the first time in 5 years, Dokiæ received a wild card into the ASB Classic in Auckland. However, she lost her first round match to Julia Schruff, 5–7, 7–6(3), 6–1, hitting 51 unforced errors and 28 double faults. Dokiæ then earned a wildcard berth at the Australian Open after winning the wildcard playoff. She held a match point on her opponent Virginie Razzano's serve and hit what she thought was a forehand winner, only to have the umpire overrule the ball out. She went on to lose the match, 3–6, 7–6(6), 6–1, hitting over 70 unforced errors. Later in the year, Dokiæ played in the qualifying tournament for Wimbledon, where she received a wildcard. However, she suffered a 4–6, 7–6(4), 6–2 loss to Alexandra Stevenson. Under the guidance of new coach Nikola Piliæ, after over three months away from the tour due to injury, Dokiæ qualified for a $10,000 tournament and reached the semifinals of the main draw before losing to Astrid Besser 3–6, 6–3, 7–6(5). In late November 2006, Dokiæ denied reports from her father, Damir, that she had been kidnapped by her boyfriend, Tin Bikiæ. In her interview, she said she would not play in the 2007 Australian Open because she was not ready and her aim was to get back into the top 30. Shortly after, Dokiæ left the Nikola Piliæ tennis academy. She was due to sign a contract to be in the academy for a year, but she instead returned to Borna Bikiæ, her coach. Dokiæ said she was not satisfied with the contract Piliæ's Academy offered her.
2007
After withdrawing from several ITF events in the early months of 2007, Dokiæ lost in the early rounds of two $10,000 events in Rome. Dokiæ then continued to withdraw from events, allegedly due to a wrist injury which had been troubling her for some time. Back in Australia on October 17, Dokiæ released a statement through Tennis Australia saying that she would be using their facilities in an attempt to make a successful comeback. She said that she had not felt "within herself" to play during 2007 season but was now ready to put in the hard work necessary to get back to the top. She cited Mary Pierce, Jennifer Capriati, and Andre Agassi as inspirational figures for her to follow towards her goal of reaching the highest echelons of tennis once more. Dokiæ's long awaited return to tennis came during the Australian Open wildcard playoff, where she was hoping to earn a wildcard into the first Grand Slam tournament of 2008. Dokiæ emerged from the round robin stage with a 3–0 record before retiring in her quarterfinal match while trailing 6–3, 3–1 due to a thigh strain.
2008
Dokiæ received a wildcard for the qualifications of the Moorilla Hobart International, where she won four matches to reach the second round of the main draw, where she retired in her match against Flavia Pennetta due to an ankle injury. Dokiæ received a qualifying wildcard into the Australian Open, where she lost in the second round.
After a three month layoff, Dokiæ finally returned to action at the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem tournament in Fes where she qualified but lost in the first round against Greta Arn.
She then entered the following week in a $25,000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament in Florence, Italy, where she successfully qualified and proceeded to win the tournament, saving two match points against Mirjana Luèiæ in the quarterfinals and defeating seventh-seeded Lucie Hradecká in the final 6–1, 6–3. A week later, Dokiæ continued her winning streak by capturing the $25,000 ITF tournament in Caserta, Italy.
She was then offered a wildcard to the Internationaux de Strasbourg, where she lost in the first round to Swiss Timea Bacsinszky.
In July, she won her third $25,000 ITF in Darmstadt after winning the final 6–0, 6–0.
After a period with less successful results, Dokiæ took a temporary break and withdrew from all ITF tournaments during September and early October. She returned mid-October after being awarded a wildcard for qualifying into the Tier II Generali Ladies Linz tournament. There, she won her first round match against Petra Martiæ before losing to World No. 63 Jill Craybas in the second round.
In December, Dokic again played the Australian Open Wildcard Playoff event, where she emerged from the round-robin stage with a 2-1 record, subsequently winning through to the final playoff. In this playoff, Jelena played a tough match against Monika Wejnert, coming out a victor 6-7(3) 7-5 6-3 and earning a wildcard into the 2009 Australian Open . After the match, Dokic said:
"Some players just don't have it mentally to go through all that hard work, which I find is not a problem with me."
—Jelena Dokic,
During the Playoffs, Dokic stated in a press-conference that she has ambitions to play Fed Cup for Australia in 2009. Subsequent to the Playoffs, Dokic was awarded a main draw wildcard entry into the inaugural, 2009 Brisbane International event.
2009
Dokic has stated that she sees 2009 as her last opportunity to make a comeback to professional tennis. "I don't think I'm running out of chances, [but] I think if I do come back it will be this year, 2009, I don't think I'll push it any further than that if I don't … The time is not the problem, it's just the feeling whether I can do it, and it's a lot of hard work to put into it. Coming from zero, it's not easy to do."
Dokic was knocked out of the Brisbane International in the first round by Amelie Mauresmo in straight sets. Dokic was up 5–3 in the first set before Mauresmo came back to win the tiebreak 11–9. In the second set, Dokic was down 3–5 but rallied to lead 6–5 before Mauresmo won the set in a tiebreak 7–5.
Dokic then received a qualification wildcard into the Moorilla Hobart International tournament but withdrew before her first match because of an achilles tendon injury.
Dokic won her first round match at the Australian Open against Tamira Paszek of Austria 6–2, 3–6, 6–4. It was her first Grand Slam match win since 2003. She then defeated World No. 17 Anna Chakvetadze in the second round 6–4, 6–7, 6–3 and eleventh-seeded Caroline Wozniacki in the third round 3–6, 6–1, 6–2. This was the first time she had reached the fourth round of the Australian Open. Dokic then advanced to the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time since 2002 after defeating 29th-seeded Alisa Kleybanova 7–5, 5–7, 8–6. Dokic's run came to an end when she was defeated by Dinara Safina in the quarterfinals 6–4, 4–6, 6–4.
In an interview after her first round win, she stated that she still has no contact with her father, but is building relationships again with her mother and younger brother. She states that she has been dating her boyfriend Tin Bikiæ for five years.

Early life
Danes was born in Manhattan, New York City. Her mother, Carla, is a day-care provider, painter, and textile designer who would later serve as her daughter's manager, and her father, Christopher Danes, is a computer consultant and former architectural photographer. Danes has described her background as being "as WASPy as you can get"; her paternal grandfather, Gibson A. Danes, was the dean of the art and architecture school at Yale University. She has an older brother, Asa, who graduated from Oberlin College and works as a litigation attorney for the law firm of Paul Hastings.
Danes attended the Dalton School in New York City, the New York City Lab School for Collaborative Studies, the Professional Performing Arts School, and the Lycée Français de Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California. In 1998, Danes went to Yale University (her father's alma mater). Oliver Stone wrote her letter of recommendation to Yale. After studying for two years as a psychology major, she dropped out of Yale to focus on her film career.
Career
In 1994, Danes starred as Angela Chase in the television drama series My So-Called Life, for which she won a Golden Globe Award and received an Emmy nomination. She played Elizabeth (Beth) March in the 1994 movie adaptation of Little Women. She also appeared as Holly Hunter's daughter in Home for the Holidays, which was directed by Jodie Foster. She portrayed Juliet Capulet in Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet, co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo Montague. Later that year, she turned down the lead role of Rose DeWitt Bukater in Titanic, also starring Leonardo Dicaprio because she felt exhausted after working on Romeo + Juliet. In 1999, she made her first appearance in an animated feature with the English version of Princess Mononoke, and took the lead role in Brokedown Palace, alongside Kate Beckinsale and Bill Pullman.
In 2002, Danes starred opposite Susan Sarandon, Kieran Culkin, and Bill Pullman again, in Igby Goes Down. Personal life
Danes had her first onscreen kiss in an episode of My So-Called Life before she had one in real life. After meeting at her birthday party, she and Australian singer Ben Lee dated for almost six years, their relationship ending in 2003. She has dated Andrew Dorff, actor Stephen Dorff's younger brother, and Matt Damon. Beginning in 2004, she dated her Stage Beauty and Princess Mononoke co-star Billy Crudup, which generated negative publicity due to rumors that their relationship caused the end of Crudup's relationship to then-pregnant Mary-Louise Parker. Both denied that they were involved prior to the end of Crudup's relationship with Parker. Danes's relationship with Crudup ended in December 2006, amid rumors of an affair by Danes with Hugh Dancy, her co-star in Evening. Danes confirmed on the June 27, 2007 episode of Late Show with David Letterman that she is dating Dancy. The couple is now engaged to be married.
Controversy
In 1998, just after the filming of Brokedown Palace in Manila, she was quoted in Vogue as saying that Manila was a "ghastly and weird city." She further remarked in Premiere that the city "smelled of cockroaches, with rats all over and that there is no sewage system and the people do not have anything — no arms, no legs, no eyes." Kim Atienza, son of then-Mayor of Manila, Lito Atienza, responded to the comments by saying that, "those are irresponsible, bigoted and sweeping statements that we cannot accept." Her films were subsequently banned from being screened in the Philippines. Joseph Estrada, then-President of the Philippines, condemned her publicly, and she was declared persona non grata. Shortly after the incident, Danes issued an apology in Entertainment Weekly to the City of Manila.

Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Singer
Nationality: England
Executive summary: Mind, Body & Soul

Joss Stone (born Jocelyn Eve Stoker on April 11th 1987) is an English soul and R&B singer-songwriter and actress. Stone emerged to fame in late 2003 with her multi-platinum debut album, The Soul Sessions, which made the 2004 Mercury Prize shortlist. Her second album, the equally multi-platinum Mind, Body & Soul, topped the UK Albums Chart for one week and spawned the top ten hit "You Had Me", Stone's most successful single on the UK Singles Chart to date. Both album and single each received one nomination at the 2005 Grammy Awards, while Stone herself was nominated for Best New Artist. Stone's latest album, Introducing Joss Stone, released in March 2007, has achieved gold status by the RIAA.
Throughout her career, Stone has sold over ten million albums worldwide, and has won two BRIT Awards and one Grammy Award. She also made her acting debut in late 2006 with the fantasy adventure film Eragon, as the witch Angela, and she will make her television debut portraying Anne of Cleves in the Showtime series The Tudors in 2009.
Early life
Stone was born at Buckland Hospital in Dover, Kent, and spent her teenage years in Ashill, a small village in Devon. She is the third of four children born to Richard and Wendy Stoker. Her father owns a fruit and nut import/export business; her mother, who used to manage holiday cottages, worked as Stone's manager until October 2004. Stone made her first public appearance at the Uffculme Comprehensive School—which she attended—in Uffculme, Devon, with a cover of Jackie Wilson's 1957 song "Reet Petite". Because of her dyslexia, Stone left school at age sixteen with only three GCSE qualifications. "It wasn't that I was stupid. I'm just a little bit dyslexic and I wasn't very academic. I'm more artistic", she says.
Stone grew up listening to a wide variety of music including 1960s and 1970s American R&B and soul music performed by such artists as Dusty Springfield and Aretha Franklin; as a result, she developed a soulful style of singing like her idols. "My first CD that I owned was Aretha Franklin: Greatest Hits. And I saw the advert on TV and it was just like little clips of her songs. I had no idea who she was—I was only like 10 so. I said, 'Oh yeah, that looks really good', so I wrote it down and I said to my mum, 'Can I have that for Christmas?' So she told my friend Dennis, who always gets me good music anyway, and he got that for me. So that was one of my first albums that I loved." She would later tell MTV News: "I kind of clicked into soul music more than anything else because of the vocals. You've got to have good vocals to sing soul music and I always liked it ever since I was little."
Music career
In 2001, at the age of fourteen, Stone auditioned for the BBC Television talent show Star for a Night in London singing Franklin's 1968 Goffin-King hit "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and Whitney Houston's 1998 "It's Not Right but It's Okay".[5] After passing her audition, she sang Donna Summer's 1979 "On the Radio" for the broadcast, and eventually won the contest. Stone then performed on a charity show, where she drew the attention of the Boilerhouse Boys, composed of London-based producers Andy Dean and Ben Wolfe, who contacted S-Curve Records founder and chief executive officer Steve Greenberg in December 2001 telling him that "they had just heard the greatest singer they'd ever heard from their country." In early 2002, Greenberg flew Stone to New York City for an audition, in which she sang to backing tracks of classic soul songs: Otis Redding's 1968 "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay", Gladys Knight & the Pips' 1973 "Midnight Train to Georgia", and Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman"; Greenberg instantly signed her to his label. Since then, she has appeared onstage with artists such as James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Donna Summer, Gladys Knight, Tom Jones, Robbie Williams, Melissa Etheridge, Rob Thomas, Rod Stewart, and Blondie. Stone is well-known for her trademark barefoot performances.
The Soul Sessions (2003)

After being signed by S-Curve Records, Stone flew to Miami and Philadelphia to start work on her debut album, The Soul Sessions, released on 16 September 2003. She collaborated with people with solid credentials in the Miami soul scene such as Betty Wright, Benny Latimore, Timmy Thomas, and Little Beaver as well as contemporary acts Angie Stone and The Roots.
The album consists of little-known soul tracks by Wright, Franklin, Laura Lee, Bettye Swann, and others. Released in late 2003, it reached the top five on the UK Albums Chart as well as the top forty of the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. The lead single, "Fell in Love with a Boy", a reworking of The White Stripes' 2001 "Fell in Love with a Girl", reached the top twenty of the UK Singles Chart, as did the second single, a cover version of Sugar Billy's 1974 song "Super Duper Love (Are You Diggin' on Me)". The album eventually went triple platinum by the British Phonographic Industry in mid-April 2005 and gold by the Recording Industry Association of America in late March 2004.
Mind, Body & Soul (2004)

After achieving critical acclaim with The Soul Sessions, Stone recorded her second album—this time with new material—Mind, Body & Soul, released on 28 September 2004. She was quoted to say this was her real debut. "I think my singing is so much better on this album", she says. It proved to be an even bigger success than her previous album, as it debuted at number one in the UK (breaking the record for the youngest female ever to top the UK Albums Chart, a record previously held by Avril Lavigne) and just missed the top ten of the U.S. Billboard 200, after peaking at number eleven. The lead single, "You Had Me", became her biggest hit to date when it rose to number nine in the UK. Follow-up singles "Right to Be Wrong" and "Spoiled" both made the top forty, and "Don't Cha Wanna Ride", the top twenty. "Spoiled" landed just outside the top fifty of U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, peaking at number fifty-four. In early September 2005, Mind, Body & Soul was certified triple platinum by the BPI and platinum by the RIAA.
At the 2005 BRIT Awards, Stone won for British Female Solo Artist and British Urban Act—entering the Guinness World Records as the youngest BRIT Award solo winner at age seventeen—, and was nominated for British Breakthrough Act. She performed "Angels" with Robbie Williams during the ceremony, which took place on 9 February 2005. She also received a nomination for Best UK Act of the Year at the 2005 MOBO Awards, as well as three nominations for the 2005 Grammy Awards—Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "You Had Me", and Best Pop Vocal Album for Mind, Body & Soul —, where she sang with rock performer Melissa Etheridge, in tribute to blues-rock singer Janis Joplin. Their performance of "Cry Baby/Piece of My Heart" was released as a single, and through the aid of strong digital download sales, became Stone's first single to enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, when it debuted and peaked at number thirty-two the week of 2 April 2005.
Introducing Joss Stone (2007)

Stone began work on her third studio album, Introducing Joss Stone, at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, in May 2006. Released on 12 March 2007, it involves production by Raphael Saadiq and collaborations with Lauryn Hill, Common, and Joi. Virgin Records describes the album as "an electrifying mix of warm vintage soul, '70s-style R&B, Motown girl-group harmonies, and hip-hop grooves". Stone herself describes it as "truly me. That's why I'm calling it Introducing Joss Stone. These are my words, and this is who I am as an artist." She also revealed on The Tavis Smiley Show that her break-up with Beau Dozier was a source of inspiration while writing Introducing Joss Stone.
The album debuted and peaked at number twelve on the UK Albums Chart, not managing to match the success of Stone's two previous albums. It nevertheless debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 selling 118,000 copies in its first week, becoming the highest debut for a British solo female artist on the U.S. chart, surpassing the record previously held by Amy Winehouse with Back to Black (which in turn would later be outdone by Leona Lewis, whose album Spirit debuted at number one the week of 26 April 2008). Stone was nominated for the MOBO Award for Best UK Female in September 2007, but lost out to Winehouse.
"Tell Me 'bout It", the album's lead single, debuted and peaked at number twenty-eight on the UK Singles Chart—where it stayed for three weeks only—, and peaked at number eighty-three on the U.S Billboard Hot 100. The second single, "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now", a collaboration with rapper Common, failed to chart inside the UK top seventy-five, but made the top sixty-five of the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. "Baby Baby Baby" was released digitally in December 2007 and physically in January 2008 as the third single.
In support of the album, Stone embarked on a North American tour which began on 27 April at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut, and ended on 13 June at the Filene Center in Vienna, Virginia, visiting sixteen cities in total including Philadelphia, San Francisco, Vancouver, Chicago, Toronto, New York City, and Boston. Two months later, she went on a North American late-summer tour which kicked off on 27 August at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California, and ended on 29 September at the Crossroads in Kansas City, Missouri, covering twelve cities—this time including Mexico City.
At the 2007 Grammy Awards, Stone shared the award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for her collaboration with John Legend and Van Hunt on their 2005 cover of Sly & the Family Stone's 1971 chart-topper "Family Affair".
On 21 April 2008, Starpulse reported that Stone is going to launch a legal battle in a bid to leave EMI and free her of her current three-album deal with the record label. She says, "I'm not happy at all with EMI. I've spoken to my lawyers and am seeing what my options are. The industry is in a state and EMI are in a state, so I would rather work on other things."

Stone revealed to Billboard magazine that her fourth studio album was written and recorded in about a week in Devon in early 2008. "I kind of woke up one morning and wanted to make an album", she says. "It's very, very raw. It's a bunch of musicians, writers and myself, and we're just jamming, basically." Originally scheduled for release in April 2009, EMI delayed the album's release until July. In promotion of the album, entitled Colour Me Free, Stone will be playing concerts throughout the United Kingdom in the months to come, starting in Wellington, Somerset, on 19 February.
Other works
In July 2005, Stone lent her voice to the Fantastic Four soundtrack, singing the title song "What Ever Happened to the Heroes", written by Pink, Billy Mann, and Christopher Rojas and produced by Beau Dozier shortly before their break-up in November 2005.
Stone performed a medley of "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" and "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" with funk legend James Brown on BBC One's chat show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross on 1 July 2005, and sang a duet with Rob Thomas on a cover of Stevie Nicks's 1981 song "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" at Fashion Rocks 2005 on 8 September 2005. On 5 February 2006, Stone joined Stevie Wonder, India.Arie, and John Legend during the Super Bowl XL pre-game ceremonies to perform a medley of Wonder's hits. Three days later, on 8 February, on the night of the 2006 Grammy Awards, she helped perform a medley of Sly & the Family Stone's hits alongside Legend, Ciara, Maroon 5, will.i.am, Robert Randolph, Steven Tyler, and Joe Perry.
Stone collaborated with jazz pianist Herbie Hancock and blues singer-guitarist Jonny Lang on a cover of U2's 1988 song "When Love Comes to Town" for Hancock's 2005 album Possibilities. That same year, Stone was featured along with Sean Paul on Santana's "Cry Baby Cry", and worked with Patti LaBelle on a remake of the latter's 1985 song "Stir It Up" for the soundtrack to the Disney animated film Chicken Little. "I first heard her before I had seen her, and I said, 'Where is that black girl from?' She sounded like a black girl! No, no, not a girl—a black woman", LaBelle said of Stone. She also collaborated with Lemar in 2006 on his third studio album, The Truth About Love, on the track "Anniversary".
On 28 June 2007, Stone asked Queen guitarist Brian May to perform "Under Pressure" with her at the Concert for Diana, held at Wembley Stadium, London, on 1 July 2007. Although May had initially accepted, he eventually declined as he realised how different the arrangement was from the original, stating that "he was not going to be able to do it justice". Stone went on to perform the song solo as well as her hit "You Had Me" and a cover of Homer Banks's 1966 "Ain't That a Lot of Love" with Tom Jones.
Stone covered Nat King Cole's 1965 classic "L-O-V-E" for the latest advertising campaign for Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle fragrance. The Joe Wright-directed short film, entitled Coco Mademoiselle, stars Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley as fashion legend Coco Chanel. Also, for the Christmas season, Stone recorded the song "All I Want for Christmas", written and produced by Emmy Award-nominated songwriter Dan Mackenzie, during her European tour in November 2007. Both songs were made available on iTunes, the former on 18 September 2007 and the latter on 18 December 2007.
In 2007, Stone collaborated with Beninese singer Angélique Kidjo on a cover of The Rolling Stones' 1969 song "Gimme Shelter" for Kidjo's album Djin Djin, and made a cameo appearance in Mexican singer Aleks Syntek's music video "Historias de Danzón y de Arrabal". The following year, Stone appeared on Randy Jackson's compilation album Randy Jackson's Music Club, Vol. 1 with the song "Just Walk on By", which contains a sample from Dionne Warwick's 1964 song "Walk on By". The song was originally supposed to feature Three 6 Mafia in addition to Stone, but the rap group did not make the cut for unknown reasons.
In November 2007, Stone was a guest of Jeff Beck at his truimphant shows at Ronnie Scott's, recorded on the DVD Jeff Beck Performing this week Live at Ronnie Scotts. Stone sang Curtis Mayfield's "People get Ready".
On 7 December 2007, Stone performed live with LeAnn Rimes on the television show CMT Crossroads, which pairs country artists with artists from other music genres. The repertoire included Stone's "Super Duper Love", "Fell in Love with a Boy", and "Tell Me 'bout It", and Rimes's "Nothin' Better to Do", "Good Friend and a Glass of Wine", and "How Do I Live", as well as the jazz standard "Summertime". Their performance of "Tell Me 'bout It" was announced on 5 February 2008 as one of the first-round nominees for Performance of the Year at the 2008 CMT Music Awards.
Stone contributed to the soundtrack to the 2008 film adaptation of Sex and the City with overdubbed vocals on Al Green's 1972 classic "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart", reinvented as a duet.
Stone recorded a new version of the song "Unchained Melody" (first recorded by Todd Duncan in 1955) with French singer Johnny Hallyday on his 2008 album Ça ne finira jamais, on which Stone sings the original English lyrics while Hallyday sings the lyrics to Les Chaussettes Noires' 1962 French-language version "Les enchaînés".
On 26 October 2008, Stone sang the British national anthem, God Save the Queen, before the NFL match between the San Diego Chargers and the New Orleans Saints, held at Wembley Stadium, London.
On 7 December 2008, Stone performed The Who's 1965 song "My Generation" on CBS's Kennedy Center Honors TV special at the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C., honouring Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey.
On 27 December 2008, Stone released the song "The Anti-Christmas Carol" and its video on her website as the 2008 Christmas gift. In contrast to most Christmas songs, which state that Christmas is the most delightful time of the year, in "The Anti-Christmas Carol" Stone states that she is happy that Christmas only occurs once a year, because of all the stress she experienced during her family dinner.
Stone performed a duet with Yolanda Adams on Adams's 1991 song "Just a Prayer Away" in honour of film director Tyler Perry at the 2009 BET Honors, held at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. on 17 January.
Stone appeared on American Idol on 26 March 2009 singing a duet entitled "You're the One for Me", with legendary Motown singer/producer/songwriter Smokey Robinson, from his upcoming album Time Flies When You're Having Fun.
In 2009, Stone, along with Buick Audra, recorded a version of the 1920s gospel children's song "This Little Light of Mine" for the EMI Gospel/Vector Recordings compilation album Oh Happy Day: An All-Star Music Celebration.
Screen career
Stone made her film debut in the fantasy adventure film Eragon (based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Christopher Paolini), directed by Stefen Fangmeier and released on 15 December 2006, playing the witch Angela. Of the experience, Stone said, "I was like, 'Why do you want me? I'm a singer, for Christ's sake.' I don't know why [Fangmeier] wanted me, but he did. I'm always getting approached for films—maybe they see me onstage and see the way I get all emotional. But I was like, 'Hey, let's do it.' I never really take anything seriously until I have to, and acting is fun. I never thought I'd do it, but hey, why not, man?"
In March 2008, Stone signed up for the role of a lesbian named Stephanie in the upcoming British romantic comedy Snappers. "I just wanted to challenge myself. There are things in the film that are going to really push the boundaries, and that excites me! I can also confirm there will be a long lingering French kiss, but it won't be with a male!", Stone said. In addition to acting, she will produce the film's soundtrack. The film, which will also star Chloe Howman, Caroline Quentin, and Bruce Jones, will premiere at the English Riviera Comedy Film Festival in September 2008. Stone will make her television debut portraying Henry VIII's fourth wife Anne of Cleves in the forthcoming third season of Showtime's series The Tudors.
Media attention and endorsements
In March 2005, Stone was named the spokesperson for Gap, replacing actress Sarah Jessica Parker. She appeared in a television advert for the megastore singing a cover of Ray Charles's 1958 song "Night Time Is the Right Time" (retitled "The Right Time"). "All those bum shots? They're not mine", The Sun quoted her as saying. "They're other girls. That's not my bum, I promise." Stone also appeared in one of Gap's Fall 2005 "Favorites" commercials, singing The Beach Boys' 1966 song "God Only Knows". By that time, rumours circulated about her being dropped from the campaign because she was living with then-twenty-five-year-old songwriter and producer Beau Dozier (son of Motown producer and composer Lamont Dozier) in Los Angeles while she was only seventeen. However, Gap later denied the rumours, stating that they were very happy with Stone and telling BBC Radio 1 that the claims were "absolute tosh" and "a complete fabrication".
Stone caused minor controversy at the 2007 BRIT Awards ceremony on 14 February 2007 while presenting the award for British Male Solo Artist (won by James Morrison). Speaking with what press reports described as an American accent, she gave a speech about Robbie Williams, who had been the target of earlier jokes made by host Russell Brand. Williams had been reported as going into rehabilitation that same week. As her speech continued, she made remarks about Brand, implying that he was heading for rehabilitation himself (while singing a passage of Amy Winehouse's hit "Rehab"). In response to the British media's reaction, Stone said, "At the end of the day, I don't give a fuck if people have a problem with my accent. That's all I can say about it. The words I say do not change. If the way that it sounds is skewwhiff and you don't like it, don't listen. I'm not being a cruel person by sounding a different way. And I can't help it. I've been [in America working] since I was, like, 14. All I'm doing is working. I do my job, and I go home." Producer Raphael Saadiq commented on the backlash: "I didn't understand that. Everybody in her band is damn near American—what did they expect? Look at Mark Ronson: he's from New York, yet he's speaking like he's British. I made jokes about it 'they ought to get a plane over to hear, cause she don't sound like no American to me.'"
In March 2007, Stone joined the Campaign for Little Britain, which is petitioning New York City—known for its ethnic enclaves such as Little Italy, Spanish Harlem, and Chinatown—to formally recognise Little Britain as a new neighbourhood in Manhattan. "Britain is a wicked place full of culture and great people", she said, adding: "We can all blend and become one, then the world will be a happier place in the great scheme of things."
In mid-December 2007, Stone was named the new Flake girl to star in a series of television adverts for the Cadbury Schweppes product in the spring of 2008. According to the company, she is the first non-model to take the role.
Stone was asked personally by Barack Obama to write and record a song for his presidential campaign, reportedly due to the fact that she appeals across racial boundaries. The song, entitled "Governmentalist", was performed at HeadCount's "Get Out the Vote Party" at the Highline Ballroom in New York City on 3 November 2008. It will appear on Stone's forthcoming fourth studio album.
Philanthropy
Stone joined Band Aid 20 on 14 November 2004 in benefit of Sudan's troubled Darfur region. The group, consisting of such luminaries as Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin and U2 lead singer Bono, re-recorded the 1984 song "Do They Know It's Christmas?", written by Band Aid organisers Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. Stone, born two years after the release of the original single, was not initially aware of who Bob Geldof was.[70] The media gleefully reported that she repeatedly referred to him as Bob Gandalf. Despite some criticism, the single became the UK's biggest-selling single of 2004 as well as the 2004 Christmas number-one single.
On 11 April 2005, Stone performed "Spoiled", Rufus' 1974 song "Tell Me Something Good" with John Legend, Otis Redding's 1966 song "Try a Little Tenderness" with Donna Summer, and 1977's "Hot Legs" with Rod Stewart at "Save the Music: A Concert to Benefit the VH1 Save the Music Foundation", in benefit of VH1's Save the Music Foundation. Three months later, on 2 July 2005, Stone performed "Super Duper Love", "I Had a Dream", and "Some Kind of Wonderful" at the Live 8 concert at Hyde Park, London.
Stone was named the World's Best Celebrity Dog Owner of 2005 in an online poll conducted by readers of The New York Dog Magazine and The Hollywood Dog Magazine] She owns two female dogs: Missy (named for rapper Missy Elliott), a Rottweiler, and Dusty (named for Dusty Springfield, one of her major influences), a Poodle. That same year, she was voted the World's Sexiest Vegetarian by peta2, alongside Chris Martin. Stone, a vegetarian since birth—having been brought up as one by her parents—, was photographed by Justin Borucki posing with a chicken in an advert for PETA in March 2007, whose tagline states, "I am Joss Stone and I am a vegetarian". She was also one of the entertainers appearing in PETA's 2007 documentary film Your Mommy Kills Animals.
Among other musicians such as Rod Stewart, Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan, Dionne Warwick, and Plácido Domingo, Stone was photographed by Canadian singer-guitarist and photographer Bryan Adams for Phonak's Hear the World initiative, whose main goal is to raise global awareness for the topic of hearing and hearing loss. "Being able to hear means that you can enjoy all the sounds of the world", she said.
Following the release of "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now" in mid-2007, Stone and Common turned the single's music video into a Product Red, reverting 100% of the gains from copies of the video purchased from iTunes to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Stone is the first Product Red artist to do so.
On 7 July 2007, Stone performed at the South African leg of the Live Earth concerts at the Coca Cola Dome in Johannesburg, to promote awareness of global warming. She sang the Introducing Joss Stone tracks "Girl They Won't Believe It", "Headturner", "Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now", "Music", and "Tell Me 'bout It", as well as Mind, Body & Soul's "Right to Be Wrong" and "Gimme Shelter", the latter with Angélique Kidjo.
In order to raise the awareness of AIDS, Annie Lennox joined forces with twenty-three female acts (including Stone) and recorded the song "Sing", which was released on World AIDS Day on 1 December 2007, when Lennox performed at one of Nelson Mandella's 46664 concerts at Johannesburg's Ellis Park Stadium. The song appears on Lennox's fourth studio album, Songs of Mass Destruction.
In support of the LGBT community, Stone performed at the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on 26 April 2008. She also performed "Right to Be Wrong" at the LA PRIDE 2008—produced by Christopher Street West, a non-profit organisation—in West Hollywood, California, on 7 June 2008.
Personal life
Stone began dating Beau Dozier—with whom she co-wrote the song "Spoiled"—, son of Motown producer Lamont Dozier (from the Holland-Dozier-Holland fame), in 2004. She moved from her native England into Dozier's villa in the Los Angeles neighbourhood of Encino the following year. The two split up in November 2005.
Stone was the youngest woman on the 2006 Sunday Times Rich List—an annual list of the UK's wealthiest people—with £6 million, and was also ranked number seventy-eight on Maxim's 2007 Hot 100.

Amanda Leigh "Mandy" Moore (born April 10, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter, actress and fashion designer. She was raised in Florida. Moore became famous as a teenager in the late 1990s, after the release of her teen-oriented pop albums So Real, I Wanna Be with You, and Mandy Moore.
Moore has since branched out into a film career, starring in 2002's A Walk to Remember and later appearing in the lead roles of other movies also aimed at teenage audiences. Two of Moore's later films, American Dreamz and Saved!, were satires. Her private life, including her relationships with tennis player Andy Roddick as well as with actors Wilmer Valderrama and Zach Braff has been much discussed in the media. Her new album Amanda Leigh, will be released May 26, 2009.
Early life
Moore was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, the daughter of Stacy, a former news reporter who once worked for the Orlando Sentinel, and Don Moore, a pilot for American Airlines. Moore's father is of Irish and Cherokee descent and her mother is of English and Jewish ancestry. Moore has two brothers, Scott and Kyle; she grew up in Longwood, Florida, outside of Orlando, moving there shortly after her birth because of her father's job as an airline pilot. She was raised in the Catholic religion (although she is no longer a practicing Catholic) and attended Bishop Moore High School, a Catholic school in Orlando, as well as Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs.
Moore's interest in singing grew after seeing the musical Oklahoma!; she was also encouraged to perform by her maternal grandmother, who was her inspiration. Some of Moore's first public exposure occurred when she sang the national anthem at several Florida sporting events. She subsequently came to the attention of the head of A&R at Epic Records after his friend, a FedEx employee, overheard her as she sang at a recording studio.
Music career
1999–2002: Early pop albums
Moore toured with the Backstreet Boys throughout 1999. Her debut album, So Real, was released in December 1999 and reached #31 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart. At the time of the album's release, reviewers considered Moore the latest in a series of heavily-marketed female teen singers described as "pop princesses", akin to Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, and Christina Aguilera. Entertainment Weekly's review noted that Moore's songs, revolving around "not-yet-experienced love", were performed with "suffocating professionalism", and that the album's ballads were "nauseating". Moore reached mainstream radio later and at a younger age than Simpson, Aguilera and Spears had, and was initially not as successful as they were, although So Real was certified platinum in the U.S. in early 2000 and sold nearly one million copies. Moore's debut teen-oriented pop hit single "Candy", which Yahoo! Movies described as "strangely provocative" peaked just outside the top forty on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold. The single was more successful in Europe especially in the UK where it reached number 6. Allmusic noted the single was "mediocre" and "typical", containing lyrics that described love "in terms of sugar treats".
Moore released I Wanna Be with You in May 2000. The album, which was mostly completed with synthesizers, bass, guitar, and drums comprised new songs alongside tracks and remixes from So Real. Several reviewers criticized it on the basis that it was a remix album and not a true follow-up, with Allmusic writing that its style was "trashier, flashier, gaudier, and altogether more disposable" than its predecessor. It peaked at #21 on the Billboard 200, was certified gold in the U.S. sold nearly 1,000,000 copies. The title track "I Wanna Be with You" was the album's only single and reached #24 on the Hot 100, Moore's highest peak to date. It was also featured on the soundtrack of the film Center Stage (2000).
In June 2001 Moore released her second full length (third overall) cd, the self-titled album Mandy Moore. She promoted the album with her first headlining concert, "Mandy Moore Live@ShoutBack". The album contained uptempo tracks and influences from Eastern music and was described as a "lush, layered production" by Allmusic. It received mixed reviews from critics The album debuted at number thirty-five on the Billboard 200, was later certified gold in the U.S. sold 443,000 copies. Lead single "In My Pocket", which Entertainment Weekly said contained "pumping, Indian influenced Euro disco", The album's follow-up single, "Crush". The early 2002 release of the final single, "Cry", tied in with the film A Walk to Remember, Moore's debut as a lead actress.
In 2006, Moore commented on her early albums with ill feelings, noting that although she believed that her first album was appropriate for her age she felt it "sucked" and that her first albums were "just awful". Moore also said that she "would give a refund to everyone who bought my first two albums" if she could; during a radio interview in April 2006, the show's co-host (who had seen her comments) asked her for a refund on the first album, a request that Moore fulfilled.
2003–2006: Coverage, compilations
In October 2003, Moore released her fourth album Coverage, which Allmusic characterized as a "leap to musical maturity" and which Entertainment Weekly called an "effort to shed her bubblegum-blond image". The album peaked at number fourteen on the Billboard 200 (her highest ranking to date); but "Have a Little Faith in Me" and "Senses Working Overtime", its only two singles, did not perform well on the charts. Moore's cover of "I Feel the Earth Move" appeared on Love Rocks, a compilation CD of songs from gay rights supporters.
Due to low sales for Coverage, Sony's Epic Records dropped Moore. The company released the hits compilation album The Best of Mandy Moore, which reached number 148 on the Billboard 200 in November 2004 as a final obligation to Moore's contract. Another compilation, Candy, followed in 2005. During this time period, the only music Moore had recorded was a song demo, "Hey!", written by James Renald, and a cover version of Lori McKenna's "Beautiful Man".
2007–present: Wild Hope and Amanda Leigh
In early 2006, Moore stated that she missed her music career and that singing is what she was the "most passionate about". Moore had signed to Sire Records after her contract with Epic Records ended, but left the company in May 2006. She signed with a new EMI Music-owned record company, The Firm, in July that year, describing her new contract as "especially exciting", and adding that she left Sire Records because she did not want to "follow the mainstream", but rather have "complete control and freedom" over her work. Moore's new album, Wild Hope, was released on June 19, 2007, and includes collaborations with artists Chantal Kreviazuk, Rachael Yamagata, Lori McKenna and The Weepies. Moore stayed alone in a house in Woodstock in Upstate New York while recording the album in late 2006. She performed new material from Wild Hope at the Sundance Film Festival; her first single, "Extraordinary", premiered on her MySpace profile on January 29, 2007. Moore performed the song at the Brick Awards on April 12, 2007 and launched a tour in the summer of 2007.
The album was released in the USA in June 2007 to generally positive reviews. It fared moderately well on the charts, debuting at number thirty on the Billboard 200 (Moore's third highest charting album in the U.S.), and at number 84 in Canada. In August 2007, Moore toured with Paula Cole, and Rachael Yamagata, playing at mid-size venues in the United States and Canada. Wild Hope was placed at number 10 on Entertainment Weekly's "The Must List" and also named Reader's Choice for that August 10 issue, two months after its release. Moore surprised many with a free concert in Boston on July 18, 2007.
On February 23, 2008, Moore released Wild Hope in Australia, and subsequently toured with Ben Lee and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in Western Australia, supporting Kelly Clarkson on her tour. In October 2008, Moore posted on her website blog live videos of three new songs she's been working on, along with singer-songwriter, pianist and guitarist Mike Viola. It was at first expected to a be a duo album between the two, but then in January 2009, it was revealed it would be a solo album with a collaboration with him, slated for release in April 2009.
It was announced in February 2009 that the new album was to be released in May 2009, and named Amanda Leigh on a new label called Storefront Recordings. This new label was founded by Moore's long time manager John Leshay.
Acting career
2000–2002
During the summer of 2000, Moore hosted a half-hour MTV talk show, The Mandy Moore Show, which was renamed Mandy a year later. Moore was also a Neutrogena spokesperson, appearing in commercials and print ads for the product. She has modelled for Penshoppe in the Philippines, Coach handbags in Japan, and was a spokesperson for the School and Youth Programs of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
In 2001, Moore appeared in a small part as the mean and popular cheerleader Lana Thomas opposite actresses Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews in the film The Princess Diaries. During the film, Moore's character performs "Stupid Cupid," a song from the film's soundtrack. In 2002, Moore had her first starring role in a major feature film in A Walk to Remember, which co-starred Shane West. Based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, the film revolved around the developing romance between a Protestant minister's daughter (Moore) and an unruly teenager (West). The film was moderately successful, bringing in $41 million in the United States, and establishing Moore's status as a lead actress. Although the film received mainly negative reviews, Moore received several positive notices for her performance, with critic Roger Ebert calling her "quietly convincing". At that summer's MTV Movie Awards, Moore won an award for "Breakthrough Female Performance" for the role. The same year, she voiced the Final Fantasy VII character Aeris Gainsborough in the Square-Disney crossover video game Kingdom Hearts, was featured in the music video for Elton John's "Original Sin." and was ranked number sixty-seven in Stuff magazine's "102 Sexiest Women in the World".
2003–2005
In 2003, Moore starred in the romantic comedy film How to Deal, which failed to draw in teenage crowds in the U.S. and grossed a total of $14–million domestically. Her next film was 2004's Chasing Liberty, a romantic comedy that grossed approximately $12 million. Both films received negative reviews;[ Ebert once again singled Moore's performances out, noting in his review of How to Deal that Moore has "an unaffected natural charm" and "almost makes the movie worth seeing", and adding in his Chasing Liberty review that she has "undeniable screen presence and inspires instant affection". Other critics described her as an "actress of limited range", though one review of Chasing Liberty noted that she is the "most painless of former pop princesses". Later in 2004, Moore appeared in a lead role in the religion satire Saved!, in which she played Hilary Faye, a proper and popular girl at a Christian school. The film was positively reviewed, though it did not receive a wide release. Moore received praise for her performance, with one critic calling her a "demented delight" and another naming it her best performance to date.
In 2005, Moore lent her voice to the film Racing Stripes and appeared on the television series Entourage; she was also originally scheduled to star in the films Cursed, Havoc, and The Upside of Anger, all of which were eventually released in 2005 without Moore's involvement.
2006–2007
In 2006, Moore guest-starred in two episodes of Scrubs. The same year, she lent her voice to The Simpsons, playing Tabitha Vixx in the episode Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play which aired in May. Moore also appeared in the parody American Dreamz, which was released in April 2006. In the film, she played a deranged contestant on a television series modeled after American Idol. Director Paul Weitz stated that he had Moore in mind for the role before she was cast, explaining that "there's something inherently sweet about Mandy; it makes it all the more interesting to see her in a villainess role". Moore has said that she enjoys playing mean-spirited characters but fears being typecast as a villain. American Dreamz opened at number nine at the U.S. box office, eventually totaling barely $7 million, and received mixed reviews; critic Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly, however, wrote that Moore and co-star Hugh Grant have a "wicked barbed chemistry" in their roles, while Variety's Robert Koehler said Moore's role was a "pitch-perfect study of a woman for whom a reality show is reality". Later that year, in what ComingSoon.net's review described as a "surprisingly good performance", Moore voiced Nita, the heroine of the Disney animated sequel Brother Bear 2, which was released directly-to-DVD on August 29. She was also originally cast to appear in that year's ensemble film Bobby, but was replaced by Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
Moore, citing her conservative upbringing, has expressed dissatisfaction with her appearance on a May 2006 cover of Cosmopolitan; the magazine's headline is "orgasms unlimited", which refers to an article unrelated to her. Ironically in her next movie, Because I Said So, co-starring Gabriel Macht, Lauren Graham and Diane Keaton, Moore's character describes in detail the feeling of an orgasm to her mother, Keaton's character. It was released on February 2, 2007 and received mixed reviews. In License to Wed, Moore portrays a young bride-to-be who has to complete a three-week prenup course before her wedding. Co-starring John Krasinski as her fiance and Robin Williams as a minister, the film was released on July 3, 2007 to mostly negative reviews.
Moore's movies have grossed a total of $220,701,061 domestically.
Fashion career
Moore branched into the fashion world in 2005 with her own fashion line named Mblem., a brand of contemporary knitwear and cashmere. The line was sold in over 500 specialty boutiques including Ron Herman and Lisa Kline and in some department stores such as Macy's West, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom. One of her aims was to provide clothing for taller girls (Moore herself is 5'10). In February 2009, Moore announced that the line would be shutting down, but that she hoped to reenter the fashion world again under different circumstances in the future. She was appeared to the cover of Marie Claire on April 2009.
Personal life
Moore dated Philippines-born singer/actor Billy Crawford for a "few months" when she was younger.
Moore dated actor Wilmer Valderrama for eighteen months between 2000 and 2002. In 2006, Valderrama appeared on The Howard Stern Show and detailed that he and Moore were each other's "first loves" although he did not claim that their relationship was sexual, as was alleged by several media sources who misquoted his remarks. Moore later referred to Valderrama as a "good guy" and a "gentleman" although she has stated that his comments about their relationship were "utterly tacky".
Moore began dating tennis star Andy Roddick in 2002; Roddick ended the relationship in March 2004.
In November 2004, Moore began dating Scrubs actor Zach Braff. Referring to Braff, Moore said that she likes "good Jewish boy(s)... with a sense of humor". In 2006, the two were incorrectly reported to be engaged and broke up later in 2006.
In early 2007, media reports linked Moore to Adam Goldstein, known professionally as "DJ AM" though the two were reported to have ended their relationship in March 2007.
Also in 2007, she briefly dated actor/singer Greg Laswell.
Moore got engaged to singer-songwriter and New York resident Ryan Adams, formerly of the alt-country band Whiskeytown; they announced their engagement on February 11, 2009 and married on 10 March, 2009, in Savannah, Georgia.
Moore's favorite musicians include Elton John, Switchfoot, Weezer, and Bette Midler; Midler is also Moore's favorite actress, and her film Beaches was Moore's favorite film when she was a teenager. Moore also enjoys Annie Hall and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and has described herself as a "glass-half-full kind of person"; She says she does not know how to cook, but has set a goal for herself to take cooking classes.
Moore has also become a fan of mixed martial arts, often attending UFC events and being noted as one of the mainstream celebrities on hand. When shown at UFC 83, from Montreal, Quebec, color commentator Joe Rogan jokingly referred to her as a "UFC groupie". She was next seen at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 24, 2008 for UFC 84, with play-by-play announcer Mike Goldberg observing that "She's becoming a UFC regular." She was seen at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on July 6, 2008 for UFC 86, cheering for light heavyweight contender Forrest Griffin and most recently at UFC: Silva vs. Irvin on July 19, 2008.
As to her religious beliefs, Moore considers herself spiritual, and has said that she does not think of herself as either Catholic or Christian. In early 2007, Moore stated that during the previous year, she had undergone a "really crazy time" in her life, asking herself "life-altering questions".

Brother: Cameron
Kristen Jaymes Stewart is an American film and television actress. She is known for roles in the films Panic Room, Catch That Kid, Zathura, In the Land of Women, Into the Wild, Jumper, and Twilight.
Biography
Personal life
Stewart was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where she currently lives with her family. Her father, John Stewart, is a stage manager and television producer who has worked for Fox. Her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, is a scriptwriter originally from Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia. She attended school until the seventh grade, and then continued her education by correspondence. She has an older brother, Cameron Stewart, and is a guitar player. A fan of rock music, her favorite bands include U2, Radiohead, The Beatles, The Specials, Laura Marling, Green Day, Nirvana and Beck. In a 2008 interview with Vanity Fair, Kristen confirmed she is dating actor Michael Angarano. She is also very close friends with her Twilight co-star, Nikki Reed. Stewart has expressed a desire to live and work in Australia, saying, "I want to go to Sydney University in Australia. My mom's from there." Apart from acting, she is also interested in attending college in the near future, saying, "I want to go to college for literature. I want to be a writer. I mean, I love what I do, but it's not all I want to do—be a professional liar for the rest of my life."
Career
Stewart's acting career began at the age of eight, after an agent saw her perform in her elementary school's Christmas show. Stewart's first role was a short, nonspeaking part in the Disney Channel TV production The Thirteenth Year. She subsequently appeared in the independent film The Safety of Objects, in which she played the tomboy daughter of a troubled single mother (Patricia Clarkson). Stewart had a major role in the Hollywood film Panic Room, playing the sullen, diabetic daughter of a divorced mother (Jodie Foster). The film received generally positive reviews, and Stewart garnered positive notices for her performance.
After Panic Room's success, Stewart was cast in another thriller, Cold Creek Manor, playing the daughter of Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone's characters; the film generally failed at the box office. Her first starring role followed, in the children's action-comedy Catch That Kid, opposite Max Thieriot and Corbin Bleu. Stewart also played the role of Lila in the thriller Undertow. To date, Stewart's most critically acclaimed role may be in the television film Speak (2004), based on the novel by Laurie Halse Anderson. Stewart, thirteen at the time of filming, played high school freshman Melinda Sordino, who stops almost all verbal contact after being raped and who deals with enormous amounts of emotional turmoil. Stewart received great praise for playing the character, who had only a few speaking lines, but kept up a dark-witted commentary inside her head throughout the film.
In 2005, Stewart appeared in the fantasy-adventure film Zathura, playing the role of Lisa – an irresponsible older sister of two little boys, who turn their house into a spacecraft hurtling uncontrollably in outer space by playing a board game. The movie received praise by critics, but Stewart's performance didn't garner much media attention as it was noted that her character is immobilized during most of the movie. The following year, she played the character Maya in Fierce People, directed by Griffin Dunne. After that film, she received the lead role of Jess Solomon in the supernatural thriller movie The Messengers.
In 2007, Stewart appeared as teenager Lucy Hardwicke in In the Land of Women, a romantic drama starring Meg Ryan and The O.C. star Adam Brody. The movie, as well as Stewart's performance, received mixed reviews. That same year, Stewart starred in Sean Penn's critically acclaimed adaptation film Into the Wild. For her portrayal of Tracy – a teenage singer who has a crush on young adventurer Christopher McCandless – Stewart received generally positive reviews. Salon.com considered her work a "sturdy, sensitive performance", and the Chicago Tribune noted that she did "vividly well with a sketch of a role." Meanwhile, Variety magazine's critic Dennis Harvey commented skeptically, "It's unclear whether Stewart means to be playing hippie-chick Tracy as vapid, or whether it just comes off that way." After Into the Wild, Stewart had a cameo appearance in Jumper and also appeared in What Just Happened, which was released in October 2008. She also co-stars in The Cake Eaters and The Yellow Handkerchief, both independent films that have only been screened at film festivals.
On November 16, 2007, Summit Entertainment announced that Stewart would play Isabella "Bella" Swan in the movie Twilight, based on Stephenie Meyer's bestselling vampire/human romance novel of the same name. Stewart was on the set of Adventureland when director Catherine Hardwicke visited her for an informal screen test which "captivated" the director. She stars alongside Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen, her character's vampire boyfriend. The film began production in February 2008 and finished filming in May 2008. Twilight was released domestically on November 21, 2008. Stewart will be reprising her role as Bella in the sequel, New Moon, in 2009.
During a radio interview with Big O and Dukes of WJFK 1067, Jason Mewes stated that he is doing a movie called K-11 with Stewart and Nikki Reed, also of Twilight. The film, which is being directed by Stewart's mother, takes place in a dorm of the Los Angeles County Jail, and will feature both Stewart and Reed as male characters. Stewart was also cast to portray Joan Jett in The Runaways, a rock 'n' roll biopic of the titular band from writer-director Floria Sigismondi.

AKA Kathryn Ann Sackhoff
Born: 8-Apr-1980
Birthplace: Portland, OR
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Occupation: Actor
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica
Father: Dennis Sackhoff
Mother: Mary
Kathryn Ann "Katee" Sackhoff (born April 8, 1980) is an American actress known for playing Captain Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on the Sci Fi Channel's Peabody Award-winning television program Battlestar Galactica. In 2004 she was nominated for a Saturn Award in the "Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series" category for her work in the Battlestar Galactica miniseries. In May 2006, she won the Saturn Award for the same role.
Personal life
Sackhoff was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in St. Helens, Oregon. Her mother Mary is an ESL program coordinator and her father Dennis is a land developer. She graduated from Sunset High School in Beaverton in 1998. She participated in swimming and ballet until her right knee was injured, which led her to begin practicing yoga, which she continues today. Sackhoff has three tattoos: One, on the back of her neck, is a Chinese symbol ('choice'). The second is on her left shoulder, as evidenced in the shower scene of "Someone to Watch Over Me," and is of a cross, but because there is no Christianity in the Battlestar Galactica universe, whenever her left shoulder blade was exposed on screen in the first two seasons it would be covered with a bandage; in later seasons temporary additions were added to the cross to make it look like a terraced pyramid. The third is on her right forearm and reads "bona fiscalia," meaning "public property" in legal Latin. This tattoo is visible in numerous episodes. Other elements from Sackhoff's life have been incorporated into the show: a ring she wears on her thumb has been described as Starbuck's engagement ring from Zak Adama, and the actress's decision to quit smoking between seasons two and three was mirrored by her character.
Towards the end of Battlestar's run, Sackhoff began feeling sick and moody, but thought nothing of it. Shortly after she finished filming Battlestar, two months after her 28th birthday, Sackhoff was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She had her thyroid removed and is currently healthy.
Career
First appearing in a series of commercials, TV movies and shows, Sackhoff got her first recurring role as 'Annie' in MTV's Undressed, next gaining a supporting role as Nell Bickford in The Education of Max Bickford. Katee made her motion picture debut in My First Mister, next appearing in film as Jenna "Jen" Danzig in Halloween: Resurrection.
Sackhoff appeared in her most notable role as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace in the mini-series and followup TV series of Battlestar Galactica, for which the actress won a Saturn Award in 2005 for Best Actress on Television. The actress's persona led the writers to develop the character of Starbuck as a more volatile and complex character. What executive produce Ron Moore described as magnetism, David Eick, producer, expanded stating, "We saw this whole other side that was all because of Katee—vulnerability, insecurity, desperation. We started freeing ourselves up to explore the weakness of the character, because we knew Katee could express those things without compromising the character's strength."
Sackhoff was next cast as the evil cyborg Sarah Corvus in the short-lived NBC series, Bionic Woman. David Eick executive producer for the show, stated, "She's a very special find. Those actors who can combine the qualities of strength and vulnerability—they usually call those people movie stars."
Sackhoff plays the female lead in the action/scifi movie The Last Sentinel and the supernatural thriller White Noise 2: The Light.
The actress appears as the main character in the Lifetime Original Movie How I Married My High School Crush, as well as guest appearances in Cold Case, ER, Law and Order, and Robot Chicken.
Sackhoff provided the voice of a female marine in the video game Halo 3 and is also featured in the viral marketing campaign for Resistance 2.
She appears in four episodes of the fifth season of the hit FX series Nip/Tuck, playing a new doctor, Dr. Theodora Lowe.
Sackhoff will headline NBC's Dick Wolf-produced cop drama Lost and Found, which centers on Tessa (Sackhoff), "an offbeat female LAPD detective who, after butting heads with the higher-ups, is sent as a punishment to the basement to work on John Doe and Jane Doe cases." The pilot was filmed in January 2009. No announcement has been made on whether Lost and Found has been picked up to series as yet.

Jamie Lynn Marie Spears (born April 4, 1991) is an American actress and singer, and the younger sister of pop star Britney Spears. She is best known for starring in the Nickelodeon television series Zoey 101.
Career
Jamie Lynn Spears appeared in 2001's Total Britney Live and in a Clorox and Pepsi commercial in 2002. She also starred in a number of commercials for Nickelodeon. In the same year, she appeared briefly in the movie Crossroads, as the younger version of the main character, Lucy, who was played by her older sister. For two seasons, Spears was a cast member on the Nickelodeon comedy-variety show All That. She played a number of different characters, including 84-year-old bodyguard Thelma Stump, who was the character that Spears portrayed in her audition for the program. She also did many On-Air Dares (a Nickelodeon version of Fear Factor) where she and other All That cast members had to do many "disgusting acts." She eventually left All That to star in Zoey 101, another Nickelodeon show aimed at the teen audience.
On Zoey 101, Spears portrayed Zoey Brooks, one of the first girls to pass admissions for a formerly all-boy boarding school called Pacific Coast Academy. Spears also sings the theme song for the show, entitled Follow Me, which was co-written by Emily Bob and Spears's sister, Britney. When the show debuted in January 2005, it drew a larger number of viewers aged 9-14 than any premiere on the network in the preceding eight years. Zoey 101 was nominated for a 2005 Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program. In 2006, Spears won a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards blimp for Favorite TV actress.
DreamWorks Animation announced Jamie Lynn Spears portrayed Eva, Jim’s girlfriend in the live-action/animated version of Tom and Jerry.
In March 2009, it was confirmed via Spears' official newsletter that she was recording a Country album due for a late 2009 release. She is currently unsigned at this time, but is meeting with labels. It was soon confirmed that she will be recording a country album due late 2009.
Jamie Lynn is currently set to be starring as a lead in the upcoming sequel to the 2004 film Mean Girls titled Mean Girls 2. Although unconfirmed, this would be Jamie's first cinematic leading performance.
Personal life
Spears was born in McComb, Mississippi and raised in Kentwood, LA. She attended school at Parklane Academy in McComb, where she was a cheerleader and was involved in other sports. She finished her education there by online correspondence. She also has an older brother and older sister (Britney Spears) and in February 2008, Spears received her GED. Jamie Lynn also has a daughter, Maddie Briann who was born June 19, 2008. Spears is engaged to Casey Aldridge. He has been confirmed as the baby's father. Jamie and Maddie currently reside in Liberty, Mississippi.
Pregnancy
On December 18, 2007, in an interview with OK Magazine, Jamie Lynn Spears announced that she was pregnant. Nickelodeon, the network that carries Spears's series Zoey 101, issued a statement shortly after the announcement:
We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being.
The announcement of Spears's pregnancy shocked most of her fans and generated controversy, as the media was accused of using the story to "glamorize" teenage pregnancy. While there have been reports that Zoey 101 has been cancelled, because of Jamie's pregnancy, a spokesperson for Nickelodeon told MTV News that there was no truth to those rumors and the show remained on their schedule.
Jamie has stated that the father of her daughter was Casey Aldridge, then 18, her longtime boyfriend. Because Spears was two years below the California's age of consent, questions came up regarding their age difference, and whether Aldridge could or would be charged with statutory rape (although Spears was neither from California nor living there). The Department of Motor Vehicles of Mississippi subsequently confirmed Aldridge's age of just less than two years older than Spears, which meant that at most he could only be charged with a misdemeanor under California law, which has an exception for adults less than three years older than the minor. There has also been legal discussion on the legality of the breast-feeding photos released picturing Jamie Lynn Spears.
Reports surfaced in mid-April that Spears and Aldridge were house-hunting within her home state of Louisiana.
In June 2008 a paparazzo accused of stalking Jamie Lynn and her fiancé, Casey Aldridge, was arrested in Mississippi after the Spears family filed a complaint, saying he wouldn't leave the couple alone. Edwin Merrino, who was released later in the day after posting a $1,096 bond, denied harassing the couple.
On June 19, 2008, Spears gave birth to her first child with fiancé Casey Aldridge, a daughter, Maddie Briann Aldridge, who weighed 7 lbs 11 ounces, at 9:33 A.M. CST, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. OK! magazine reportedly paid $2 million for the first baby pictures for their July 10, 2008 issue. The couple resides in Liberty, Mississippi.

Natasha Lyonne (born April 4, 1979) is an American film and television actress.
Early life
Lyonne was born Natasha Braunstein in New York City, the daughter of Yvette Lyonne, a product licensing consultant, and Aaron Braunstein, a native of Brooklyn who worked as a boxing promoter. Lyonne grew up in an Orthodox Jewish household and lived in Israel with her family during her childhood; her maternal grandparents were Holocaust survivors. When her parents divorced, Lyonne moved back to New York and lived with her mother and older brother Adam in a one-bedroom apartment. In New York, Lyonne attended Ramaz, a private Jewish school. Her mother then moved to Miami, where Lyonne attended and graduated from Miami Country Day School.
Career
Lyonne began acting at an early age with her first role as "Opal" on Pee-wee's Playhouse. She appeared in the 1990 film A Man Called Sarge during the time her family lived in Israel.
Lyonne is perhaps best known for her roles in the first two American Pie films as the wise-cracking Jessica. She has also appeared in more than 30 other movies, including starring roles in the independent films Slums of Beverly Hills and But I'm a Cheerleader. Lyonne also appeared in Party Monster in 2003, a dramatization of the Michael Alig story. As the character Brooke, Lyonne donned a fat suit and dreadlocks.
After an extended hiatus, Lyonne filmed Goyband in New York City with Adam Pascal, Amy Davidson, Cris Judd, Dean Edwards, Tibor Feldman, and Tovah Feldshuh.
Personal life
Lyonne dated actor Edward Furlong, whom she met on the set of Detroit Rock City, from 1998 to 2000. She became friends with actor Michael Rapaport in 1997 and later rented an apartment in a building he owned on East 18th Street. In 2005, Rapaport evicted her and wrote an account of the matter in that May's issue of Jane. He said problems began in 2003 when Lyonne's heavy partying and harassment of tenants triggered complaints. After her eviction, he went to inspect her apartment and found it trashed.
Singer and former neighbor Rufus Wainwright wrote a song about her called "Natasha" included on his 2003 album Want One.
Legal troubles
On August 28, 2001, Lyonne was arrested by Miami Beach police after hitting a road sign with her rented car and trying to flee the scene. An officer who witnessed the incident said Lyonne refused to take a breathalyzer test and told him, "I'm a movie star. Can I talk to my entertainment lawyer?" Actor Adam Goldberg was riding in the car at the time. Lyonne later pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and received six months of probation and 50 hours of community service.
In December 2004, Lyonne was arrested after verbally threatening her neighbor, breaking a mirror in the neighbor's apartment, and threatening to molest the neighbor's dog[6]. She spent a night in jail before being arraigned on charges of criminal mischief, harassment, and trespassing. The details of this incident did not become publicly known until two years later. In April 2005, an arrest warrant was issued for Lyonne for failure to appear in court on the charges. Prosecutors say she showed up, but arrived an hour late and only stayed 30 minutes. Police were unable to locate Lyonne until reports of her hospitalization in August.
In January 2006, another arrest warrant was issued for her after she missed another hearing. Lyonne's lawyer said an emergency came up, but he didn't specify.
Hospitalization
In August 2005, the New York Post reported that Lyonne was in Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan under a pseudonym, and had been there for over a month after being transferred from Bellevue Hospital. She reportedly suffered from hepatitis C, a heart infection, and a collapsed lung. She was also allegedly undergoing methadone treatment for a heroin addiction and had track marks on her body. The Post also reported that Lyonne had been homeless and on the streets after her eviction by Rapaport. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Lyonne's father denied she was homeless and said he might take legal action against the hospital for breaking the confidentiality of Lyonne's status.
Recovery and return to acting
In December 2006, Lyonne appeared in court to face the 2005 charges. A judge sentenced her to conditional discharge. Since then, she has completed four films. In January 2008, she appeared in a Broadway play, Two Thousand Years.
Lyonne worked on the thriller 13, with a release date of 2010. Other cast members include Mickey Rourke, Ray Liotta, and Jason Statham.

Early life
Jennifer Eve Garth was born in Urbana, Illinois to John and Carolyn Garth, who each already had three children from different marriages. She grew up on a 25-acre (100,000 m2) horse ranch in Arcola, Illinois, with her six older half-siblings: Johnny, Chuck, Lisa, Cammie, Wendy and Lynn. Jennie also lived in Tuscola, Illinois, during her younger years. When Garth was 13, she and her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She took dancing lessons and did a little modeling while living there which led to her participation in a talent competition where she was discovered by a talent scout. She later left Greenway High School during her junior year, and she and her mother moved to Los Angeles so she could become an actress, later obtaining her high school diploma in California. There, she started taking acting classes and went to auditions almost every day. After living in L.A. for about four months, she landed the role of Erica McCray on the NBC series A Brand New Life (1989).
Career
In 1990, Garth landed her most famous role to date, that of Kelly Taylor on the television series Beverly Hills, 90210. Garth displayed a wide range of acting talent, initially portraying a spoiled and self- centered teenager and eventually portraying Kelly as a well-adjusted and caring adult. Throughout the series, Garth's character faced trial and tribulation in dramatic situations such as becoming a diet pill abuser during her senior year in high school - a time in which she displayed several other signs of depression, being trapped in a fire, getting involved in a cult called The New Evolution, becoming addicted to cocaine and entering rehab - and subsequently going to summer school after junior year of college, becoming pregnant and then miscarrying and being diagnosed with endometriosis, being shot and suffering amnesia, and then being raped and later shooting the rapist. Garth's character Kelly often had to deal with difficult issues regarding family too, and the character became one of the most developed as well as relatable on the series. Kelly was forced to confront her drug addict and alcoholic mother during her junior year in high school, deal with her abstentee father who later went to prison, and help her step-brother, David, with his battle against crystal meth. Kelly was also involved in two poignant love trials - one in which she and her best friend, Brenda, competed for the affections of Dylan, and another in which best friends Brandon and Dylan competed for her attention. Throughout the series, Garth displayed an exceptional understanding of the character and her struggles and triumphs and portrayed Kelly in an extremely relatable way which made her one of the most popular characters on the show. It is often said that her monologue in episode 13, "Slumber Party," was her first of many truly shining moments on the series, and her other cast members recalled that moment specifically in the 10 year anniversary reunion special in 2003. Garth appeared on the show for the full 10 seasons until its end in 2000, along with Ian Ziering, Tori Spelling, and Brian Austin Green. She won a Young Artist Award and was nominated for the Teen Choice Awards, both for her role on 90210.
In 2002, Garth starred in the sitcom What I Like About You as Amanda Bynes' sister Valerie Tyler. Along with Bynes, she starred on the show for all four seasons. The Show is about the relationship of the Tyler Sisters, that they live together, their friendships and romances are incluided.
In other roles, she also played the lead in a 1993 television production of Danielle Steel's Star and her story, "I Am Home," was featured in Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul.
Jennie also starred as a Lead Roles in TV Films like Star (1993), Without a Consent (1994), Falling for You (1995), and An Unfinished Affair (1996), and she had Minor and Supporting Roles in Theatrical Films like Telling You (1998), My Brother´s War (1997), and Power 98 (1996).

In 2005 she voiced her 90210´s character Kelly Taylor, and play another additional roles in the DVD Film Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story with an Ensemble Cast like Seth McFarlane, Alex Borstein, Mila Kunis, Drew Barrymore and another's.
In 2007 she starred in the TV Teen Drama Film Girl, Positive. Who plays a Teacher with HIV positive. She Starred the Movie alongside Andrea Bowen (who becomes famous for the series Desperate Housewives), the two women won a Prism Award for their performances.
In September 2008, Garth returned to the role of Kelly Taylor on the series premiere of the CW Network's spin-off series, 90210 where she is reported making $40-50,000 per episode. In the new series, Garth's character Kelly Taylor is now a guidance counselor at West Beverly High, where her half-sister Erin Silver also attends. Kelly now has a four and a half year old son with long-time flame Dylan McKay. The writers were eager to have her share scenes with Shannen Doherty who is also reprising her 90210 role of Brenda Walsh. It was reported that Garth and Doherty's characters would both have a romantic interest in the character Ryan Matthews (Ryan Eggold), reminiscent of their old rivalry for former bad boy character Dylan McKay. Garth and Doherty later confirmed that the reports about the love triangle between their characters were false.
Garth appeared on the U.S. game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? on 21 November 2008. She won $100,000 for her charity, the American Heart Association.
Dancing with the Stars
In 2007, Garth appeared on Season 5 of Dancing with the Stars and was paired with Derek Hough. Garth had consistently high scores throughout the entire competition and was one of the few contestants to maintain 8s and above after week 2. She was eliminated on the ninth week of competition finishing at a respectable fourth out of 12, after scoring her first perfect score of the competition with her Cha-Cha-Cha while Marie Osmond (who came in last place for three weeks up to that point) remained in the competition. The audience gave her a standing ovation (something very uncommon in the show). Judge Len Goodman stated that it "was not her time to go." In her exiting montage video, Derek Hough stated how proud he was of her for going on an emotional journey and improving from three 7's to three 10's.

Boyfriend: Taran Killam (actor, b. 1-Apr-1982, dated 2001-02)

Amanda Bynes starred in the WB sitcom What I Like About You, with Jennie Garth as her sister. Bynes is another mass-produced celebrity, a tweener star of the late 1990s -- not as buxom or wild as Lindsay Lohan, not as blond, bland and talentless as Hilary Duff.
Bynes' father is a dentist who occasionally moonlights as a stand-up comedian. He enrolled Amanda in "stand-up comedy classes" when she was 10, and her timing, delivery, and cuteness impressed Dan Schneider, a writer on Nickelodeon's All That. Almost immediately Bynes was a regular on that show. He created Bynes' The Amanda Show, a pre-adolescent sketch comedy show that ran three seasons. Among the running jokes, Bynes played both herself and her unlucky biggest fan, desperately trying (but always failing) to meet Bynes.
Schneider also wrote Bynes' big-screen debut Big Fat Liar co-starring Frankie Muñiz, and was co-creator and a regular writer of What I Like About You. She voiced cartoon characters in Charlotte's Web 2 and Robots, and starred in What A Girl Wants, a remake of Sandra Dee's 1958 The Reluctant Debutante, with a slumming Colin Firth.

Hannah Spearritt is an English actress and former singer. She was previously a member of the successful pop group S Club (7).
Personal life and early career
She was born in Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, the youngest of three children and is the younger sister of former model and fashion designer Tanya Spearritt. Her uncle, Eddie Spearritt, from Lowestoft was a professional football player who played for Ipswich Town F.C. in the 1960s. At the age of 3, Spearritt modelled in a Mothercare catalogue. When she was 12, she landed a part in the Great Yarmouth Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society's production of Annie. Thereafter she successfully auditioned for the National Youth Music Theatre, and became part of the company. While with the NYMT she met future S Club member and boyfriend Paul Cattermole, as well her friend and future flatmate, actress Sheridan Smith. She appeared in the NYMT's productions Pendragon (1994–1995) — performing in New York and Hong Kong, Tin Pan Ali (1996), and the West End musical Bugsy Malone (1997) — she was a member of the original cast.
In 1998 she got a part in the television film The Cater Street Hangman, playing the part of a maid who gets murdered. She had also made appearances on the National Lottery Show and Blue Peter. While Hannah was studying mathematics, performing arts and media studies at college in Great Yarmouth, she auditioned for S Club 7 after seeing an advert in a magazine - it was a life changing decision.
She was a member of S Club from 1999 to 2003. She co-starred in the groups own TV series - Miami 7 (1999), L.A. 7 (2000), Hollywood 7 (2001) and Viva S Club (2002). She took part in three UK tours, won two prestigious BRIT Awards and numerous other awards. Along with Rachel Stevens, Spearritt was a regular pin-up in dozens of magazines and was a regular in the FHM Top 100 Sexiest Women polls between 2000 and 2004. Perhaps more importantly for her future career, she gained the chance to act in a movie, when S Club released their movie Seeing Double in early 2003.
Most famously, in October 2001, amid a blaze of publicity, Spearritt revealed that she had been in a secret relationship with fellow band member Paul Cattermole for the previous six months. In 2002, Cattermole was the first to quit the group and thereafter S Club 7 became simply S Club before ultimately splitting in May 2003. Spearritt and Cattermole's relationship, however, would continue until early 2006. She recently confirmed she was dating footballer Jermaine Pennant.
Acting career
In the last week of S Club's existence, Spearritt management claimed she was at home in bed with the flu. She was actually in Los Angeles to audition for a role in the film Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London, a fact that Hannah revealed at the UK premiere of the film on 2004-03-24 in London. She got the role and three days after leaving S Club she began filming.
In March 2004, Spearritt successfully auditioned for a minor role in the horror Seed of Chucky, a movie which was seen by some as an attempt to distance herself from her squeaky clean S Club image. Shortly after completing filming, Spearritt decided to take a break from show-business to travel and spend time with her family.
In early November 2005, she made her acting comeback in the BBC's Blessed, an eight part sitcom. In Blessed, she played a minor role, appearing as a member of a fake girl band, in two episodes. December 2005 saw Spearritt appearing in the unsuccessful West End musical, Snow! The Musical, at London's Sound Theatre. The musical was cancelled just three weeks into its run because of poor ticket sales - one show managed to attract an audience of only two people.
In February 2006, it was revealed that Hannah had landed a lead role in a brand new ITV series called Primeval. Hannah plays the role of Abby Maitland, a reptile enthusiast who gets mixed up with time travelling Professor Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall) after discovering a species of reptile she had never encountered. The series began on 10 February 2007.
In late 2006, Hannah began filming for ITV1, for a guest part in Agatha Christie's Marple television mystery series. The episode, entitled At Bertram’s Hotel, was broadcast on 23 September 2007.
