AKA Margaret LeAnn Rimes
Born: August 28, 1982
Location: Pearl, Mississippi, USA
Genre(s) Country pop, Adult contemporary, Dance
Occupation(s) Singer, songwriter, actress
Voice type(s) Mezzo-soprano
Margaret LeAnn Rimes, known simply as LeAnn Rimes, (born August 28,1982) is an American singer-songwriter and actress, best known for her work in country music. She is best known for her rich vocals similar to legendary country music singer Patsy Cline, and her rise to fame at the age of 13, becoming the youngest country music star since Tanya Tucker in 1972.
Rimes made her breakthrough into country music in 1996. Her debut album, Blue, reached #1 on the Top Country Albums chart and was certified "multi-platinum" in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album's lead single of the same name (originally intended to be recorded by Patsy Cline in the early 1960s) became a Top 10 hit. With immediate success, Rimes attained widespread national acclaim for her similarities to Cline's vocal style. When Rimes released her sophomore studio effort in 1997, You Light up My Life: Inspirational Songs, Rimes went more towards country pop material, which would set the trend for a string of albums that would be released into the next decade. LeAnn Rimes is the youngest person to win a Grammy, and the first country singer to win the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
Since her debut, Rimes has won many major industry awards, which include two Grammys, three ACMs, one CMA, twelve Billboard Music Awards, and one American Music award. In addition, Rimes has also released ten studio albums and four compilation albums through her record label of 13 years, Asylum-Curb, and placed over forty singles on American and international charts since 1996. She has sold over 50 million albums worldwide.
Early life
Rimes was born Margaret LeAnn Rimes in Pearl, Mississippi in 1982 to Belinda and Wilbur Rimes. Her family later moved to Garland, Texas in 1988, where Rimes was raised. As an only child, Rimes was showered with attention by her parents. She was singing by the age of two, was enrolled into vocal and dance training, and by the age of five was performing at local talent shows . Rimes initially began her career in musical theatre, performing in a Dallas, Texas production of A Christmas Carol, and almost landed the lead part in the Broadway production of Annie. However, after appearing on the network television competition show, Star Search, Rimes decided to pursue a career in country music. Following her national television appearance, Rimes made a number of appearances on Johnnie High's Country Music Revue in Arlington, Texas, which garnered the attention of national talent scouts.
By the age of nine, Rimes was already an experienced singer. She toured nationally with her father and also regularly performed a cappella renditions of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the opening ceremonies of the Dallas Cowboys football games. In order to bring his daughter more national attention, he began recording her under the independent label, Nor Ja Vak when she turned eleven. She released three albums under the label between 1992 and 1996.
Rimes was discovered by Dallas disc jockey and record promoter, Bill Mack. Mack was impressed by Rimes's vocal ability, and over the following three years, he also made various attempts to bring Rimes to a mainstream level. The center of Mack's plan to bring her success was his self-penned composition, "Blue," which he had written thirty years before in the early 1960s. Mack claimed that the song was intended to be recorded and made a hit record by Patsy Cline, but she had been killed in a plane crash before ever recording the composition. By 1995, Mack was able to gain Rimes a contract with Curb Records, after record executives heard Rimes sing "Blue."
Music career
1996: Blue
After signing with Curb, Rimes re-recorded a new version of "Blue" that was to be released on her debut studio album on the label. In 1996, the new version of "Blue" was released as a single, peaking at #10 on the Billboard Country Chart. While Curb was releasing "Blue," a claim was also sent out that Mack had been waiting over thirty years to find the perfect artist to record "Blue." However, the story was later found to be an exaggeration, as it was discovered that "Blue" had already been recorded by three different artists. Mack himself and Kenny Roberts both released versions of the song on Starday Records in the 1960s. In 1993, Australian artist Catherine Britt released her own version as a single in her native country. The story, though, was continually spread throughout the national press, adding to the idea that Rimes was the successor to Patsy Cline's legacy. Rimes's album Blue was also released in 1996, and sold 123,000 copies in its first week, which was the highest figure in SoundScan history up to that point. The album peaked at #1 on the Top Country Albums and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, eventually selling a total of four million copies in the United States and eight million copies worldwide. Allmusic considered the album to be "delightful" and that it could "help inspire other young teens." Rimes followed up the single with several charting country singles from her 1996 album, starting with "One Way Ticket (Because I Can)," which reached #1 on the Billboard Country Chart in 1996. She also released a duet single with Eddy Arnold from the album, a remake of his 1955 hit "Cattle Call." The album's other hits included the Top 5 "The Light in Your Eyes" and the minor hit "Hurt Me."
With the album's success, Rimes received many major industry awards. In 1996 she won the Country Music Association's "Horizon Award," becoming the youngest person to ever be nominated and win a Country Music Association award. The following year she was awarded Grammy awards, one for Best New Artist and another for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Blue."
1997–2001: Pop crossover
In 1997, Rimes released a compilation of previously recorded material under the Nor Va Jak label, Unchained Melody: The Early Years. The album mainly consisted of cover versions, ranging from Country to Pop covers, including songs originally recorded by The Beatles, Whitney Houston, Bill Monroe, and Dolly Parton. Rimes' version of the title track became a major country hit in early 1997 and helped increase sales for the album. In September 1997, Rimes released her follow-up studio album to Blue entitled You Light up My Life: Inspirational Songs. The album covered classic inspirational songs, such as "Clinging to Saving a Hand" and "Amazing Grace". It also featured pop music remakes of songs such as Debby Boone's "You Light up My Life" and Bette Midler's "The Rose". The album was a departure from Rimes's previous releases as it contained more Adult Contemporary-styled music than Country. The album sold over four million copies in the United States, certifying 4× Mulit-Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album contained the single, "How Do I Live", which became a major Pop hit on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching #2. "How Do I Live" set a new record for becoming the longest-running single in Billboard Hot 100 history, spending 69 weeks on the chart. The song was originally recorded for the film Con Air, along with a version also recorded by Trisha Yearwood. Yearwood's manager at the time had told the press that Rimes's version sounded "too pop." Therefore Rimes's version received little country airplay (only reaching #43) and was rejected for the film. Yearwood's rendition was released to country radio shortly afterwards, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Country Chart in 1997, becoming the country hit instead of Rimes's version.
Rimes released her third album for Curb in May 1998, Sittin' on Top of the World. The album leaned more progressively towards Adult Contemporary and mid-tempo Pop music. It included Pop material written by Carol Bayer Sager and David Foster. It also included a remake of Prince's "Purple Rain" and was produced by her father. The album was given mixed reviews. Allmusic gave the album two out of five stars[13] Rolling Stone said Rimes vocal styles, "holds her own in the more popular style of Mariah Carey and Celine Dion, wherein a spectacular voice upstages a song, grins and goes on about her business." Upon its release, Sittin' on Top of the World debuted at #2 on the Top Country Albums chart, and #3 on the Billboard 200, and sold over a million copies in the United States, certifing "Platinum" in sales by the RIAA. The album spawned the #4 Country hit, "Commitment," the Top 20 Pop hit "Looking Through Your Eyes," and the #10 country hit "Nothin' New Under the Moon."
Rimes released her fourth studio album for Curb, LeAnn Rimes in October 1999, a collection of country standards. The album covered songs mainly by Patsy Cline — which included "Crazy," "I Fall to Pieces," and "She's Got You" — that were primarily taken from her 12 Greatest Hits album. The album also covered Marty Robbins's "Don't Worry" and Kris Kristofferson's "Me and Bobby McGee." The album included one new song, "Big Deal." The song gained many positive reviews. Allmusic called the song, "a return to her roots" and "a salute to one of her idols, Patsy Cline." The album in general received much praise. Allmusic called the album one of her "better" efforts, since they had disliked her previous releases. Entertainment Weekly gave the album a positive review and said that Rimes's voice, "dares listeners to take note of what is missing in her interpretations -- the gutsiness and gut-wrenching urgency of performers who felt what they sang." The album was a major success like her previous releases, debuting at #1 on the Top Country Albums chart, topping the country albums chart for two weeks. In addition, it also peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The album also sold over one million copies in the United States, and was certified "Platinum" in sales by the RIAA. The album's new song, "Big Deal" was the lead single off the album, and became a Top 10 country hit that year, peaking at #6. Also in 1999, Rimes recorded a duet with Elton John for the stage musical, Aida titled "Written in the Stars." The song became a Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The album would spawn a second single, a cover of Cline's "Crazy" that was released outside of the United States.
In January 2001, Rimes released her sixth studio album, I Need You, an album aimed at the Pop market. The album topped the Top Country Albums chart for one week, and also peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200. I Need You did not garner praise from many critics and was mainly given negative reviews. Rolling Stone gave the album two and a half out of five stars and called the album, "synthetic-feeling." Despite very little praise from critics, the album was sold well, certfying "Gold" in sales by the RIAA. Rimes would later go on to publicly disown the album, which she stated was compiled together from studio outtakes her father had produced. The album's lead single, "I Need You" — which was characterized by Allmusic as having similarities to that of Adult Contemporary and Pop music — was originally recorded for the TV movie, Jesus. The song became a Top 10 country hit and also a major Pop hit, reaching #11 on the Hot 100. Also included on the album was the song "Can't Fight the Moonlight," released from the soundtrack of the film, Coyote Ugly. The song was released as the album's second single in 2001, and by February 2002, the song also became a crossover Pop hit, reaching #11. "Can't Fight the Moonlight" won Rimes a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for "Favorite Song from a Movie." In mid-October 2001, Curb released a compilation of Patriotic and Inspirational songs titled, God Bless America, in order to benefit the disaster recovery for the September 11 attacks. It included the title track, as well inspirational songs such as "The Lord's Prayer" and "The Sands of Time."
2002–2004: Popularity decline
Rimes released her sixth album in 2002 titled Twisted Angel, which contained more adult material. After battling managerial control over her career the previous year, Twisted Angel became the first album released by Rimes that was not produced by her father. Instead, Rimes executive produced the album. A month following the album's release, Twisted Angel was certified "Gold" by the RIAA, her second Gold-certified album. The album received mainly negative reviews by most music critics and magazines. Allmusic stated that the album could possibly "alieniate her from her original fans" and "the songwriting is a little uneven." Rolling Stone gave the album two out of five stars, stating that the album sounded too "country-pop crossover." The album would peak at #3 on the Top Country Albums chart and #12 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart. Three singles were spawned from the album between 2002 and 2003, however none of the singles were Top 40 hits on the country or pop charts. The lead single, "Life Goes on," reached the Top 40 only on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, peaking at #19. The second single, "Tic Toc" was a Top 40 Dance club hit in 2003.
The following year when Rimes turned 21, she released a Greatest Hits compilation in November. The album recapped Rimes' major hits under Curb records from "Blue" in 1996, to "Life Goes on" in 2002. The album peaked at #3 on the Top Country Albums chart and #24 on the Billboard 200 in November. Featured on the album was the single, "We Can," which was included on the soundtrack of Legally Blonde 2 in July 2003. The album would eventually be certified "Platinum" in 2007 The following year in October 2004, Rimes issued her first holiday-themed album titled, What a Wonderful World.
2005–2007: Return to country
In January 2005, Rimes released her seventh studio album, This Woman, her first album of contemporary country music in many years. Although the album received mixed reviews from magazines and critics, it was Rimes's best-selling album in over five years, reaching #3 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the Top Country Albums chart in 2005, selling more than 100,000 copies within its first week. Rimes explained to the Chicago Sun-Times that the album helped mature her as a person, "I have 10 years of experience, so it's tough to get anything past me in this business. I've become a very strong woman because of all I've gone through, good and bad." This Woman would eventually be certified "Gold" later in 2005, after selling more than 500,000 units nationwide. The album's singles were Rimes's first Top 10 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart in five years. The three singles released from the album — "Nothin' 'Bout Love Makes Sense," "Probably Wouldn't Be This Way," and "Something's Gotta Give" — all peaked within the Top 5 on the country charts between 2005 and 2006. From the album, Rimes was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Something's Gotta Give." In addition, she was also nominated for an American Music Award for "Favorite Female Country Artist." In 2006, Rimes recorded a cover version of Barbara Mandrell's "If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don't Want to Be Right)," for a tribute album to Mandrell's career entitled, She Was a Country When Country Wasn't Cool: A Tribute to Barbara Mandrell. Rimes also would record a track for Disneyland's fiftieth anniversary celebration album entitled, "Remember When."
In summer 2006, Rimes released the studio album Whatever We Wanna, which was released exclusively outside of the United States and Canada. It was originally planned on being released in North America, however due to the success of This Woman, it was never released. The album spawned minor hits in the United Kingdom, including "And it Feels Like" and a duet with Brian McFadden entitled, "Everybody's Someone". The album leaned more towards Pop Rock and R&B music instead of country.
Rimes took a two-year break, and then released her next studio album in October 2007, Family. The album was a mix of country, pop, and rock music, and included a duet with Bon Jovi, "Til We Ain't Strangers Anymore" Family was the first album released by Rimes in which every track was co-written by Rimes herself. Rolling Stone said the songs on the album are "uneven" and rated it three and half out of five stars. Allmusic gave Family four out of five stars and said that the album, "illustrates her range as a singer along with some true strength as a writer." The album helped nominate Rimes for the Academy of Country Music's "Top Female Vocalist" award in 2008. The album's lead single, "Nothin' Better to Do" was released in mid 2007, and peaked at #14 on the Billboard Country Chart before the end of the year. The album has released two singles to date; "Good Friend and a Glass of Wine" and "What I Cannot Change." In 2008, Rimes toured with Kenny Chesney where she opened every show on his 2008 Poets and Pirates Tour, along with other artists on select dates such as Brooks & Dunn, Keith Urban, Sammy Hagar, Gary Allan, Big & Rich, and Luke Bryan. In late 2008, Rimes was nominated for a Grammy award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "What I Cannot Change," the third single from the album.
2008-Present
In 2008, she recorded For Good with Delta Goodrem for the Wicked 5th Anniversary album. LeAnn teamed up with Joss Stone for a CMT Crossroads special aired in fall 2007.
In summer 2009, Rimes announced plans for a new studio album to be released later in the year. She began performing songs on her current tour. New songs that have been confirmed tracks are, "You've Ruined Me", "God Takes Care of Your Kind", "Criminal" and "Better Off".
Musicianship
Vocal ability and musical stylings
Since her debut in 1996, Rimes's voice and vocal style have often been compared to and identified with Patsy Cline. Cline showed distinctive emotional expression in most of her material. Rimes has also used distinctive emotional expression in many of her songs, most notably her first single, "Blue", which was sung in the style of Cline. Rimes's vocal similarities to Cline had brought wide interest to the idea that Rimes was the successor to Cline's legacy, and brought her novelty appeal. Many music critics have argued that Rimes's vocals were only a reproduction of Cline's original sound, while others have disagreed. Allmusic has called Rimes's vocals "rich and powerful." Her vocal ability has also brought Rimes to comparisons to past teenage country stars, including 50s country star Brenda Lee and 70s country star Tanya Tucker. Rimes is also known for choosing mature material that is beyond her age range. In her first album, Rimes recorded such material as Deborah Allen's "My Baby", whose lyrics provocatively say, "my baby is a fulltime lover, my baby is a full-grown man." Other material such as Diane Warren's "How Do I Live" have also been considered too mature for Rimes's age and was the main reason why the song was not chosen to be used in the soundtrack for the film Con Air.
Influences
Rimes has given credit to artists from various music genres, mainly from the genres of country and pop. She has stated that Barbra Streisand, Wynonna Judd, and Reba McEntire have been primary influences on her career. Rimes has stated the main influence on her career is Patsy Cline. She has covered many of Cline's hit songs since the beginning of her career. Her 1999 self-titled album is primarily a tribute to Cline, as Rimes recorded five out of ten songs for the album that had been hits for Cline ten years before.
Film and television
After beginning to date actor Andrew Keegan in 1998, Rimes said to the press that she had some ideas about possibly getting involved in an acting career. Rimes later moved to Los Angeles, California later in the year with her mother to pursue an acting career. That year Rimes played a small role in the Made for television movie, Holiday in Your Heart, which is based on a book she had helped write. For participating in the film, Rimes was awarded the "Rising Star" award from the Lone Star Film & Television Awards. She made her official film debut in 2001, making a cameo appearance towards the end of the film, Coyote Ugly. In addition, she also recorded four songs for the film's soundtrack, including the Top 20 Pop hit, "Can't Fight the Moonlight." In 2005 Rimes hosted the country music television competition, Nashville Star on the USA television network. However she only held the position for one season after deciding to depart from the show's cast.
In early June 2007, she was chosen at the last minute to record the leading song for the soundtrack of Evan Almighty called "Ready For A Miracle" (previously recorded by Patti LaBelle). The song can be heard in the movie, during the end credits, and in the trailers of Evan Almighty. Rimes had in the movie Good Intentions with her friend Elaine Hendricks which is filming near Atlanta, Georgia. Rimes plays Meg Galligan in the made for TV movie, Northern Lights, based on the Nora Roberts novel of the same name. The film aired on the Lifetime network on March 12, 2009.
Personal life
In March 1998, Rimes began dating actor Andrew Keegan, who at the time was nineteen years old, while she was fifteen. However, shortly afterward, the couple ended their relationship.
On May 21, 2000, Rimes filed a lawsuit against her father, Wilbur Rimes, and her former manager, Lyle Walker in Dallas, Texas. Rimes claimed that her father and former manager took over seven million dollars from her in the past five years. Rimes also alleged that both men made unreasonable fees and took advantage of Rimes's label, Asylum-Curb in order to acquire financial gain. Rimes sought unspecified damages because her attorney was not sure of how much money had been lost in the past five years. According to Rimes's lawyer, her mother hired two accountants to investigate how much was taken from Rimes's fortune, and it was estimated that the men acquired around eight million dollars in royalties.
In November 2000, Rimes filed a second lawsuit against her label, Asylum-Curb. Rimes wanted permission to be released from the contract that was signed by her parents on Rimes's behalf when she originally signed with the label in 1995. She also wanted her label to turn over the rights of her music, video work, and publishing interests, and omit all of her recordings that were currently being distributed at the time of the lawsuit. Part of Rimes's legal battles ended in December 2001, when Asylum-Curb started a new contract with Rimes. In 2002, Rimes's lawsuit with her father was "settled on undisclosed terms." Rimes reconciled with her father for the wedding.
Amid the legal battles, she fell in love with backup dancer Dean Sheremet. The two met when he was chosen to dance during Rimes's hosting of the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards. After her first date with Sheremet, Rimes told InStyle Magazine that, "This is the guy I want to marry," which they did in 2002. However in July 2009, the couple separated.. Rimes is currently dating her Northern Lights co-star Eddie Cibrian.
In 2008, she opened up about her lifelong struggle with the autoimmune disease psoriasis. She participated in a PSA to raise awareness about the disease.
Rimes lent her voice to the 2008 song, Just Stand Up. The proceeds benefited Stand Up to Cancer. As a result of SU2C fundraising endeavors, the SU2C scientific advisory committee, overseen by the American Association for Cancer Research was able to award 73.6 million dollars towards novel, groundbreaking cancer research

AKA Cheerleader Melissa, Angelica, Melissa Anderson, Raisha Saeed. Alissa Flash
Born: August 17, 1982
Location: Los Angeles, California
Height 5 ft 8 in
Weight 142 lb
Melissa Marie Anderson (born August 17, 1982), better known by her ring name Cheerleader Melissa, is an American professional wrestler currently signed to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling where she works as Raisha Saeed, the manager of Awesome Kong, and Alissa Flash.
Early life
Melissa is one of the few second-generation female wrestlers. Her father, Doug Anderson, wrestled professionally before her in the early 1980s. Growing up she became a fan of her father's work and also showed her own flair for sports, particularly soccer as well as joining Palmdale High School's athletics and amateur wrestling team as one of only four girls. While only 15, she had already become involved in the wrestling business, travelling to San Bernardino frequently to train in and work for the wrestling school of Billy Anderson, her father's former tag team partner, as well as involving herself in the running of things and before long she made her debut front of stage. Despite touring so young, Anderson still studied and gained her high school diploma largely through the help of e-mailing teachers; she also credits the internet for helping her become famous while only wrestling in front of small crowds.
Professional wrestling career
Training
While training at Billy Anderson's school, she met the Ballard Brothers (Shannon and Shane) who were using the gimmick of hockey players, similar to the Hanson Twins from Slap Shot. They were looking for a valet and due to their sporting gimmick, Anderson took on the role of a heel and the gimmick of a cheerleader, despite them not playing a part in ice hockey. They toured the West Coast, mostly appearing with All Pro Wrestling (APW) where she would interfere in matches, often using high-flying moves. As Cheerleader Melissa she also received training from Christopher Daniels for a short period of time before moving on to APW where she trained under the tutelage of Robert Thompson and "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson.
After gaining experience from ring side, Cheerleader Melissa eventually had her first proper match on her 17th birthday against Lexie Fyfe in a losing effort at an outdoor carnival event. In 2001 she entered into Ultimate Pro Wrestling and lost a tag team match alongside Looney Lane which led to a feud between the two. The first loss in the tag team match would be her only one with the company as she went on to win a grudge match between the two followed by a succession of mixed tag matches, first with Shannon Ballard and then alongside both Ballard Brothers, beating Lane and Frankie Kazarian in the mixed tag match as well as Nova in the final six-person intergender tag match. The following year, in the Summer of 2002, Melissa was personally invited to wrestle and train for three months in Japan for the now-defunct promotion ARSION. She was selected alongside Taylor Matheny who had recently received exposure in World Wrestling Entertainment's Tough Enough programme and thus Anderson received much internet attention by association. Among the rigorous training schedule she wrestled what she claims to be some of her favourite matches, particularly a 15-minute draw against Rie Tamada and her loss to Mariko Yoshida. Also as a present for her 20th birthday, which she celebrated out there, she was allowed to tag team with veteran female wrestler Lioness Aska.
ChickFight
Tournaments (2004-2007)
After Melissa returned from Japan, her days of being a valet were over and Melissa became a full time wrestler. Moving on from her pre-Japan feud with Nikki, she continued to wrestle for APW winning its Above The Law Championship from Robert Thompson in July 2004. Under her reign it was renamed the Future Legends Championship, the title under which she lost it to Daizee Haze the following year before winning it back and retiring the belt. In October, APW associated itself with the newly formed, all-female tournament-cum-promotion ChickFight (CF). In the first event, staged under the APW banner for their Halloween Hell weekend, Melissa made it through two rounds only to be defeated in a steel cage match for the final round by luchadora Princess Sugey. She would become a staple of ChickFight, appearing at the first ten of their major events, missing the eleventh event due to injury sustained less than a week before the show; she is scheduled to appear at the next event under her Raisha Saeed character. She made the final in the first two tournaments but exited the third in the first round after a double disqualification during a match with former rival Nikki, now under her better known name Sara Del Rey. Melissa won ChickFight V tournament, beating Jazz in the final and also went on to win ChickFight VII: The UK vs The USA tournament when it moved from the United States over to the United Kingdom pinning "The Jezebel" Eden Black in the last match. However, the focus of ChickFight VII was on the controversial ending to her first match that saw Sweet Saraya's head hung in the ropes, Melissa continued to assault her despite being trapped until the referee ended the match and Saraya was stretchered from ringside. As Melissa celebrated her tournament victory Saraya reappeared and threatened Melissa. The feud was cut short during a pre-match brawl for Real Quality Wrestling (RQW) in June that saw the two brawl both in and outside of the building and ended with Melissa winning shortly after Saraya was thrown on an already utilised aluminium can, tearing through her ligament and leaving her hospitalised. She was forced to forfeit her ChickFight IX: Our Final Chance match the following day and would not wrestle again for six months.
Meanwhile, Melissa had begun a new feud. She did not participate in the tournament at ChickFight VIII but instead had a rematch against Eden Black for the newly created Transatlantic Women's Championship which she won. Later in the show she successfully defended the title against Croatian wrestler Wesna Busic. The two had met years previously when her internet celebrity saw her invited to German Stampede Wrestling to face Wesna in a losing effort at International Impact I. After defending her Transatlantic Championship at ChickFight VII, their next CF meeting saw Wesna defend her RQW Women's Championship fought under ChickFight Rules (no disqualification and falls count anywhere) which saw the two go to a forty-five minute time limit draw. This left the two at 1-1 and so a decisive match was to be held at ChickFight X but this ended in controversy when Wesna claimed that her tap out was merely an attempt to grab the rope for a rope break; their rematch later that night saw Wesna pick up the victory leaving them drawn again at 2-2. CF XI was originally slated to be a two out of three falls match to find a decisive victory until Melissa pulled out due to injury. Their feud was picked up the following year for Shimmer Women Athletes at Volume 23 in May 2009. The company preluded the match with a video package showing their matches in Europe and announced that the winner would go on to face the Shimmer Champion at a later event. Similar to their 45 minute draw, the two traded forearm shots and ended on their knees trading slaps but unlike that match there would be a winner this time. Towards the end of the bout, Annie Social came to the ring to distract Melissa allowing Wesna to use her CB4 Driver to pick up the victory. Wesna lost her championship match at Volume 25 and, owing to the controversy of their previous match, Melissa wrestled Wesna again in Volume 26 in a Knockout/Submission match where Melissa picked up the victory, making them level once more. Shimmer Women Athletes (2005-present)
After the success of ChickFight, Dave Prazak and Allison Danger set up Shimmer Women Athletes, a promotion with ties to Prazak's Ring of Honor intending to raise the credibility of women's wrestling on an international scale. As with CF, Melissa has been a staple of Shimmer and has appeared at all their events. Her first match with the promotion was for Volume 1 in a losing effort to MsChif, starting a wild feud between the two. The loss saw Melissa demand a special attraction rematch - the match would be Shimmer's first hardcore match, fought under Falls Count Anywhere rules and helped Melissa gain the victory after nearly thirty minutes of wrestling at Volume 4. MsChif took her revenge at Volume 5 by distracting Melissa during a match with Allison Danger, causing her to lose the match. Naturally the rivalry was not abaited and their next match, main eventing Volume 6, was declared a Last Woman Standing Match to allow for both wrestlers to fight out their fury with MsChif eventually coming out on top. Further interferences took an interesting turn at Volume 7 when Melissa came out during MsChif's match against Rain. However, before she could interfere, Rain's partner Lacey pushed her to the ground while trying to distract the referee in order to allow Rain to use an illegal weapon; an incensed Melissa fought back against Lacey in time for the referee to see the foreign object in the ring and declare MsChif the winner via disqualification. After Melissa had won her main event match, Lacey and Rain (The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew), ambushed her with a beat down until MsChif ran out, saving her nemesis before leaving her to celebrate the victory. The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew had threatened Melissa for involving herself in their plans against MsChif and similarly threatened MsChif for being in the way of ambushing Melissa and, after declaring themselves the best tag team in the world, demanded a match with the two for Volume 8 which became the penultimate bout of the evening. The Home Wrecking Crew's experience won out over MsChif and Melissa's fury when a double team maneuvre led to MsChif being pinned; after the match Melissa and MsChif shook hands as a sign of respect.
The two would meet again three months later over the pond in RQW's 2007 No Pain, No Gain event challenging Eden Black for the RQW Women's Championship but both came up short. The match served to build up interest for the aforementioned ChickFight VII: The UK vs The USA where Melissa would secure a victory against Black. She also beat MsChif in the semi-final. At RQW's Taking On The World the three met again with MsChif and Black teaming up in a losing effort against Melissa and Black's nemesis Jetta. This bout did not prevent the two from teaming up in Shimmer still, with Melissa getting a return victory from her debut match against The Experience (Lexie Fyfe and Malia Hosaka), though it was won with MsChif pinning Malia. The team main evented Volume 17, taking on an erstwhile enemy of Melissa again in the form of Sara Del Rey, alongside her Dangerous Angels partner Allison Danger. This time it was Melissa making the pinfall after an Air Raid Crash Despite these string of successes, the tag team did not compete during the Volume 21 tag team gauntlet for the Shimmer Tag Team Championship. The two have met again since in a match for the NWA World Women's Championship for Pro Wrestling Revolution where MsChif successfully defended the title.
Melissa has a considerable record in Shimmer, winning fourteen of her twenty-two matches. However, in the tournament to crown the first Shimmer Champion, she lost in only the first round to Sarah Stock.[ Her other two chances to fight for gold have been similarly unsuccessful, with her losing a staggered entry 21 woman battle royal and a Four Corners match, both for #1 Contendership. Melissa and Wesna faced each other for the fifth time on May 2, 2009, at the tapings of Volume 23. Annie Social interfered in the match and helped Wesna pick up the win turning her heel in the process. The following night, at the tapings of Volume 26, Melissa defeated Wesna via knockout in a "Knockout or Submission Match".
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling
Raisha Saeed (2008-present)
On the January 10 edition of TNA Impact! Melissa made her debut Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) debut as an unknown woman wearing a burqa, later named Raisha Saeed and billed from Syria. She was in Awesome Kong's corner when Kong defeated Gail Kim to win the TNA Women's Knockout Championship. her first pay-per-view appearance with the company was again in Kong's corner at Against All Odds, distracting Kong's opponent ODB to help her retain the Knockout Championship. The situation with Gail Kim and ODB intensified, leading to Anderson's first as a competitor with the promotion. At TNA's all-steel cage event Lockdown, she and Awesome Kong took on Kim and ODB in a tag-team match where Anderson was pinned by Kim. On the July 3, 2008 edition of Impact!, Saeed lost a match against newcomer Taylor Wilde which saw Wilde become number one contender for the Knockout Championship despite outside interference from Kong. Wilde won the title and successfully defended it at Victory Road leading to Kong and Saeed attempting to attack Wilde post-match, however Abyss came out to intervene and stared down Awesome Kong. This led to Saeed slapping Abyss; Abyss responded by delivering a Black Hole Slam on Saeed. In September her costume became a focal point for angles as Saeed became a more regular in-ring performer. On September 4's Impact! ODB pinned her and then chased her backstage, coming out later with the burqa. Awesome Kong hit ODB in the back of the head while Saeed ran to reclaim her attire, her face masked by her hair at the time. Later that month Roxxi used a burqa to disguise herself as Saeed while Kong was facing newcomer Mercedes Steele. After the match Roxxi removed her disguise and attacked Kong with a steel chair, while Saeed appeared at the top of the entrance ramp bound in ropes (implying that she had been abducted by Roxxi prior to the match). Kong took revenge, pinning Roxxi in a tag effort also involving Saeed and Wilde respectively but Roxxi would make a return pin on Saeed in a singles match weeks later.
Kong and Saeed soon aligned themselves with exotic Knockout Rhaka Khan. On the November 6 edition of Impact! Khan substituted for Roxxi as Wilde's tag team partner against Kong and Saeed in a match commentator Mike Tenay described as Khan's last chance to prove herself. In the event Khan turned on Wilde during the match to help Kong make the pinfall but her good luck was short lived as Kong and Saeed, with Khan in their corner, lost to Wilde and Roxxi in a tag team match at Turning Point. Saeed lost to Christy Hemme on the November 27 edition of Impact!, allowing her to challenge for Kong's belt at Final Resolution but Saeed caused a disqualification, giving Hemme the win but retaining the belt for Kong. Through December Khan and Saeed were joined in their support for Kong by newcomer Sojourner Bolt; the group dubbed themselves the Kongtourage and took on ODB, Roxxi and Hemme in a losing effort during a Street Fight on January 15. Hemme was scheduled for a rematch at Genesis however she suffered a legitimate injury prior to the match and the Kongtourage impromptu number one contender match was made at the pay-per-view with ODB picking up the victory, teaming to gain a future title shot. The Kongtourage finally picked up a victory over ODB in a four-on-one handicap match on January 29's Impact!. The Kongtourage rapidly fell into disarray, though, when Sojourner Bolt won a number one contender battle royal in early February and a fortnight later Khan expressed her dissatisfaction with the group leading to a tag match that Khan and Bolt, who were being portrayed as fan favorites now, won. Saeed's attempts to interfere in the Knockouts Championship match at Destination X were unsuccessful but Kong still managed to retain her title. Kong would eventually drop the Title to Angelina Love at Lockdown 2009 when Love's manager Velvet Sky tied Kong's braids to the cage, with Saeed frantically trying to untie them to no success as Love pinned Taylor Wilde.
Alissa Flash (2009-present)
On the May 1, 2008 edition of Impact!, Anderson appeared as her signature Cheerleader Melissa gimmick and defeated Daisy Haze in a singles match that was billed as a "try-out" for both women. However, she reappeared as Saeed later that night. At the May 26, 2009 Impact! taping, Anderson wrestled as "Future Legend" Melissa Anderson in a dark match where she was defeated by Awesome Kong Her television re-debut occurred on the July 16, 2009 edition of Impact! as she wrestled under the revised name of "Future Legend" Alissa Flash, losing to the debuting Sarita and attacking her afterwards.
Other promotions
As well as being a regular for APW, ChickFight, Shimmer and TNA Melissa continues to tour the independent circuit working for a number of different promotions. She has had two stints in the National Wrestling Alliance affiliate Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling. In her second run, during September 2005, she had a short feud with Nattie Neidhart, taking her on in a singles match where Neidhart won using her Sharpshooter after some interference from Belle Lovitz. Enraged by interference, Melissa formed an impromptu tag team with Tiffany, Girls Gone Wrestling, and pinned Nattie after an Air Raid Crash. The following day she lost a SuperGirls Championship match against the reigning Rebecca Knox due to some interference, this time from Scotty Mac. Girls Gone Wrestling teamed up again to take Mac and his partner Ladies Choice in a Men Vs Women tag match that Melissa won with a pin.

Born: 15-Aug-1974
Birthplace: Springdale, Newfoundland, Canada
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Actor
Nationality: Canada
Executive summary: Species
Father: Brian Henstridge
Mother: Helen
Husband: Damian Chapa (actor, m. 26-Aug-1995, div. 1996)
Boyfriend: Liam Waite (actor, engaged to be married, two sons)
Son: Tristan River Waite (b. 12-Oct-1998)
Son: Asher Sky Waite (b. Sep-2001)
Natasha T. Henstridge is a Canadian fashion model turned actress. Her most notable on-screen roles include Species, The Whole Nine Yards, The Whole Ten Yards and the Canadian TV mini-series Would Be Kings for which she won the Gemini Award for best actress. She currently plays the role of Taylor Wethersby in the TV Series "Eli Stone".
Early life & modeling career
Henstridge was born in Springdale, Newfoundland and Labrador, the daughter of Helen, a homemaker, and Brian Henstridge, a biker/contractor. She was raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada with younger brother, Shane. At the age of thirteen, she entered the Casablanca Modeling Agency's "Look of the Year" contest and was chosen first runner-up. The following year, Henstridge went to Paris to pursue her modeling ambitions. At fifteen, she was featured on her first magazine cover, the French edition of Cosmopolitan. Several magazine covers followed and Henstridge went on to do television commercials for products such as Olay, Old Spice, and Lady Stetson. Her modeling career established, Henstridge moved on to a career in movies.
Movies
In her movie debut Species, Henstridge played "Sil", a genetically engineered alien/human hybrid created from a message received by SETI, who breaks free from the captivity of a laboratory when her overseers attempt to "euthanize" her. Pursued by a team of experts who band together to stop her before her "Species" multiplies, Sil embarks on a killing spree while also discovering her powerful instinct to mate. Species was an instant hit, raking in $113 Million (USD). Notable for its sexual content, the film won Henstridge the MTV Movie award for "best kiss" for a scene in which her character, while kissing an aggressive would-be suitor, impales his head on her tongue.
The movie gave Henstridge a platform to launch her acting career, but most of the following movies she appeared in were not as successful. Species spawned a sequel Species II, in which a male alien was attempting to mate with Eve, a genetic duplicate of Sil.
Eve was played as gentle and more docile than the original Sil, creating an air of sympathy for the character who spends the majority of the movie imprisoned in a glass habitat and undergoing painful experiments. The film was a failure at the box office, taking in $19 million (USD) domestically. A few smaller independent movies followed, including Bela Donna and Dog Park, with varied box office returns. She also starred opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme in the action/adventure movie Maximum Risk. Despite having some reservations about the sci-fi genre, she signed up for John Carpenter's Ghosts of Mars in the lead role and reprised her role as Eve in a brief cameo in Species III. Ghosts of Mars was not well-received, with a 21% rating in Rotten Tomatoes.
In 2000, she starred in The Whole Nine Yards and its 2004 sequel The Whole Ten Yards.
Television
She has played a number of roles on television, for example in Caracara and The Outer Limits. From 2005 to 2006, Henstridge had a recurring role in the cancelled ABC drama Commander in Chief, which starred Geena Davis as a fictional female U.S. President. She also hosted Mostly True Stories: Urban Legends Revealed on TLC, a show about urban legends.
Natasha guest starred in the South Park first season episode "Tom's Rhinoplasty" as a substitute teacher, and was credited as "the chick from Species".
Henstridge was working on the TV show She Spies, prior to its cancellation. She has also completed a TV movie for the Lifetime channel titled Widow on the Hill. In 2006 she filmed the CTV original mini-series Would Be Kings in Hamilton, Ontario, for which she won a Gemini Award.
She also starred in the expansion set to the video game Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, entitled Kane's Wrath.
In 2008 Natasha played a role on the new ABC show, Eli Stone. She has also been involved with two new productions, joining the cast of Dave Rodriguez's "Anytown", an indie drama that examines a racist high school attack and its aftermath. Henstridge will play a news anchor covering an attack on an Indian-American boy by two fellow students who videotape the crime. The event forces her to examine the media's post-September 11 role in fueling hate crimes committed by youth. She has also been involved with the production of Should've Been Romeo from American Independent Pictures.
Personal life
Henstridge was married to actor Damian Chapa twice. However, the second marriage lasted only a few months and the couple divorced in 1996. She has two sons by actor Liam Waite, named Tristan River Waite, born October 1998, and Asher Sky Waite, born September 2001. Her long-term partner is Scottish-Iranian singer-songwriter and actor Darius Danesh.

Her mother, Elvira, is a physics teacher and drug store manager, and her father, Mark Kunis, is a mechanical engineer and cab company executive. She also has an older brother. Her family moved to Los Angeles, California in 1991. She says that her English improved from watching The Price Is Right (as Bob Barker spoke English slowly enough for her to understand). Kunis was cast as Jackie in the television series That '70s Show in 1998. During the auditions, all people auditioning for the roles in the show were required to be at least 18 years old, so Kunis told the casting staff at the audition that she was going to be 18 "on her birthday" not specifying to which birthday she was referring. She was actually 14 at the time of the audition and after receiving the part, she was able to keep on the role despite having misled the directors. She had been considered the best fit for the character and was thought to have been creative in her way of gaining the audition despite her age. Kunis has stated many times that she is nothing like Jackie, her character on the show. She has been nominated seven times for a Teen Choice Award for playing Jackie, but never won.
She is the voice of Meg Griffin in the animated TV show Family Guy for which she has received a 2007 Annie Award nomination, and of various characters on the Adult Swim show Robot Chicken. She appeared in After Sex alongside Zoe Saldana as well as in Boot Camp and Moving McAllister alongside Jon Heder.
Kunis' breakout movie performance was in the role of Rachel Jansen in the 2008 movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The performance won her rave reviews and a Teen Choice Award nomination. Also in 2008, she starred alongside Mark Wahlberg in the action movie Max Payne, portraying character Mona Sax. The film is based on the popular video game of the same name.
In December 2008, Kunis was featured in Gap's "Shine Your Own Star" Christmas campaign with other celebrities such as Jennifer Hudson, Jason Bateman, Mary-Louise Parker, Jon Heder, and others.

She has also been confirmed to join the comedy Date Night starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell. She will also play Lilly Natalie Portman's enemy in Black Swan in late 2010.
Kunis was ranked #54 in Stuff's "102 Sexiest Women in the World" (2002); Maxim named her #47 on its 2006 Hot 100 list.[10] In 2008, she was ranked #81 on the Maxim Hot 100 list. She was also ranked #81 on the FHM U.S 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2008, although she is unranked in other FHM magazines from different nations. She is ranked #5 on Maxim's 2009 Hot 100 list. Kunis was also accredited to be one of the "most attractive geeks" in 2008 by Wired.com due to her much-publicized affinity for World of Warcraft.
Personal life
Kunis has been dating actor Macaulay Culkin since 2002. Although there have been rumors of the couple getting married, Kunis has denied this several times:
"I've been engaged. I think I've already been married. And I'm sure I have a child somewhere. I'm waiting to have something else happen. No, I'm not married. And no, I'm not engaged. And no, I do not have a child. No one seems to listen. And next week I'll be engaged again. I think, at one point, they were like, 'Seen shopping in Beverly Hills for engagement rings.' We were in Japan working. What is wrong with these people? Half the time you can say they misconstrued facts. But, more often than not, they just make stuff up."
She has identified herself in interviews as a fan of the online computer game World of Warcraft and has received a certain amount of attention from the game's fan community as a result. She has not released what server she is in but says she is with her close friends in the Alliance. Her boyfriend Macaulay Culkin plays too. In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, she says she does not use voice chat with other players in response to claims that some people had recognized her voice.

AKA Dominique Ariane Swain
Born: 12-Aug-1980
Birthplace: Malibu, CA
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Actor
Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Nymphet in Lolita redux
Sister: Chelse Swain (actress, b. 25-May-1983)
Sister: Alexis Swain (film make-up artist)
Dominique Ariane Swain (born August 12, 1980) is an American film actress. She may be best known for her role as the title character in the 1997 film adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov's novel Lolita.
Early life
Swain was born in Santa Monica, California, the daughter of Cindy (née Fitzgerald) and David Swain, Sr., an electrical engineer. Swain grew up in Malibu with four siblings living a modest lifestyle and was a straight-A student at Malibu High School. In 1993, Swain was a stunt double in the film The Good Son. Her sister is the actress Chelse Swain.
Career
In 1995, Swain was chosen from 2,500 girls to star in the controversial remake of Lolita; the film was released in 1997. Shortly after, Swain starred as the rebellious daughter of John Travolta in action film Face/Off. After Face/Off, she starred in many independent and low-budget films including the award winning southern gothic suspense movie Plain Dirty where she got excellent reviews for her lead role as the battered wife Inez.
In 2002, Stuff magazine named her #79 of the "102 Sexiest Women In The World."
In February 2007, she was the cover girl on Stuff magazine. That same month, she appeared in the straight-to-DVD horror movie Dead Mary. In the late 2000s, she appeared in the Nickelback video for "Rockstar". She lip syncs the lyrics while lying in a bathtub filled with bubbles. She has also appeared in the videos for Shaun Mullins' song "Lullaby", the Sky Parade song "Losing Control", and the video "We Are All Made of Stars" by Moby.
Personal life
Swain is a spokesperson for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). At the age of 21, she became the youngest model to pose nude for PETA. In the Lolita-esque ad, set in a classroom, she stands at a blackboard writing, "I'd rather go naked than wear fur". The caption below reads: "Kindness Is a Class Act." She has erroneously been reported to be a vegan or vegetarian in the past, but this was probably an incorrect assumption based upon her support of PETA's anti-fur campaigns. Swain says:
Everybody thinks people who promote PETA don't eat meat, but I think animals were made to be eaten. I take my part in the food chain very seriously. I eat meat, the rarer the better. I just don't think animals should be slaughtered for their fur.

Born: August 11, 1982
Location: Lee’s Summit, Missouri
Died: August 2, 2006
Occupation: model
Height: 5'9"
Audrey Kathryn Lindvall was an American model.
She was the sister of Angela Lindvall, and the former face of Coach and Ann Taylor.
On August 2, 2006, Lindvall was killed by a truck in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, while out on a bicycle ride with a friend. She hit the curb next to a QuikTrip convenience store, was thrown from the bike under the wheels of a moving tanker truck that was leaving the local gas station.
Biography
Born in Lee's Summit, Missouri to Randall (a pharmacist) and Karen Lindvall, she graduated from Lee's Summit High School in June 2001. Growing up with four sisters and one little brother Ben, it was her sister, Michelle, that wanted to be a model, and her other sister Angela (also a tomboy like Audrey), went with Michelle to her local Kansas City fashion shows and got noticed by Kim Hoffman of Hoffman International.
After her sister had signed with IMG and made it to the top world of fashion in New York City, it wasn't long before Lindvall was being noticed by the agents and photographers when she visited her sister in New York. She soon signed with Ivan Bart with IMG.
Lindvall wanted to do something ecological, like design earth-friendly houses. She used to play with crawdads as kid and loved riding her bike. Very health conscious, Lindvall rode her bike in New York City, and didn't think anything of doing it in Lee's Summit. She was hoping to attend college and have another goal outside of modeling.
Her favorite fashion photo shoot was a road-trip feature that she did with her sister, Angela, for Italian Marie Claire. She moved back to Lee's Summit to her father's house in July 2006, a stopping point on her move to Los Angeles, California to be near Angela.
The British band The Kooks wrote the song 'Ooh La' in memory of her, you can watch the video on youtube.
LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- A model visiting family was killed in a bicycle wreck Wednesday night in Lee's Summit.
Audrey Lindvall, 23, was riding her bike near Highways 150 and 291 when she hit a curb and was thrown under the wheels of a gasoline tanker that was pulling into a gas station.
A friend of Lindvall's was riding behind her. The two were planning to meet friends and go partying.
Lindvall was staying at her family's home in Lee's Summit before moving from New York to Los Angeles. She would have turned 24 next week.
Lindvall's friends and relatives said they are overwhelmed with grief.
"She loved everybody, and she really went out and lived life to the fullest. She used to love to make faces and laugh and have fun," said Michelle Jersept, one of the victim's sisters. "She was going to move to LA with (her sister) Angela, go back to school, continue to model. And she was in love, found the love of her life. She was very, very happy."
Relatives said Lindvall was multidimensional.
"(Modeling) wasn't her passion; it took her a long time to even embrace it, which she finally did, because she realized it was a job and she was grateful for it. But her passion was nature, plants, healing and ecology," sister Angela Lindvall said.
"She wanted to change the world," a relative said.
"My mother always taught us that 'pretty is as pretty does,' and Audrey lived that," Jersept said.
"I know that she's an angel now, and she's going to be with us in spirit forever. I try to find there to be some reasoning for this, and maybe it was her time to go, but it's just so hard to think I'm never going to get to hang out with her again and laugh with her again, so I just hold on to the memories," Angela Lindvall said. "We were very, very close, and we had such a good time together before she left."
Relatives said that in when she was living in New York, Lindvall often rode her bicycle in heavy traffic, and they can't believe she was killed in a bicycle wreck in a Missouri parking lot.
Members of two bicycle groups held a candlelight vigil at the scene of the accident Thursday night. They said they wanted to highlight the need for safer streets for bicyclists.

Jensen married English actor Terence Beesley, with whom she had been in a relationship for six years, in a ceremony in the woods of Big Sur, California on Monday 29 January 2007. They met in 1999 while working on a stage production of King Lear. The couple live with their dog Barney in Los Angeles, and have a flat in Holland Park, West London. The couple also own property in Umbria, Italy.
In December 2008, Jensen and Beesley were granted a restraining order against Jeff Lewis from Bravo TV's Flipping Out; Jensen and Beesley live next door to a house Lewis is currently renovating and conflict arose after a deck that Lewis had constructed on his home crossed the property line onto the Jensen-Beesley property. Jensen and Beesley claim that Lewis threatened to make their lives miserable and to portray them poorly on his show; Lewis denies the claims.

Devon Edwenna Aoki (born August 10, 1982) is an American model and actress.
Early life
Aoki was born in New York City, and grew up in California and London, attending high school at The American School in London. Her Japanese American father, Rocky Aoki, a former Olympic wrestler, was the founder and owner of the Benihana restaurant chain until his death on July 10, 2008. Her mother, Pamela Hilburger, is a jewelry designer of German and English heritage.
Aoki was discovered in New York at a Rancid concert she had gatecrashed. She started modeling when she was 13, the same year Aoki was introduced by her godmother to Kate Moss, who would later take the young Devon under her wing. Moss pushed for Aoki to be signed, and she was signed onto Storm Model Management at age 14.
“ And then I guess from being in New York, I did this photograph for Interview Magazine called "Lovely Rita." My agency says that Kate Moss brought the picture in and told them that they should, you know, sign me. And then it happened, and then in my early career we did a lot of jobs together. She was a big help to me when I first started. ”
In 1998, at the age of 16, Devon replaced Naomi Campbell as the face of Versace. An A-grade student at school, Devon chose not to go on to college, believing that working and traveling offered her a "broader and deeper education" than a degree.
Career
Aoki has modeled for the fashion houses Lancôme, Chanel, and Versace. Aoki is 5 ft 5 in — an almost unheard of height for runway models, who are usually at least 5 ft 8 in height. Aoki has done ad campaigns for Chanel Ready to Wear, Chanel Couture by Karl Lagerfeld, Versace by Steven Meisel, YSL by Juergen Teller, Alessandro Del Aqua, Hugo Boss, Moschino, Ungaro, Fendi, Junko Shimada by Bettina Kimenda and Baby Phat by Kimora Lee Simmons.

Music from this video was featured in the soundtrack of 2 Fast 2 Furious, which Ludacris and Aoki both appeared in. In 2006, she made an appearance in The Killers' video "Bones". Aoki has also made a cameo appearance in the short films accompanying the new Sean Lennon album, Friendly Fire.
Her acting career includes films like 2 Fast 2 Furious, D.E.B.S., Sin City, Dead or Alive and War. She did not have her driver's license prior to filming 2 Fast 2 Furious and had to learn to drive during filming.
Aoki has a role in the 2008 film Mutant Chronicles.
Aoki has joined L.A.'s International Creative Management for representation and The Firm for management.
Aoki has been on the cover of I-D magazine three times. She was also the face of Lancome cosmetics for four years. Aoki posed for renowned Singaporean photographer Leslie Kee for Kee's 2006 charity photo-book "Super Stars", dedicated to the victims of the 2004 Asian tsunami disaster, which consists of photographs of 300 Asian celebrities by Kee. The same year, Aoki posed for photographer Marc Baptiste’s book Nudes wearing a dress:
“ It's funny. People have been saying that, and I saw the book. I'm the only person in the book who is wearing clothes. I'm wearing a dress. I'm like 'why am I in this book?' because it's nudes and I'm not nude at all. ”
In September 2007, it was announced she was designing jeans line for Levi's, although the line was only available in Asia.
Aoki recently made a return to the runway, walking for the Chanel Pre-Fall 2008 show in London. She is signed to 1/One Management New York (owned by her mother), d-Management Milan, and City Paris.
Personal life
Aoki lives on her own in Los Angeles, and keeps her personal life private. She has dated Lenny Kravitz.
She is interested in writing poetry, playing the drums and hanging out with her two pet snakes.
In 2006, Aoki's father, Hiroaki Aoki, sued four of his seven children for attempting to take control of the companies he founded. Devon, uninvolved in the family business, was not one of the four.
Her half-brother, Steve Aoki, is a Los Angeles DJ and the founder of Dim Mak Records. Aoki also has three sisters—Ellie, Grace, and Echo—and three other brothers—Kyle, Kevin, and Cole Price.

Born: 7-Aug-1975
Birthplace: Benoni, South Africa
Gender: Female
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Actor, Model
Nationality: South Africa
Executive summary: Monster
Father: Charles (French ancestry, construction company owner, d. 1991 shot by his wife in self-defense)
Mother: Gerda (German ancestry)
Boyfriend: Craig Bierko (actor, dated 1996-98)
Boyfriend: Stephan Jenkins (lead singer Third Eye Blind, Jan-1998 to Jul-2001)
Boyfriend: Stuart Townsend (actor, dated and cohabited since 2001, engaged to be married)
Charlize Theron has stopped protesting when she hears herself introduced as Charlize Theer-on, but in her native language her last name is pronounced "Tron", and she has said she prefers the English pronunciation "Th-rown".
She was raised under apartheid on a South African farm, about 25 miles from Johannesburg. Her father was French Huguenot, her mother German, but both had been raised in South Africa. Her native language is Afrikaans, and she has said she rarely wore clothes on the farm until she was about seven. She was 15 when her alcoholic and abusive father came home in a drunken rage, approaching Theron's mother waving a gun and shouting what would be his last words, "Tonight I am going to kill both of you". Instead, her mother shot him dead. The killing was ruled self-defense, but for years, understandably, young Charlize would answer inquiries about her father by lying that he had died in an auto wreck.
She was trained as a dancer from the age of six, and her earliest performances on stage were ballets such as Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. She worked as a model from the age of 16, in South Africa, Europe, and America, where she took advanced lessons at New York's Joffrey Ballet School, until a knee injury ended that career path.
Deciding to become an actress, she settled in Los Angeles where she was unable to find work. She lived on her savings from modeling work and occasionally subsisted on bread sticks stolen from restaurants. When a bank teller refused to cash her last modeling check because it was drawn on an out-of-state bank, she became furious, swearing in Afrikaans until she was approached in the bank lobby by a stranger who offered his card. She has said she thought he was a creep trying to pick her up, but he was John Hurt's agent, and quickly became Theron's.
After extended speech lessons to lose her Afrikan accent, she landed a tiny, uncredited role in Children of the Corn III, then had a furious fight scene with Teri Hatcher in 2 Days in the Valley. She played the drummer's dissatisfied girlfriend in That Thing You Do with Tom Hanks, the waitress who fell for Jeff Daniels in Trial and Error, Keanu Reeves's schizophrenic wife in The Devil's Advocate, an orgasmic model in Woody Allen's Celebrity, Tobey Maguire's fascination in The Cider House Rules, the mistress of car salesman Billy Bob Thornton in Waking Up In Reno, the safe-cracker in a Mini Cooper in The Italian Job with Mark Wahlberg, and ex-wife Britt Ekland in The Life and Death of Peter Sellers with Geoffrey Rush.
Her first starring role was in Mighty Joe Young with Bill Paxton. She played The Astronaut's Wife, wondering what was wrong with husband Johnny Depp after he returned from outer space, and she was Razzie-nominated as Worst Actress for Sweet November in 1991, playing Reeves' live-in sexual therapist. She won the Oscar as Best Actress two years later playing Aileen Wuornos, the battered prostitute who became a serial killer in Monster with Christina Ricci. She has since played the spandex-clad superhero of the sci-fi comic-inspired Aeon Flux and the determined coal miner of North Country. She also played Jason Bateman's romantic interest on TV's Arrested Development.
In 1999 she appeared nude in Playboy, in photos taken years earlier when she was a struggling model. In South Africa, she has filmed TV commercials for the Cape Town Rape Crisis Center, urging no tolerance for rape or domestic violence. After winning her Oscar, Nelson Mandela told Theron she had "put South Africa on the map."

Race or Ethnicity: White
Occupation: Actor
Nationality: Canada
Executive summary: Sam McPherson on Popular
Brother: Kris Pope
High School: Lord Byng High School, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (1998)
University: University of British Columbia (one semester)
Carly Pope (born 28 August 1980) is a Canadian actress.
Biography
Early life
Pope was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, with an older brother, Kris, also an actor, and a younger brother.[1] Pope's passion for acting began during her high school years in Vancouver where she appeared in stage classics such as The Odd Couple, playing Mickey, and A Midsummer Night's Dream, playing Titania.
Career
Pope already had a number of film and television roles to her credit (Disturbing Behavior, Night Man) when she burst onto the American scene playing the pivotal character Sam McPherson on the WB's high-school drama Popular. Since then she has portrayed a heroin addict in Trapped in a Purple Haze, played opposite Leelee Sobieski in The Glass House, appeared in Jeff Probst's Finder's Fee, and in Orange County. The Globe and Mail stated, "she is part of a phenomenon that's seen Hollywood agents looking more and more to Canada for fresh faces", and listed her as one of Canada's "Young Leaders."[citation needed] In 2005 she was a guest-star in an episode of FOX's Tru Calling and played an aspiring social worker in Eighteen, co-starring Brendan Fletcher, Alan Cumming and Ian McKellen.
Pope found out the day after her high school graduation that she was going to Romania to shoot a feature film. "Acting was always an innate ambition", said Pope. "It was where I belonged."[citation needed] Pope trained in dance until she entered Lord Byng Secondary School, when she began studying drama in an advanced program. An agent saw her in a school stage production, which led to Pope's screen debut in an independent children's film, Cowboys and Aliens, on location in distant Eastern Europe. She returned and enrolled at the University of British Columbia for a semester, but demand for the gifted young actress was already heating up. Pope's fast-rising career took off when she won a starring role in the feature film, A Cooler Climate. She appeared in the Paramount release Snow Day a children's comedy with Pam Grier, Jean Smart and Chevy Chase. Her television credits include leads in the ABC television movies Our Guys and Trapped in a Purple Haze, but is best known for her role as Sam in the WB hit show Popular. Pope compared her character, Sam, to "a builder, or a contractor. She has all the right tools, but doesn't know how to use them properly." Sam doesn't realize yet just how unique she already is. "She's trying too hard", continued Pope. "Her actions don't match up to her convictions, and that's what she still has to learn." Carly made a best friend on the show, her co star, Leslie Bibb, who portrayed Carly's on screen rival, Brooke McQueen. "Leslie is just like a sister to me, since I have none, I love and care for her deeply." She is currently starring in Power Up's new project Itty Bitty Titty Committee and in Fox's 24 playing as Samantha Roth.
Personal life
Splitting her time between Los Angeles and Vancouver, Pope is currently attending university when her filming schedule allows. She speaks Italian, Spanish and French fluently and is seeking to expand her education in literature and languages.

Marisa Miller is a California-born American model best known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues and her work for lingerie giant Victoria's Secret. After a stint shooting with photographer Mario Testino for fashion magazines like Vogue, Miller began working for both companies in 2002, and has remained with each since. As of late 2007, she is a Victoria's Secret Angel, and graced the cover of the 2008 SI Swimsuit Issue to record-setting numbers, accomplishments that have led to her being dubbed the "return of the great American supermodel."
She is also known for contracts with companies like Harley-Davidson and for taking the #1 spot on Maxim magazine's 2008 "Hot 100" list. Aside from modeling, she is an ambassador for the American Cancer Society.
Early life and career start
Born Marisa Bertetta in Santa Cruz, California, she was first "discovered" at age 16 walking through a San Francisco café by two Italian modeling agents. After talking to her mother Krista Bertetta, she was on a plane to Italy with her mother a few months later, despite such a "shy and conservative" personality growing up that she had to put on all her clothes just to go to the trash can while at the beach. Miller says the most valuable thing her mom has ever told her was: "You can always go back to school, but you can't always model." Miller took her mom's advice and soon gained attention when she appeared in a 1997 issue of Perfect 10 magazine. Although she came in third behind Ashley Degenford and Monica Hansen in Perfect 10 magazine's first annual model search, she was repeatedly showcased in following issues, including the covers of the Winter 1998, Aug/Sept 1999, and Fall 2004 editions.
She has two sisters and attended Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, California.
Career
Atypically, Miller was able to move from a start as an amateur magazine model to high profile mainstream work after an acquaintance showed a picture of her to famed fashion photographer Mario Testino in 2001. Testino asked to meet Miller, who was running a surf school at the time, and was invited to Manhattan Beach, California, where she would be surfing.
Noticing her, Testino snapped pictures of her and approached her for a job offer that turned out to be editorials for both the American and Italian editions of Vogue. Within six months, Miller was working for Victoria's Secret and the coveted Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, of which she has been in every issue since 2002. In particular, she was featured in the 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008 editions' sections of body painting featuring the work of Joanne Gair. Raphael Mazzucco's handbra photograph of Miller wearing nothing but an iPod in the 2007 edition became one of the most famous photos ever published in that magazine. As part of the Sports Illustrated 40th anniversary celebration, she was selected to duplicate some of the swimsuit issues' most memorable photos of models such as Tyra Banks, Cheryl Tiegs, and Daniela Pestova. She has also appeared in a diverse range of magazines, many of them international editions, such as GQ, Maxim, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle, and Vanity Fair, as well as working on campaigns/advertisements for Nordstrom, J.Crew, Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger, Pepsi, Panasonic, Bath & Body Works, and most recently, for True Religion jeans and motorcycle company Harley-Davidson. In July 2008, Miller took her first step beyond modeling when her shoe line with skateboarder/surfer-oriented company Vans launched.
“ I get a kick out of it, but it would be stupid to let it go to my head. It’s modeling—I didn’t find the cure for cancer. ”
—Miller on her career
Television spots of Miller's include the short-lived reality television series Manhunt: The Search for America's Most Gorgeous Male Model (2004), Puddle of Mudd's "Spin You Around" music video (2004), the pilot episode and finale of VH1's reality show The Shot (2007), and cameos in HBO's Entourage and the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother (both 2007), the latter with her fellow Victoria's Secret Angels. However, it wasn't until 2007 that she filmed her first television commercial for Victoria's Secret, appearing alongside Heidi Klum for the It bra. Miller's other commercials include a 2008 viral video on YouTube with All Star baseball player Ryan Braun for Remington's ShortCut clippers and a September 2008 commercial for the NFL Network
On December 4, 2007, Miller made her debut at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, and opened a segment in the following year's edition. Other runway credits of Miller's include 2007's Fashion for Relief show, benefiting victims of Hurricane Katrina, as well as MTV's Fashionably Loud, Imitation of Christ, Inca, and Amir Slama's Rosa Cha, for which she was one of the most anticipated models.
2008 hit an early high note for Miller when, on the February 12th episode of The Late Show with David Letterman, it was announced via a three-story billboard in New York City that Miller would grace the cover of that year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The tandem online launch of the issue drew record page views to the SI website: 228 million, a 41% increase over 2007. In September 2008, Sports Illustrated released a "Best of Marisa Miller" swimsuit calendar for the 2009 year.
Victoria's Secret also put her to work in 2008, with a five-city tour to promote the 2008 Swim collection's release in stores; the April-May tour included stops in New York City, Miami, Chicago (where she threw the opening pitch at a Cubs game), Boston, and Minneapolis. The relaunch of Victoria Secret's sports line, VSX, soon followed, along with her first official campaign as an Angel: promoting the company's newest fragrance, Very Sexy Dare. On announcing the campaign, Limited Brands president Edward Razek said of Miller:
“ Marisa is one in a billion. She’s the quintessential California beach girl, she’s incredibly gorgeous and she exudes a remarkably positive energy. „
—Edward Razek
In the media
“ Not since Cindy Crawford ruled the catwalk has a pinup born and bred on U.S. soil so thoroughly captured the imagination of the American male. ”
—Maxim magazine
The swell in publicity resulting from her 2008 work served to land Miller in the number one spot on Maxim magazine's "Hot 100" rankings for 2008, beating out list regulars such as Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel, and Eva Longoria-Parker. This marked the first time anyone has debuted on the list in the number one position. In her subsequent cover story for the July issue, Maxim proclaimed her as the "return of the great American supermodel." She also finished first place in The Best Damn Sports Show Period "Smokin' Sixteen" competition in 2008, repeating her 2007 win over competitors such as Gisele Bündchen and Adriana Lima. Miller then ranked #9 in the Askmen.com's "Top 99" for 2008 (an increase of three places from the previous year, which was a two-place increase itself from 2006) and added to her popular accolades with the "Hot N' Fresh" award at the second annual Spike Guys' Choice Awards.
Personal life
She married Jim Miller, a Los Angeles surfing contest promoter and lifeguard from California in 2000, and separated from him in 2002. They divorced soon after. She married Hollywood producer Griffin Guess, on April 15, 2006. Miller enjoys football, muscle cars, cooking, and boxing. From an early age she loved surfing; in 2004, she placed second in the celebrity division of the Kelly Slater Surf Invitational behind Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction fame. She was a standout volleyball player on her high school team and has long been a big sports fan in general. She has said that if she weren't a model she would be a sportscaster.
Miller is currently an ambassador for the American Cancer Society, to which proceeds from her online store are donated. She also supports the Young Survival Coalition, which seeks to promote awareness of breast cancer in women under 40, as well as environmental organization The Surfrider Foundation, which aims to preserve the world's oceans and beaches.

Asia Carrera (born Jessica Steinhauser on August 6, 1973 in New York City) is a former American pornographic actress.
Early life and education
Asia Carrera was born in New York City to a Japanese father and German mother and is the oldest of four siblings. She was raised in Little Silver, New Jersey, attending the Little Silver School District and Red Bank Regional High School.
She studied piano as a child, and performed at Carnegie Hall twice before the age of 15. By 16 she taught English at Tsuruga College in Japan. When she was 17, she ran away from home because she felt her parents put too much pressure on her to succeed academically.
She won a full academic scholarship to Rutgers University and is a member of Mensa.
Adult film career
Carrera worked during the early 1990s as a dancer at several go-go bars in her home state of New Jersey.
After doing at least one photoshoot for an adult magazine, she put together a demo porn tape in 1993. At the end of that year she relocated to California to break into the pornography business and she announced her retirement at the end of 2003. She is sometimes credited as Asia or Jessica Bennett.
Carrera has also been involved in writing, producing, and directing movies, as well as doing all her own make-up and hair-styling, and doing much of the hair and make-up for other actresses in the same movies.
As is common practice among adult film stars, the name "Asia Carrera" is a pseudonym. According to interviews, she chose the stage name surname from actress Tia Carrere, intentionally misspelling it for legal reasons.
After her contract with Vivid expired in the mid 1990s, Carrera had her right labia minora pierced and has henceforth had a variety of 1/2" gold rings affixed there ever since. At this time she also had her first breast enlargement, going from a medium B to at least a full C cup. She has had at least one subsequent breast surgery and is now a D cup or larger.
Carrera performed only a few anal sex scenes during her career because she didn't want to be considered an "anal queen". Her first anal scene was in the movie A is for Asia (a film to which she owned all the rights) which occurred after her contract with Vivid finished.
In 1998 she appeared in the film The Big Lebowski opposite Tara Reid in a faux pornography movie titled "Logjammin" within the film.
Other interests
Carrera has an active presence on the Internet and describes herself as "the nerd of porn". She proudly proclaims that she created her own Web site in the late 1990s, including writing the code and editing the pictures.
She is also an avid player of Unreal Tournament. She designed her own game skins and was featured in the show Players on the G4 games cable channel, where she revealed that her screen name is "Megabitchgoddess." Carrera hosted her own Unreal Tournament server that featured custom maps designed by fans that frequented the chatroom that she has hosted on her site since 1997. She is also a Corvette aficionado but traded hers in after starting a family.
She was a guest reviewer for Maximum PC magazine.
She identified investor Warren Buffet as her hero on her website, which he was thrilled to learn.
She also lent her voice to a number of hentai movies, such as Inmu and Shusaku.
She was featured in the book, Part Asian, 100% Hapa by artist Kip Fulbeck. She also authored one of three featured quotes on the book jacket.
Personal life
In 1995, Carrera married adult film director Bud Lee. They divorced in 2003 after a long separation, but remain good friends. Carrera dated a former grip from her porn sets for a few years until his visa expired and he returned to England. Soon after, she married nutritionist and author Don Lemmon on December 19, 2003. The couple moved to St. George, Utah where Carrera gave birth to her first daughter, Catalina, on March 4, 2005.[ Lemmon was killed in a car accident near Las Vegas on June 10, 2006; at the time, Carrera was almost eight months pregnant with their second baby. In an expression of concern about her livelihood and worries of not being able to support their two children on her own, Carrera began to solicit donations on her personal web site. Eventually, Carrera got a message from an insurance company that a life insurance policy she had forgotten about did exist for her husband, and she was granted it after mandatory investigation.
Their son, who was born on July 31, 2006, was initially to be named Devin; but she decided, after Lemmon's death, to name him Donald Edward Lemmon III. She gave birth to her son at home unassisted. She and Lemmon had planned for the birth to be unassisted, but after his death she was offered free midwifery services; she was unsure whether she wanted to give birth alone without her husband. The birth occurred 11 days before the estimated due date, while a midwife was en route.
Carrera is an outspoken atheist, stating "I've always been an atheist; science explains everything."
On March 18, 2007 she announced on her Blog that once her merchandise inventory is gone she "will probably" shut down her website. "I've got to give my kids their anonymity. I need to back away from being famous so my kids can grow up without being ostracized by their peers for who their mommy was."
On May 13, 2007, she announced on her web site that she had filed a request to legally change her son's name to Devin D'Artagnan Lemmon, in honor of Devin DeVasquez, the woman who first introduced her to Donald. She explained that "He's not Don, he never will be Don, and it made me want to start crying every time a random stranger would say, 'Oh he's so cute, what's his name?'" The state made an error in changing his name, however, keeping the "III".
After growing tired of impostors claiming to be her on Myspace, she posted her own authentic profile.
Commentary on the Susan Russell pornography case
In 2006, Carrera was asked for commentary by The Spectrum, a St. George-area newspaper, on the local case of Susan Russell, who was charged with 15 counts of third-degree felony distribution of pornographic material. Russell allegedly sold pornographic materials and sex toys from a back room in her Earrings and More store, potentially violating the "community standards" of the Mormon-dominated town per the Supreme Court case Miller v. California. Carrera opined:
"I deliberately moved to St. George with my husband so we could raise our kids in a conservative atmosphere, in a low-crime, family friendly state. I do appreciate that the laws are there, and will make it harder for my kids to get into trouble when they get older."
However, she also said,
"Do I have a problem with porn being sold here? No, not per se. I have no problem with porn at all. Trust me, they don't exploit women, and watching porn has never been scientifically shown to lead to any increase in crime rates, be it rape, pedophilia, or any other sexual crimes."
Nevertheless, she reiterated that the community's conservatism was the reason she moved there, and that she had no plans to challenge it nor, by implication, the arrest of people distributing movies in which she may herself have starred.

Born: August 4, 1979
Location: Long Lake, Minnesota
Born in 1979, in Long Lake, Minnesota, Melissa Keller had a typical childhood and was nurtured by a loving family. She was always full of energy and gravitated towards winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. Her plan to attend a local university was put on the back burner after her father sent photos of her to a local modeling agency, in an attempt to sway his daughter away from her love of everything "punk."
Keller was 15 at the time, and the agency loved her fresh face. They assigned her to do advertisements for Target and Sears, and she fell in love with the industry. After graduating from high school, Keller was offered a job in Milan and moved there. She was able to get her foot in the door while in Italy and, upon her return to the U.S., settled in New York City, where her career flourished.
parasuco considers her numero uno
Her first big break came when Parasuco decided she would be their new face. The jean maker was Keller's first project, but it wasn't long before Noxzema and The Gap called upon her to be a part of their advertising campaigns. Soon, Keller's unique smile and mesmerizing eyes could be seen all over fashion magazines.
cosmetics: her forte
Companies discovered that Keller was a natural in front of the camera, and as much of a perfectionist as the photographers and designers were. Revlon liked these traits and made her their spokes model -- which was a huge deal for the Midwesterner, who was barely out of adolescence at the time. At this juncture in her life, Keller decided she would need to commute between Los Angeles and her current home in the Big Apple in order to capitalize on the fast-paced lifestyle models enjoy.
Cosmetics companies continued to be Keller's main suitors, as she took on contracts with L'Oral and Aveda in 2001. It was one year later, however, that she would really reach the mainstream audiences. Sports Illustrated had done its research and decided that Keller was the perfect woman to represent them in their annual Swimsuit Issue in 2002.
SI issues break through
Shot in Brazil, Keller's sexy spread in the magazine drew loads of attention, and carried her through to the next year, where she made a repeat performance in SI. Though she claimed to be uncomfortable in skimpy bikinis, she looked perfectly at ease, and left quite an impression on buyers of the popular mag.
not about to slow down
While the wave of popularity from her cosmetics campaigns and Sports Illustrated appearances will surely die down, Keller will no doubt find more projects in which she can show off her talents. At the very least, she is a realist and recognizes that modeling will not support her forever.
Keller intends to attend university in the future, and has an interest in doing films. With her "go get 'em" attitude and inherent talents, she will surely succeed in whatever she attempts next.

AKA Nicole Evangeline Lilly
Born: 3-Aug-1979
Birthplace: Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada
Gender: Female
Religion: Born-Again Christian
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Actor, Model
Nationality: Canada
Executive summary: Kate on Lost
Father: (home economics teacher)
Mother: (cosmetician)
Sister: Andrea (younger)
Boyfriend: Dominic Monaghan (actor, dated 2005-)
Nicole Evangeline Lilly is a Canadian Golden Globe-nominated actress. She is known for her role as Kate Austen in the ABC drama Lost. She was aFormer flight attendant and missionary who spent time in the Philippines, also a student of international relations at the University of British Columbia. The generally-told story is that Lilly was discovered by the Ford Modeling Agency. It is not clear whether she actually took a position there. After several very minor actiong jobs she was cast on Lost, her first speaking role. The hit show has done wonders for her name recognition: Evangeline Lilly was voted #2 on Maxim's "Hot 100 List" in May 2005, second to actress Eva Longoria.
Biography
Early life
Lilly was born in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada, to a devoutly Evangelical Christian family. Her father is a home economics teacher, and her mother is a beauty consultant. Lilly also has a younger sister, Andrea, whom she has described as "the actor in the family". During her childhood, the family did not have a television.
Before leaving the city of Fort Saskatchewan at the age of 10, she attended three elementary schools. She briefly attended Fort Elementary, Rudolph Henning and James Mowat Elementary. During a phone interview with the local paper, The Record, Lilly was quoted saying, "When I was a kid, the Fort was tiny. I could ride my bike at five years old from one end of town to the other ... To me Fort Saskatchewan holds a lot of really great memories. I just consider it a little happy hideaway."
Lilly served briefly as a foreign missionary and lived in a grass hut in the Philippines. She was offered a missionary post there for two years, an offer she nearly accepted but eventually declined because of her parents' wishes. Lilly was a flight attendant of Air Canada, and speaks French fairly well. She also worked at Green Bay Bible Camp near Kelowna.
Career
Lilly was discovered on the streets of Kelowna, British Columbia, by Ford modeling agency. Although she initially decided to pass on a modeling career, she went ahead and signed with Ford anyway, to help pay for her University of British Columbia tuition and expenses. Despite being signed to Ford Models, she was never actually a fashion model, working instead with their acting branch.
She was previously featured in several provocative television commercials for LiveLinks Chatline, a service billed as the "best place to meet local singles for dating, friendship, or phone chat." Her image is still used to promote the service. She also appeared on G4's Judgment Day. She appeared uncredited in the 2003 film Freddy vs. Jason as a high-school girl leaning against a locker, and in several episodes of Smallville as an extra. She also had a guest appearance on the ABC supernatural horror series Kingdom Hospital (2004). Lilly's first speaking role was on Lost. She also appeared in the 2003 teenager film The Lizzie McGuire Movie as an (uncredited) Italian police officer.
When Lilly was cast as Kate in Lost, her main concern was acquiring a work visa to enter the United States. With production literally days away and no news about the visa, casting directors were forced to grudgingly begin re-casting the role of Kate. After nearly 20 auditions, Lilly's work visa was approved/cleared but she arrived on set a day late.
Her salary in 2004 for Lost was $80,000 per episode. On the heels of her role in Lost, she was voted one of the Breakout Stars of 2004 by Entertainment Weekly. Although Lilly placed 13th in the FHM "100 Sexiest Women in the World" of 2006 and initially placed 2nd on Maxim's "Hot 100" list of 2005, she slipped to 67th in Maxim's 2006 list. On December 14, 2006, Lilly was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Lead Actress-Drama. Action figures of Lilly's Lost character were released during the holiday season of 2006.
Lilly has recently announced that, once she has finished filming Lost, she plans to stop acting and pursue a career as a humanitarian worker; however she has not ruled out returning to TV at some point in the future.
Personal life
Lilly was once married to Canadian hockey player Murray Hone, and was engaged to her former Lost co-star Dominic Monaghan. Her known nicknames include "Evie" and "Monkey". Her Lost castmates nicknamed her "Monkey" because of her ability to climb trees with ease, a skill which has been incorporated into her character. Her fellow Lost actor Josh Holloway also calls her "Freckles", sharing the nickname his on-screen character Sawyer gave her. She is also known on set for her tomboyishness, Christian faith, and her "potty mouth".
Lilly has stated that she "live[s] in a bubble", specifying that she is not familiar with popular culture and does not watch television or own a TV set. She has also said that she would not appear in a nude scene or perform in sexual scenes that she would consider "gratuitous".
On the May 9, 2007, Episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Evangeline Lilly described her deep need to leave her home town after her high school graduation. She did much travelling at this point in her life, moving from town to town approximately every six months. She stated that in each town she took on a persona; for example, she would decide in one town to take on the role of a "nerdy bookworm" and in another, a ditzy "cheerleader" type. She has jokingly stated that, as such, she would frequently date different men.
Lilly has also used her celebrity status to help promote Just Yell Fire, a video aimed at teaching teenage girls how to defend themselves against rapists. During the summer break between the first and second seasons of Lost, Lilly spent time visiting the poor in Rwanda.
On December 20, 2006, Lilly's house in Kailua, Hawaii, was completely destroyed by fire while she was on the Lost set with one of her two roommates, both of whom work as her stand-ins on the show. The second roommate was off-island at the time of the blaze, which occurred on the final day of shooting before the show’s holiday break. The cause of the fire was an electrical problem.
